Point B Communications, a branding & advertising agency in Chicago’s West Loop, is searching for an Art Director to join its growing creative department.

The Art Director Role

The right fit for our Art Director role will have core competency in layout building and typography for print and digital projects within established brands. This person should be very comfortable with core Adobe apps such as inDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and XD and yes, even Keynote/Powerpoint/GSuite productivity. Our Art Director will exercise their skills in creating graphic projects such as collateral systems, direct mail, landing pages, banners, and more. Things aren’t always so predictable though – they could also oversee projects such as environmental graphics, bus wraps, logos, and anything else our clients throw at us. Willingness to adapt, identify and ask for missing resources, and learning as they go will be important. 

This person is obsessed with layout and clear communication of information – They are skilled in creating systems of visual hierarchy that correctly communicate information priority, are visually engaging, and scalable across multimedia design systems. They don’t just set the copy – they strive to understand it, so they can communicate it correctly and make thoughtful edits. This person must be fastidiously organized and methodical in their approach to creative file setup, organization, and asset management, and be willing to adhere to teamwide standards of process as well as assist in building new ones. Our Art Director should know their way around vendor specifications and be able to build production-ready files with minimal supervision. This person should be an excellent creative proofer with an obsessive eye for detail, able to effectively troubleshoot graphic design challenges small and large.

Job Functions:

+ Creates a variety of digital and print-ready documents and graphics for clients in multiple industries, including: hospitality, retail, telecom, and tourism.

+ Is comfortable working independently or collaboratively, as part of a creative team with other roles such as Creative Directors, Editors, Developers, and other roles.

+ Understands brand guides and past projects to implement appropriate choices for new projects.

+ Displays keen attention-to-detail and is skilled at gathering, organizing, and understanding information from multiple sources.

+ Skillfully interprets specifications from different print and digital vendors. Creates work that is accurate and on-spec. Understands how to identify and ask for missing information

+ Is responsible for multiple projects of various types for different client teams at any one time, with the assistance of a Traffic Manager.

+ Communicates regularly with Account Managers, Traffic Manager, and other resources to understand project goals, schedules, and budgets.

+ Estimates hours on assigned project work. Understands how those estimates may affect provided overall budgets.

+ Actively and passionately keeps up-to-date on new design trends as well as classic design theory to create new concepts that are both compelling and appropriate.

App Know-How, Qualifications and Next Steps

+ Expertise in core Adobe applications (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD) and also Keynote / Powerpoint

+ Knowledge of digital best practices in prepping assets for web development is required

+ Understanding of storytelling through video, storyboarding, and working with video editors preferred but not required

+ Minimum 3-5 years experience as a working Designer or Art Director.

Responsibilities

Our Creative Director will report to our home office in Columbus, Ohio and will be responsible for managing creative projects for Rise Brands and its family of brands. This position reports to our Marketing + Creative leader. The job responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the creative process from concept to completion, aligning team and company goals to increase sales and enhance guest experience
  • Conceptualize campaigns and creative needs; lead brainstorming/creative sessions to generate new ideas/creative direction for new and existing concepts across a multitude of tactics (e.g. digital, print, video, in-store experiences)
  • Direct and provide precise feedback/direction on all creative campaigns
  • Provide active leadership and timely coaching + development to a team of 5-6 creative professionals
  • Work with Leadership and HR to evaluate and identify staffing needs for the creative team structure and lead talent acquisition efforts for future creative roles
  • Build and manage relationships with outside partners/vendors in tandem with the Creative Project Manager.
  • Overall accountability of organization and allocation of resources for creative project schedules and budgets
  • Oversee the delivery of creative for internal/external communications aligned with company strategic goals
  • Collaborate across departments to establish and uphold holistic brand guidelines for existing and growing brands
  • Ensure creative content reflect the brands consistently and positively
  • Foster a positive and inspiring work environment
  • Maintain a curious and innovative mindset; stay up to date on trends, technologies, and tools that will help you and the company deliver best in class creative content/experiences across our brands

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, in design or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive creative leadership experience, preferably several years in a director capacity.
  • Highly proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
  • Proven experience developing creative assets across a multitude of tactics, including but not limited to, print, digital, branded imagery, product design and in-store installation.
  • Detail oriented leader with proven ability to execute multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Experience leading a team of in-house and agency creative professionals
  • Ability to develop a strong network of external partners

Preferred

  • Interior or environmental design experience
  • Experience supporting brands within the hospitality space
  • Experience supporting multiple brands simultaneously

[SCOUT] Character is female presenting, any ethnicity and appears age 25-35. She has wild hair and truly believes you must be a starving artist to pay your dues. She lives in a small artists’ collective apartment full of instruments, wires, and a twin mattress on the floor. Her stuff is scrapped up and well used/worn. She is an obsessive multi-instrumentalist who makes all her own music, looping her sounds with pedals. She finds melody in everyday things around her, like forks, knives, and nature. Her voice is easy, ethereal, interesting and raw. She can sing pitch perfect. She tries to make money playing gigs at underground dance clubs in Los Angeles. Music has been an integral part of her life ever since sitting in church pews listening to the hymns as a child. She would die to keep making music.

Our digital agency is looking for an Art Director with Motion Graphics experience to start working with the team for an immediate 3+ month contract; previous experience in health and wellness or retail industries required for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and develop visually striking motion graphics and kinetic typography concepts that align with our clients’ advertising objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with creative teams, including copywriters, designers, and video producers, to create cohesive and impactful video content.
  • Leverage client footage to create dynamic video content inclusive of campaign teaser videos, launch videos, and social tactics – incorporating motion graphics and kinetic typography elements to enhance storytelling.
