‘ROOTS’ 1800s Scene Casting Call for a TON of New Roles

The Roots remake is now casting a ton of new talent for an 1800s scene filming in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Casting directors are now looking for guys to work on a scene filming in Vacherie, Louisiana. Producers are looking for a ton of extras to play 1800s types. Filming will take place on September 21st and September 22nd.

In addition, casting directors are looking for female models to play prostitute on scenes filming on September 10th in Chalmette/St. Bernard area.

A&E Networks is working on the Roots remake. The new mini-series will be a remake of the classic 1997 miniseries that traced a black family’s history from salvery on to the end of the Civil War. The eight-episode series, which has been in the works since 2013, will air simultaneously on The History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime in 2016.

Want to become a model? Well the casting director for Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang shares amazing model tips for aspiring models.

The perfect casting director can turn a bad runway event to one of the most talked about fashion shows of the century. In a recent interview with Vogue, casting director for Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga, Anita Bitton, reveals what it takes to become a supermodel.

The casting director covered several interesting topics including getting discovered, becoming an overnight success, and creating a group of models that will get along.

But one of the best piece of information shared by Anita Bitton was how models hone their skills and it relies on taking dancing classes, learning your craft, and look at models that look like you.

I always tell the girls: Take a dance class, learn your craft, look at models you like, what did they do? Raquel Zimmermann, Gisele, Karen Elson, Carolyn Murphy, why are they still here? They’re amazing models. And they like to model. Who wants to be around somebody who doesn’t really want to be a model?

Lexi [Boling] spent a lot of seasons with Alexander Wang doing looks and getting to know the collections; I think she is still learning to become a model, but she likes being a model. She’s into it, she’s working on her craft, and I admire that about her. Same with Anna Ewers, Vanessa Moody, I think those girls have been given an opportunity. They’re all girls that we’ve worked with and seen develop. Julia Nobis, I worked with her first season, she did a lot of looks at Alexander Wang. That was a long stretch, but she’s now a big model: That wasn’t overnight. It won’t be easy, but models need the opportunity to learn, to graze their knees and get back up again. These kids are splendid, they’re brilliant. I like it when they love it.

Runway Models Casting Call

Another key point was the fact that talent agents are constantly trying to “discover” new talent but, at the end of the day they are trying to make money off of their client. In addition, Anita Bitton pointed out that models do not become famous over night.

These girls don’t become stars overnight, none of them do. You name me one. It just doesn’t happen, there’s a lot that goes into it. Just because I go to Sweden and see a girl at an agency, she isn’t being discovered—she’s a model waiting to be booked. Anna Ewers is a good example; Alex [Wang] sent me a picture of Anna—love this girl—she drove in from Germany to meet Alex, he met her, liked her, but she was really, really green. So then, what he did—what he’s always done—was keep in touch with the girl, because you make your girl. It’s that familiarity. And so she came back, and did another season, and did Valentino, and it happened very slowly. When a designer sees a model that he loves, you know, that designer-muse relationship is unbreakable, and he did discover her for that moment, but it took more than “discovery” to make her a star.

Tyler the Creator: The U.K. Government Treated Me Like a “Terrorist”

After being reportedly banned from the U.K. due to his controversial lyrics, Tyler the Creator is calling out the government, claiming they are treating him like a “terrorist.”

Last week, the rapper tweeted he was banned from the U.K. “for 3-5 years” by the country’s Home Office policy, which cited “behaviours unacceptable in the U.K.” due to lyrics written 3 years ago.

The lyrics come from songs on his 2009 mixtape Bastard as well as a song from his debut studio album, Goblin.

In an interview with The Guardian, Tyler shared his feelings about the U.K. government:

“Now [the U.K. government] are just followers,” Tyler, the Creator told The Guardian. “Everyone is a follower, just following what other countries are doing. Now I’m getting treated like a terrorist.”

Tyler is referring to also being banned from New Zealand in 2014. New Zeland and facing backlash from the Australian group Collective Shout, which started a PR campaign that ended in the rapper’s Australian tour.

The rapper tweeted about the situation after he was held in a detention room and not allowed into the U.K.

During his interview The Guardian, Tyler the Creator says he doesn’t believe that those lyrics from years ago represent who he is now

“It’s based on things I made when I was super-young, when no one was listening,” Tyler said.

According to the papers given to Tyler The Creator, he will not be allowed to return to the U.K. for another three to five years, after which  the U.K. Home Secretary will review the decision.

CBS Cancels ‘Under the Dome’ After 3 Seasons

CBS will not be spending another summer in Wilmington, North Carolina as CBS pulls the plug on the Stephen King sci-fi drama, Under the Dome. 

The summer drama, broke TV ratings in 2013, when the show first premiered. However, ratings plummeted by the third season. In 2013, Under the Dome averaged 13.5 million viewers making it one of the biggest scripted drama series of the year. But, ratings would drop by 2015. Under the Dome averaged only a 1.8 rating among 18 to 49 year olds despite being the number 2 scripted series of the summer, behind Fox’s Wayward Pines. 

“Two years ago, Under the Dome broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world,” said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler. “Dome’s event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of Extant and Zoo. We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the Dome coming down as dramatically as it went up.”

The network announced the series will air its final episode on September 10th, promising closure to the storyline about the mysterious dome that kept the people of a small Maine town separated from the rest of the world.

There was a lot of drama surrounding CBS ‘Under the Dome’. It was rumored that filming for the hit TV series was going to move to either Utah or Georgia in order to film season 4.

 

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Episode 2 Ratings Drop

AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead ratings drop in week 2.

Ratings for AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead held up pretty well in second week Sunday, despite tough competition from MTV’s Video Music Awards. However, ratings dropped 16% from the series premiere.

According to Nielsen estimates, Sunday’s episode averaged a 4.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.2 million viewers overall — down 16% in the demo and 19% in total viewers vs. last week’s premiere, which set all-time ratings records for a cable launch in both adults 18-49 (4.9 rating) and total viewers (10.31 million). The premiere telecast, which aired simultaneously around the world, also set global ratings records for the newly launched AMC Global Networks. [Variety]

However ratings are expected to increase over the next few days as fans are expected to watch Fear the Walking Dead on DVR. In “live plus-3” estimates, “Fear the Walking Dead” rose by 37% in 18-49 rating (6.7 vs. 4.9) and by 32% in total viewers (13.3 million vs. 10.1 million) from its “live plus same-day” ratings, according to Nielsen.

Since Fox’s Empire earned a 6.9 whopping rating, the only other show to reach the same ratings numbers was Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead.
