The Transporter actor and Furious 7 villain is headed to the small screen to star in the action thriller Via La Madness for Gaumont International Television, the production company announced Thursday.
According to reports, the drama series is based on the book written by J.J. Connolly and is the sequel to the author’s first novel, Layer Cake, a novel which was later adapted into a movie starring Daniel Craig in 2004.
Statham and Steven Chasman, who owns the rights to the project, will executive produce alongside Connolly, who is set to pen the series.
“Viva La Madness, with its riveting characters and twisting storyline, is a volatile cocktail of action and comedy that only J.J. Connolly can create,” said Gaumont International TV CEO Katie O’Connell Marsh. “Jason Statham, known for his roles in the Transporter trilogy, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, The Bank Job, as well as the recent Furious 7 and Spy, brings such strength and credibility to his characters but also has an effortless shade of vulnerability that gives him so much dimension on screen.”
Viva la Madness centers on an anonymous hero who is stranded in the Caribbean itching for the criminal life he left behind — but who is still a wanted man back home. He soon joins forces with two robust London gangsters: the menacing Sonny King and his paranoid partner Roy “Twitchy” Burns. Described as fast-paced and filled with sarcasm and humor, Viva La Madness takes place in a world of madness that somehow makes terrible sense.

The cast of Degrassi is calling out Drake for his rap lyrics and his past on Degrassi.
Everyone knows Drake for his melodic rap lyrics. However, everybody has to start somewhere, and Drake started from the bottom on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Aubrey Graham played Jimmy Brooks, a basketball player who, in classic soap opera fashion, ended up in a wheelchair after getting shot. As Drake is an illusive figure, you may be wondering what he was like to work with back in the Degrassi days, and you may be hoping that he was a jerk. Well, in the opinion of one of his Degrassi cast-members, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Chloe Roth portrayed the soccer loving, codeine overdosing Katie Matlin on Degrassi, and she recently discussed Drake, and his relationship with the show and the cast. Matlin was recently promoting her new movie Hellions. Rose says the entire cast is “really, really close” and further elaborated upon the niceness of Drake.
“Some of his old cast mates made this web series called We Are Disorderly and he came to the screening and it was so exciting, and at the Royal, such a small little theater, and it was very cool to see him still supporting his friends from way back in the day,” she said. “I think he still loves Degrassi as much — maybe not as much as we love him.”
But, what about “starting from the bottom”? Well, Matlin had some key words to say about that.
“Yeah, sometimes we joke about that, like Degrassi’s the bottom, no, but he like, is always super like gracious and wonderful about it, and supports it still, he’s never like, ’I was never on that show I’m a rapper, what are you talking about,’ so, we appreciate that. Thanks Aubrey.”

The Full Bloom Film Festival is dedicated to bringing quality, diverse cinema to Statesville, NC, a multifaceted art-conscious city in North Carolina. Just north of Charlotte, there is something for everyone. FBFF will take place this year from September 24th through September 26th in and around Historic Downtown Statesville.

Through the dedication and hard work of our directors, committee members, volunteers, sponsoring organizations, corporate partners, patrons, community partners and our loyal audience members, the Charlotte Jewish Film Festival (CJFF) has grown from a small, 2 film event in 2005 that was attended by 140 people into a year round cultural extravaganza that will bring over 28 screenings to an expected audience of more than 4,000 in 2015.
CFIFN provides educational opportunities for members wishing to learn about the film-making process and develop new skills in related areas of production. The group also host the annual Cape Fear Independent Film Festival which brings new and independent artistic visions to the local community. CFIFN takes special notice of North Carolina filmmakers, highlighting their works and the film festival and other events.
The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is an annual international event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of nonfiction cinema. Each spring, Full Frame welcomes filmmakers and film lovers from around the world to historic downtown Durham, North Carolina, for a four-day, morning-to-midnight array of nearly 100 films, as well as discussions, panels, and Southern hospitality. Set within a few city blocks, the intimate festival landscape fosters community and conversation among filmmakers, film professionals, and the public.
The RiverRun International Film Festival, based in Winston-Salem, NC, is one of the premier film festivals in the southeastern United States. The 2016 festival dates will be April 7-17, 2016.
While the museum explores stories from North Carolina’s past through exhibits and programs, the Longleaf Film Festival explores historic and contemporary stories from the state, the country, and the world through narrative and documentary movies. The second annual Longleaf Film Festival will take place on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Museum of History in Raleigh, North Carolina. Longleaf Film Festival 2016 continues the celebration of storytelling through film that is central to our understanding of the world around us.
The Black Arts Alliance was founded in August, 1998, by a group of artists and arts patrons. Recognition as a 501(c)(3) organization was established in an advance ruling by the Internal Revenue Service effective September 23, 1999. The Alliance is governed by a volunteer board of directors, including five officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Membership Secretary. Board members and officers are elected for staggered terms at an annual meeting held in June of each year. Alliance members in good standing are allowed one vote at each quarterly and annual meeting.
Down East Flick Fest (DEFF) is a festival for short independent films with running times of 3 to 15 minutes. DEFF will be held in Greenville, NC, a thriving art community, which is the home of East Carolina University.It will be a juried event, open for both emerging and experienced filmmakers. Genres accepted include drama, comedy, science fiction, fantasy, action, animation, experimental, documentary, and other. Submissions by high school students will be judged separately. All participants will be invited to the reception and screening of the winning films. All filmmakers will receive recognition and notification of the status of their films.
The film scene in Wilmington is even richer for audiences as an exciting new film series debuts: The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival. In association with the Wilmington United Jewish Appeal, the new film festival aims to screen a variety of contemporary films about Jewish life, the arts, current events, and history, with wide appeal for people of all ages. These internationally acclaimed films will encompass universal themes that are relevant to people of all faiths and backgrounds. The intention is to bring to Wilmington quality cinematic entertainment with Jewish content, both feature films and documentaries that will convey the depth and breadth of our Jewish heritage.
The GayCharlotte Film Festival, first established in 2009, has become an annual event in the Queen City. It is a non-profit program whose goal is to entertain, enlighten, and build valuable bridges of understanding, support, and acceptance within and between the LGBTQ and ally communities in the Charlotte region.

Bryan Cranston reveals he’s interested in a ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ reboot.
In news that will probably make the Internet go crazy, Bryan Cranston recently told Entertainment Tonight Canada that he’d love to play Hal Wilkerson on Malcolm In The Middle again. When asked which of his previous shows he’d return to, Cranston told ET Canada “it’d be fun to pick up [Hal’s] clothes again and be fun and sweet and adorable and hapless and clueless and afraid of everything.”
Bryan Cranston played the father of Frankie Muniz’s boy genius for seven seasons on the Fox sitcom series, which also starred Kaczmarek and Christopher Masterson.
Bryan Cranston was also asked if he’d reprise the role of Walter White, but the actor raised doubts on returning to the role, saying “I don’t have a yearning to go back into [Breaking Bad‘s] world because we just covered it completely, I think.”
That is, until Vince Gilligan finds a way to add the actor to the Better Call Saul series.

The film is written by Kirsten Sheridan, Sonya Gildea and Matthew Brown and directed by Derrick Borte with Hubert Taczanowski serving as director of photography.
