Director of Communications
The Sage Group’s client, an award winning independent creative agency with a roster of iconic brands and modern organizations, is seeking a Director of Communications who will be an outstanding communicator and leader to oversee internal/external communications for the agency. The Director of Communications will help our team develop story angles and narratives that will convey the company’s message meaningfully and impactfully. Will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing communications strategies that align with the business market positioning, audience strategy, and growth objectives.
- Be the thought leader and drive all communications opportunities from the ground up, including agency relations, strategy, collaboration, and media outreach and relations.
- Develop and implement PR strategies to support our agency’s goals, people, and client work.
- Foster existing industry relationships as well as establish and develop new connections with the ad trade press, industry influencers, and general media professionals
- Work alongside our new business development team on agency positioning and storytelling.
- Manage awards program narratives for the agency, the work, and our employees.
- Craft the continued development of an internal communications plan
- Collaborate with the executive leadership team on internal communications strategies, initiatives, and materials to better engage and inform our employees
- Manage corporate brand and cultural identity across multiple communications channels and audiences while ensuring cohesive messaging and position for the company.
- Manage incoming media requests with a carefully curated response guide and brand voice standards
Skills and experiences to be successful:
- A love for cultivating connections with industry leaders, reporters, influencers, and clients
- 7+ years of established public relations experience, preferably in-house for globally recognized and admired brands or ad agency experience +
- Serve as a critical leader on the communications team, advising positioning, driving strategy, and supporting all communications across the agency internally and externally.
- Proven experience managing top tier press for leading brands
- Excellent writer and storyteller with the ability to develop relevant messaging for a variety of internal and external communications
- A passionate, innovative leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to support agency outreach and email correspondence with press and current + prospective clients
- Lead all marketing and communications materials across agency-owned content platforms and press, thought leadership, media list, and awards

The base salary for this position may range from $125,000 to $150,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including experience, level of responsibility, qualifications, location, and business needs.

Product Marketing connects the dots between Sales, Marketing and Product. We are very lucky to have an enterprise-sales motion, a Product-led growth motion and a self-service portal that supports thousands of calls daily.
That sets up the backdrop for this PMM role. We love developers. This role focuses on the Developer Tools aspect of our business. Reporting to the VP of Product Marketing, this team member will partner with engineering, product management, sales, and the broader marketing team to position products to developers.
You Have
Product Messaging & Positioning: Drive the creation and communication of clear product messages, key points of differentiation, and market opportunities.
Must have worked for tech firms (integration, automation, developer, devOps, security, etc.) are highly desirable
Content: Create presentations, demos, data sheets, white papers, ebooks and more that highlight product value for internal and external stakeholders.
Market Analysis: Conduct market research to understand competitive landscape, target audiences and establish product differentiators.
Product Launches: Work with product management and marketing team and Director of Product Marketing to plan and execute launches of net-new products, features and capabilities.
Manage the cross-functional implementation of launch plans to maximize impact.
Presentation Skills: Must be self-sufficient in creating presentations and presenting to Sales and customers at both internal and external events.
You Will
Empathy and desire to understand the world of software development and the humans who write, test and build code to launch applications.
5+ years of product marketing experience at B2B SaaS companies or marketing highly technical products.
Over 5 years’ working experience, with ability to drive complex projects across functions and work independently.
Excellent communication skills, capable of writing and presenting about a complex, technical product to internal and external audiences.
Strong grasp of technology and desire to understand all our technology, with the ability to parse technical concepts into compelling business value.
Self-motivated individual willing to roll up their sleeves and achieve results in a fast paced, hands-on environment.
Passionate storyteller with an attention to detail and ability to deliver content on time at high quality.
Excitement to craft sales and marketing content including webinars, pitch decks, playbooks, data sheets, white papers, case studies and more.
Ability to get things done quickly, learn, and improve in a global team environment.
Must be SF Bay area based. This role requires presence in the San Francisco HQ office 1-3 days/week.

About the role
We’re looking for a conceptual art director and designer who can bring the brand to life across all our customer touch points with bold ideas. You will work on a customer-focused team to design product, digital, and print communications. The job involves working collaboratively with global marketing teams, creative problem solving, and creating clear and compelling design. This visual craftsperson should know what works and what doesn’t, should have superb layout and graphic design skills and a mastery over storyboards, as well as big platform ideas and how they flex across the funnel.
This role will entail communicating effectively with the creative/art directors, designers, copywriters, developers, project and marketing managers. This person should be able to think beyond a single channel execution, identify new opportunities and execute on complex design & communication strategies. Be prepared to develop concepts and ideas from the ground up, pitch ideas to leadership, and create compelling, relevant, and meaningful work. As an art director, you’ll work on multiple projects, prioritizing as needed and efficiently managing time while receiving strategic and tactical direction. You’ll intelligently explore the problem space with a high degree of autonomy, using the appropriate tools and levels of fidelity. Owning the design process end-to-end, moving from concept through to shipping, at multiple fidelity levels and producing handoffs to support that process.
Responsibilities
- Set the visual tone and direction of campaigns, building concepts and bring them to life
- Design digital, owned, and print channels for a brand platform where ideas can work globally and scale locally
- Develop resources, guidelines and templates that empower the global marketing team to create beautiful and thoughtful brand expressions
- Collaborate and ideate with multidisciplinary team including copywriters, communication designers, illustrators, environments designers, brand strategists, marketing managers, and creative directors to build and maintain visual brand excellence for a wide range of design needs

Requirements
5+ years working as an Art Director/Designer in a creative agency or comparable in-house agency
Expertise in Figma and Adobe suite application
Pixel-perfect attention to detail
Experience working with business and marketing stakeholders; receiving feedback and adapting work
Experience managing large projects; ability to design according to business and technical requirements and comfort with ambiguity and changes in direction
Portfolio of beautiful, compelling marketing and brand oriented work
Experience working on a range of digital projects including responsive web pages, paid media and email templates
A solid understanding of typography and designing to a grid
Experience designing for different audiences (B2B, consumer, enterprise)
Proficiency in quickly iterating in design for customer testing
Experience concepting and designing for social campaigns
Ability to collaborate with a large team and take direction
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in digital marketing (Email, in-app, SMS/PUSH, paid social and display channels) best practices
