Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Movie in Development

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood will hitting the big screen pretty soon so, it may be just be a sunny day in the movie theaters pretty soon.

From  Tim Madigan’s 2006 memoir, I’m Proud of You, the film will tell the story of Madigan’s deep friendship with Rogers that spanned from 1995 until Rogers’ death in 2003. They met while Madigan was on assignment for a story, and continued to bond as Rogers helped him through depression and his relationship with his own father.

According to EW, Little Miss Sunshine helmers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris are set to direct  I’m Proud of You.

Return of Chewbacca? Star War: Episode VII Casting Call for Wookies

A casting call for seven-foot actors from the studios behind the new Star Wars films has fueled speculation that wookiees could be making a return to the long-running space saga.

Disney, Lucasfilm and production company Bad Robot, owned by director JJ Abrams, issued the call via a British casting and auction service, Spotlight. Star War: Episode VII is being filmed in London early next year for a 2015 release date.

The call, for a movie cited only as “untitled studio feature” is for a “male 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus.” The wookie-like requirements were first picked up by Den of Geek.

Peter Mayhew, who played Han Solo’s wookiee sidekick Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy, stood at an impressive 7 ft 2″ and also had what might be described as broad facial features. The wookiees were notably revived for 2005 prequel Return of the Sith, in which an entire army of the furry fuzzballs was seen defending its home planet of Kashyyyk.

Meanwhile, JJ Abrams has further hinted that he will eschew the CGI-heavy approach of Star Wars creator George Lucas in the prequel films when he shoots Episode VII. LucasFilm’s new president, Kathleen Kennedy, said in June that the new trilogy of films would use “real locations with special effects” akin to the original trilogy that ran between 1977 and 1983. Now Abrams has told Entertainment Weekly his film will be “as emotional and authentic and exciting as possible”.

HGTV lovers who love those handy “Property Brothers” Drew and Jonathan Scott and wish for the opportunity to get on one of their shows, now’s your chance!

HGTV is casting the second season of “Brother vs. Brother,” as well as a brand new renovation competition series. Casting will take place Oct. 13 in Manhattan.

“For ‘Brother vs. Brother’ we’re looking for: Passionate, charismatic individuals who have major hands-on skills, an eye for renovation and real estate know-how,” says casting associate Darlene Gilbertie. So: contractors, carpenters, interior designers, architects, real estate professionals, artists and those with design expertise.

For the new renovation competition series, the casting directors are looking for: “Dynamic friends, couples or family members with big dreams and a love for renovation and design.” Meaning: Handy teams of two who think they have a superior eye for design. Although home renovation experience is a plus, it is not required.

Applicants for the competition show should bring a resume, two recent pictures of the teammates and, if applicable, a minimum of six photos of renovation projects or rooms you have redesigned. Everyone must be 18 years of age or older, too.

ABC’s “Resurrection” Casting Call for Extras in Atlanta for 4-Day Booking

Background extras are currently being sought for the upcoming ABC television series Resurrection in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

The TV series is based on the novel The Returned by Jason Mott and is being co-produced by Brad Pitt and Aaron Zelman.

The pilot was officially ordered to series on May 10, 2013 and was placed on the schedule as a limited series to run during the  2013–14 television season.

The series centers on the residents of Arcadia, Missouri, whose lives take a surprising turn when their loved ones return from the dead, unaged since their supposed deaths, including Jacob Garland, an 8-year-old boy drowned thirty years earlier. Having been found in China, he is brought back to America by an Immigration Agent. His surprise return causes the local sheriff, whose wife drowned trying to rescue Jacob, to learn more about this mystery.  The cast lineup includes actor Omar Epps, Frances Fisher, Devin Kelley, Kurtwood Smith, and Landon Gimenez in his first big role as young Jacob Garland.

‘Catatonk Blues’ Casting Call for Extras in Maine this October

A casting call will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tradewinds Motor Inn in Rockland on Saturday, Sept. 28, for the movie, Catatonk Blues, set to begin filming later this month in Rockland, Rockport, and Augusta.

PenBayPilot, announced the open casting call on their website.

Catatonk Blues script was developed and written  by former New York Congressman and part-time Monhegan resident Robert Mrazek.

Catatonk Blues tells the story of Charlie Winship, a burned-out Congressman from Maine. As a young marine, Winship survived the battle at Khe San in Vietnam. His anger over the war has led to nearly two decades in the political trenches of Washington and the loss of his marriage.

In Catatonk Blues, Winship is accused of defaming one of the nation’s most revered patriotic symbols while cut off from communications on an island fighting to save its way of life from international fishing interests.

Actor Treat William has been cast to play Winship. Mrazek is co-directing with actor and director Jared Martin.

Casting directors are seeking local Maine non-union extras, ages 18-70, are needed to play tourists, Congressional staffers, Congressmen, political supporters, television crew members, and fishermen. Half-day scenes to be shot in Rockland in early October require two hundred extras, all ages, male and female, to play a cross section of Maine citizens including Charlie’s constituents, veterans, teachers, lobstermen, and laborers.

Compensation for non-union extras is set at $7.50 per hour with mainland filming scheduled for Sept 20-Oct 7. Time and a half will be paid after eight hours in the same day. Performers must be availalble for the full day.

Interested parties should be at the Tradewinds Motor Inn, 2 Park Drive in Rockland, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, and available to work thereafter.

Burt Reynolds is Back! “Elbow Grease” Starring Burt Reynolds Casting Call for Extras

According to  the Anderson Independent-Mail, Burt Reynolds is starring in a movie that films in South Carolina at the end of the month.

The romantic comedy is titled ‘Elbow Grease,’ and based in a fictional town named Guppie.

Crews will film scenes around Lake Keowee and Seneca. Reynolds will play a grandfather.

Reynolds has shot movies in Oconee County in the past. Part of the 1970s film ‘Deliverance’ was shot there.

Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander tells 7 On Your Side that filming will start September 30 and the main cast will be in the area for at least 30 days. The crew could be in town for at least two to three months.

SF Bay Area local Extras for new HBO Series “Looking” (formerly Untitled Michael Lannan Project) Shooting 9/16-11/8 in SF
Weekday Shoots Only. Background Actor Needs Will Be Updated Frequently! 

We are casting paid extras 18 yrs & over for “Looking”, an HBO dramedy revolving around the lives of 3 gay friends in San Francisco, starring Jonathan Groff, shooting weekdays 9/16–11/8 mostly in SF. Background needs will be updated here, and there will be a constant need for 20s-30s to portray Hipsters, Mission Neighborhood types and LGBT Community, so if date below has passed we are still seeking submissions!

CURRENTLY SEEKING THE FOLLOWING TYPES:

* NEW: For Monday 9/23 we are seeking 2 SF Bay Area local Latin men, 18yrs – late 20s or young looking 30s who can portray tough thugs or gang member types for a 2 hour still photo shoot (time TBD) in San Francisco. Men will likely wear tank tops and tattoos are a plus! The photo will appear in a google search performed by one of the main actors and men may or may not be recognizable in the image. Union status does not matter since it is a photo shoot. The rate if selected is $84.40 flat for 2hrs. Reference: Latin 9/23 in subject line of submission and include Tattoo photos in email if you have any.

* Men & Women 21 yrs – 30s to portray Gay Men, Lesbian Women or Transgender for future Castro bar scenes! Must be willing to dance with same sex partners, be at least 21yrs old and avail morning to evening. Reference: Castro Bar in subject line in subject line of your submission and include advance weekday availability. If real couple, reference Castro Bar Couple and please check with friend/partner before submitting, include their name & contact info and recent photo of you together if possible.

* Men & Women 18 years – 30s to portray Hipsters for future Mission neighborhood or Bar scenes. Must be able to pull off Hipster vibe with your own clothes & styling. No minors and must be at least 21yrs old for bar scenes. Reference role type: Hipster in subject line of your submission and include weekday availability.

Hours/Rates/Employment: Shoots last up to 10-12hrs on average. Start times are unknown until the night before, so you must be avail all day, early morning. i.e. 6AM to night without conflict. SAG/AFTRA members get Union scale. For shoots in San Francisco, Non Union Extras are paid $84.40 for 8hrs plus overtime at time and ½ based on SF min wage $10.55/hr. Outside of SF, CA State min wage $8.00/hr applies. U.S. Citizens must have a current U.S. Passport OR both a valid Drivers License with Social Security Card or Birth Certificate. Non Citizens must have Green Card, Permanent Resident Card or Work Authorization from Dept. of Homeland Security. This ID must be presented on set for I-9 paperwork or you cannot be employed and you will be turned away.

* Attach 2 new camera phone or digital camera color snapshots, 1 close up from chest & 1 standing view (no hats or sunglasses)
*Tattoos: Men with tattoos willing to remove shirt in gay bar scenes should describe placement, size and include tattoo photo(s) if possible.

Send photo attachments, preferably jpg files. Submissions with links only will be ignored. For most roles we have to share photos with Production for Director approval and BBC staff will contact you if selected.
