Many people have been complaining lately on the number of movies that are being turned into TV shows. But, this is not the first time Hollywood ran out of ideas.

Below you can see the first of three minutes to the TV version of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off that NBC made back in 1990. At it’s best it showcases a prequel to ‘American Psycho’.

But, one of the best parts of the of the ‘Ferris Bueller Day Off’ TV reboot is Jennifer Aniston. This TV spin off was Aniston’s first breakout role.

Loved ‘Gone Girl’? Here’s an Amazing Visual Essay of Director David Fincher

0

Can’t get enough of David Fincher’s ‘Gone Girl’? Here’s an incredible video essay on the filmmaking style of David Fincher.

Tony Zhou has created an amazing visual essay examining the work of the director of ‘Gone Girl’. You may remember Zhou from his visual essay on Martin Scorsese. But, this week Zhou examined and breaks down the Gone Girl director.

So what does it take to create a David Fincher movie? According to Zhou:

In his world, drama happens when a character learns a new piece of information. How does it fit with everything they already know? And how do they react to knowing a little more of the truth.

This would be similar to how Steven Spielberg loves to use closeups on character’s facial reactions, also known as Spielberg’s Face. But, the difference is David Fincher focuses on the character’s moment of “sudden clarity”.

Fincher’s style is an extension of this idea, and it’s interesting to hear him describe his process. “They know you can do anything, so the question is what don’t you do, not what do you do.”

So the question becomes, what does David Fincher not do?

Here is a list of things David Fincher does not like to do

-Hand held camera work.

-Create the sense of a human being operating a camera.

-Cut to a close up unless he needs to.

-Move the camera if he can help it.

Zhou does an amazing analysis with audio commentary of several Fincher movies. Check out the video below to get a great filmmaking perspective and view of what is one of Hollywood’s best directors.

“Redemption” Stage Play and Web Series Casting Call in Chicago

0

Casting “Redemption,” a multimedia production that features a stage play and web series.

Project description: “A series based on political corruption, the art of distraction, and the repercussions of disloyalty in a world slowly embracing necessary evils as a norm. Redemption becomes more difficult to accomplish when your circle is the heart of all of your sins.”

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Damien: Mid 30’s, any ethnicity, clean cut, about 6’1”, athletic build. Looks good in a suit. Damien is a crooked politician, an abusive (emotionally & verbally) husband and neglectful father, involved in a drug cartel and money laundering. Damien is full of himself, very arrogant. He loves his daughter, but doesn’t know how to show it. He uses his daughter for his political advancement but doesn’t support her in life. He is very vengeful. He doesn’t love Amy at all, she’s just something to do. He feels like she has a hidden agenda but he’s so cocky that he doesn’t care. He feels like anything she can create he can counter. He enjoys her trying to keep up with him. He finds it arousing. He doesn’t feel like women are smart or worthy of business dealings. He feels they are only good for one thing…sex.

Amy: Late 20’s, beautiful, any ethnicity, slim build but curvy and sexy. Amy is a conniving, manipulative woman with her own agenda. She loves her husband Dave like she would love a friend or a child. She thinks he’s incapable without her and she may be right. We don’t know. They got married because Dave wanted to get into politics but thought that no one would accept a gay politician. Amy agreed because she likes living the lavish life and it was a business partnership. Amy LOVES Ben. She met him while trying to hire a hit on someone she felt was in the way of her husband’s future in politics. She acts as if she despises Kate! She is using Damien to get Intel but we are unsure of who it’s for. She is the ultimate puppet master, or so we think. She has lived a privileged life and has always been around powerful people. Amy is also spiteful but can seem naïve and vulnerable at times. It’s a part of her manipulation tactics.

John: mid 30’s, slim, muscular, African American, 5’11”-6’1”. John is an undercover narc. He is partners with Det. Jo and met Grace when he went undercover in Damien’s operation. He and Grace fell in love and he adores Brianna. Damien set John/Marco up to take a fall in Belize to get him away from Grace. He wants Grace to get out of the marriage but he’s not aggressive about it. He doesn’t think she has anything to do with the cartel, but he knows that Grace and Brianna are in danger.

Ben: 34 years old Ben is a hit man who works with a lot of politicians. He doesn’t have any family left and he desperately wants to have a child to redeem himself. He is a very spiritual person and he has strong morals. He doesn’t want to kill people but he takes solace in the fact that the people he is killing are bad people. He won’t kill a good person. He does his homework before he completes a job. He will not kill women or children either. He was asked to kill Chelle/Kate 6 years ago, which is how they met. He couldn’t pull the trigger. He married her instead and changed her name and appearance so she wouldn’t be recognized. He loves Kate very much and is in an ongoing sexual relationship with Amy for kicks because she is very uninhibited and likes to role-play. Things he doesn’t do with Kate.

Kate: 30 years old, pretty, curvy, African American, 5’5”-5’7”. Kate is married to Ben, the hit man who saved her life. They are trying to have a baby. She works for an office as an office manager during the week. She doesn’t know her husband is a hit man. She thinks he has a security job with a high profile politician. Kate is very much in love with her husband. She despises Amy, because of the affair with her husband and the harassment. She is usually docile but she has a tendency to get hostile if the situation causes for it.

Grace: 31 years old, Guatemalan, very pretty, slim, fit, angelic face and demeanor. Grace is like an angel. She is very grounded. She doesn’t complain much but she has a breaking point like everyone else. She has tried to leave Damien before but he has always made it impossible, freezing her accounts and sending his police after her. She cares for John a lot. He is good to her. She knows that John is a narc after a while and she meets his partner Jo who John asked to protect them once he saw the abuse. Grace and Jo became close friends.

Brianna: 10 years old, mixed, pretty. She is Grace and Damien’s daughter. Loves to dance and do flips like most kids her age. Doesn’t understand her daddy, but loves him all the same. Doesn’t quite understand what’s going on with her mother and father but she wants to be with her mother if she has to choose. She adores John and Jo. She wants her daddy to pay more attention to her and sometimes feels like she’s not important to him. She keeps trying to get his attention but gives up after a while.

Lance: 27 years old, small build, any ethnicity, 5’7”-5’9”, professional. Lance is a gay reporter trying to make his way to the top. He believes in Dave’s agenda and started working on his campaign to assist in any way he could. They began to have an intimate relationship and he learned how inconsistent Dave is and how confused he is about being gay. Lance doesn’t like Amy very much but he respects her savvy. Lance and John have a business working relationship. Lance gives John intel.

Dave: 33 years old Dave is a good guy. He is just confused about his sexuality. He knows he doesn’t like women and he is torn because he knows politics is a dirty business and they will use any and everything against you. He would love to be the voice for gays in the government, but he doesn’t feel like he is high enough on the totem pole to make a huge difference. He cares about Lance and is blinded by his feelings for Lance sometimes. He loves Amy like a friend. He tolerates her bossiness and bullying because he can see the bigger picture and she holds resources that he needs, so he has to play nice. He understands his role and her role and feels like he has always had control. Since politics is his entire life, when he loses that piece, he loses himself, which drives him to depression and self-destruction.

Detective Jo: 35 years old, female, broad build. Jo is John’s partner. She is tough and direct. She doesn’t play games. She agreed to look after Grace and Brianna while John was undercover which led her to a situation with Damien and she then became his enemy. She doesn’t care for Lance too much. She thinks he’s a snake and that somehow he’s mixed up in all the mess. She becomes close with Grace and Brianna. She wants them to get out of the situation as bad as John does because they both know it’s going to explode!

SUPPORTING ROLES & EXTRAS

All ages & ethnicity!

Reporter Robyn Watts: Pretty, young, feisty, brutally honest, career driven, aggressive. Robyn only wants to get to the truth. She understands the media and how it can be full of propaganda and her show is to dispel that stigma. She only wants the truth and she usually gets it.

Goons: 25-35 years old, big, broad, 6’1”-6’3”, muscular, no nonsense – straight forward – down to business

Lawyer: Any ethnicity, early 40’s, very passionate about law and politics, doesn’t like Damien, humorous in a professional way.

Judge: Older, any ethnicity, straightforward, no nonsense, not bought by Damien, despises dirty politicians.

Jimmy Kimmel Brought Back “Mean Tweets” And They’re Meaner and Funnier Than Ever

One of our favorite segments of late night television aired last night and it was amazing. Jimmy Kimmel Live celebrated the first game of the NFL season presenting “Mean Tweets – NFL Edition,” and it is probably one of the best edition of “Mean Tweets” we have seen lately.

It is amazing to see athletes take insults so well. We can not even imagine how difficult it is to read these mean hateful tweets about yourself. But, they were able to laugh it off and write off the ridiculous things people say on Twitter.

Here are our favorite mean tweets:

@charged

“F**K YOU DWIGHT FREENEY. I HOPE YOUR FOOT RIPS OFF IN THIS GAME YOU D**K.”

@cdot

“DeSean Jackson seems like no matter how much money he makes he won’t stop shopping at Express.”

@InternetRaheem

“Isn’t Steve Smith like 50 years old?”

– “No, actually I’m 35” (direct quote from Steve Smith)

@dope_cope

“Did Brandon Marshall really cry in his post game interview?? Grow some balls bro.”

But the best Mean Tweet (and reaction) of them all was:

Watch the First 5 Minutes of the ‘Unauthorized Saved by The Bell’ Movie [Video]

A sneak preview to the ‘Saved by the Bell’ Movie has finally been released and it looks amazing.

Lifetime’s unauthorized behind the scenes inside look at the 1990’s comedy ‘Saved By the Bell‘ has released the first five minutes of the TV movie.

In the short preview, the cast of ‘Saved By the Bell‘ are shown riding to a fan event and worrying about if anyone will even show up. After getting cancelled by the Disney Channel the cast and crew didn’t want to have to deal with another failure.

The movie shows what was probably happening behind the scenes as America’s favorite Bayside crew.

According to TheWrap, Robin Lippin, the casting director from the original series, also oversaw the casting on the movie.

In the end, Lippin chose Dylan Everett to play Mark-Paul Gosselaar/ “Zack Morris,” Sam Kindseth (“Shameless”) as Dustin Diamond/ “Screech,” Julian Works (“Paranormal Activity”) as Mario Lopez/ “A.C. Slater,” Alyssa Lynch (“The High Jumping Witch”) as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen/ “Kelly Kapowski,” Tiera Skovbye (“Supernatural”) as Elizabeth Berkley/ “Jessie Spano,” and Taylor Russell McKenzie (“Blink”) as Lark Voorhies/ “Lisa Turtle.”

Watch Jennifer Lawrence and Alison Brie’s failed TV pilot from 2007.

In 2007, Alison Brie (Community) and Jennifer Lawrence (Hunger Games) created a TV pilot for Comedy Central spoofing the hit TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.

The TV pilot was for a new show called ‘Not ANother High School Show’. The show didn’t do too well and was never picked up by TV networks. Fortunately for us, the TV pilot was revealed during Jennifer Lawrence’s recent birthday.
