Why Thousands of People are Pissed By Cosmopolitan’s Kardashian Cover

Date:

Tons of people are offended by Cosmopolitan‘s Kardashian cover.

It has been a very rough Monday for the editors over at Cosmopolitan today.

The magazine celebrated its 50th birthday over the weekend and marked the occassion last night by releasing the highly anticipated Kardashian November cover. Except the big reveal didn’t work out as planned.

The cover, which features Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kris Jenner wearing white shirts. It’s also the first time all six women have been photographed together in over four years. The associated article, which will be released in its entirety when the print edition hits newsstands on October 13, which will go into detail as to what makes the family successful and promises new stories from the sisters and their business partners.

But, there is one major problem. America’s First Family is written on the cover in big bold letters. That’s right, Cosmopolitan just compared the Kardashians to the Obamas.

Irregardless of one’s opinion of the Kardashians and their association to Kanye West’s political aspirations, it’s pretty easy to see why Cosmo’s decision to label the family as the first family of America, as controversial. Comparing any non-political family to the Obamas is not the smartest thing to do, and it’s no secret that building a reality show empire fails to compare to protecting Americans.

The magazine is apparently going for shock value, and while it is turning heads it is certainly pissing a ton of people off. The public is taking shots at Cosmo for the headline and let’s just say Twitter users are currently waiting to grab their pitchforks from out of the closet.

The majority of readers are simply upset that comparison does a disservice to the First Lady and President Obama. In fact, many people believe that the POTUS and his family get the respect they deserve.

It is probably safe to assume that the Cosmopolitan editorial team had no intentions of disrespecting the Obama family and were probably trying to find the right words to catch readers’ attention.
