2019 Miss Universe Pageant to Film At Tyler Perry Studios

Tyler Perry Studios to host the 2019 Miss Universe Pageant

Earlier this week, Project Casting reported Tyler Perry Studios would host the next Democratic Presidential Debate. Now, according to reports, Tyler Perry’s new studios ill host the 2019 Miss Universe Pageant. The televised competition will air live from Tyler Perry Studios on December 8th.

The 2019 Miss Universe Pageant features women from 90 different countries competing for the crown of Miss Universe. The three-hour show, hosted by Steve Harvey, will broadcast on Fox and Telemundo.

Tyler Perry Studios is a 330-acre studio and features 12 soundstages named after black actors and actresses.

Dwayne Johnson Buys Mansion in Georgia for Nearly $9.5 Million

Dwayne Johnson spends $9.5 million for a mansion estate in Georgia.

According to TMZ, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has bought a 14,000 square foot home in Powder Springs, Georgia for nearly $9.5 million.

It was sold earlier this month and the home was for sale for more than a year before Dwayne Johnson bought it.

Dwayne Johnson has filmed several feature films in the Peach State including “Jumanji: The Next Level”, “Jungle Cruise”, “Baywatch”, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”, and “Furious 7”.

The new home says the mansion was built in 2003 and has eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms. It also features a barn for horses and is only 45 minutes away from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Dwayne Johnson is not the only A-list actor to move to buy property in Georgia. Actress Melissa McCarthy bought home in metro Atlanta.

Details for the project have not been released. However, according to reports, the upcoming “Suicide Squad” feature film is filming under the code name “El Dorado”. It’s currently unknown what the story will revolve around, but this title could give us a little clue.

James Gunn will work as the writer and director for “The Suicide Squad” and will follow David Ayer’s 2016 film “Suicide Squad”. However, instead of being a sequel to the Ayer production, this is described as a new perspective to the franchise from the mind of Gunn that will feature a mix of new and old characters.

Viola Davis is coming back to play Amanda Waller, while Margot Robbie is set to reprise her role of Harley Quinn. Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman will be returning to play Captain Boomerang and Rick Flagg, respectively.

That said, Idris Elba will be replacing Will Smith but will play a new character and not Deadshot. Deadshot has been written out of the movie but may return in the future with Will Smith returning.

‘Doctor Sleep’: Ewan McGregor Reveals How He Got Into Character

Ewan McGregor reveals how he got into character for Stephen King‘s ‘Doctor Sleep‘.

You can not deny the cultural impact of Stephen King’s ‘The Shining’ movie had on pop culture. Now, Warner Bros. is resisting Stephen King with a sequel to ‘The Shining’ in the Georgia-filmed production ‘Doctor Sleep’.

Ewan McGregor stars as Danny Torrance, who in the original movie was revealed to have psychic abilities that allowed him to see the horrors of the Overlook Hotel where his family was staying.

The sequel picks up with Danny being a middle-aged man struggling to deal and now suffering from alcoholism due to the trauma from his childhood.

How did Ewan McGregor prepare for the role?

According to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McGregor says he “spent a lot of time watching Jack’s performance, because I’m playing his son and I wanted to feel like really his son; I think we carry a lot of our fathers with us through our lives,” the star said at the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday. 

While the movie is considered a sequel, McGregor says, I didn’t feel like we were revisiting anything. We were very much following on from that story, so I didn’t feel like we were looking backwards.”

Rebecca Ferguson plays the leader of a cult that feeds on children with psychic powers. She said she was hesitant about working on the project since it is a sequel to the pop-cultural phenomenon. But after meeting with the movie’s writer and director Mike Flanagan, she says, “all of my worries about doing what could be seen as a sequel flew out of the window, because I felt very secure in his vision and what he wanted to do, and the support that he had from Stephen King.”

How is ‘Doctor Sleep’ different than ‘The Shining’?

Flanagan said ‘Doctor Sleep’ is different than ‘The Shining’ because it is focusing on recovery instead of addiction.

“There’s so many reasons in this hostile world to try to cover it up and try to suppress it, but what I loved about this story was that Stephen King was saying, ‘Don’t do that, shine on, let that out no matter how frightening the world is,'” the director said. He also spoke to the importance of addressing childhood trauma and its affect on adulthood, which is “something very much in my wheelhouse and something I love to explore.” 

Flanagan thanks King for making ‘Doctor Sleep’ set in modern-day. He says, “I was already able to tell a story that people hadn’t heard before, and a story that Kubrick certainly never took a swing at before,” he said. One component that did stay the same, though, was the Overlook Hotel setting, which the team re-created for this film and that had the cast and crew “giggling like kids, all of us.”

Georgia-Filmed ‘Lodge 49’ Canceled After 2 Seasons

AMC has chosen not to renew its Georgia-filmed series “Lodge 49” for a third season.

The news comes only two weeks after the series second season ended on AMC. According to Deadline, the show’s creator and showrunner are planning to shop the show to outlets.

“We are so proud to have had Lodge 49 on our air,” AMC said in a statement to Deadline. “This wonderful show gave audiences fresh and unforgettable characters in a world that did not exist anywhere else on television. Thanks to the stellar cast including Wyatt Russell, Sonya Cassidy, and Brent Jennings and to our partners in this unique labor of love, Jim Gavin, Peter Ocko and Paul Giamatti for two remarkable seasons that initiated the world into The Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx.”

“Lodge 49” had a major rating drop. The show’s rating was down 40% from Season 1 but, has a huge fan base with an 86 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 1 and 100% for Season 2.

The series stars Wyatt Russell and is executive produced by Paul Giamatti, Randall Einhorn, Jeff Freilich, and Peter Ocko. The series is a dark comedy about an optimistic ex-surfer, Dud, who’s cruising following the death of his father. Dud finds himself on the doorstep of a fraternal lodge that may — or may not help Dud find himself in life.
