“Nevada” Feature Film Open Casting Call

CASTING FEATURE FILM NEVADA

We are casting Jane Schoenbrun’s new film NEVADA, produced by Tango. The film is adapted from Imogen Binnie’s cult classic novel of the same title. Casting the two leads – Maria & James, this is a nationwide search.

Logline: Maria, an emotionally-stunted transgender punk on an aimless road trip across the country has a chance encounter with James H., a repressed minimum-wage worker trapped in the purgatory that is rural Nevada. Over the next 24 hours, the two form an unlikely bond as Maria helps James unpack a question he’s been frightened to ask himself his entire life: is he trans?

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

[MARIA] 25-40’s. Trans Woman. Any ethnicity. Maria is an old school, no-surrender-no-defeat, anti-assimilationist punk. She tries every day to wear her heart on her sleeve (along with lots of patches, of course), but in many ways Maria is also emotionally stunted from a lifetime of trauma and the exhaustion of operating outside the bounds of normative society. LEAD. Talent can be based anywhere in US.

[JAMES H.] 18-25. Any ethnicity. A sweet, spacey, gentle kid with a complex interior world. James is the sort of ethereal, head-in-the-clouds dreamer who lives most of his days inside his own brain, and who gets mistaken for strange and unambitious as a result. There’s something unmistakably queer about James, but he’s too busy hiding in fantasy to explore his own sexuality. LEAD. Talent can be based anywhere in US. 

Nike Jordan – She Rise Campaign Casting Call

CASTING NIKE JORDAN – SHE RISE CAMPAIGN
We are casting an upcoming Nike Jordan ‘She Rise’ campaign, directed by Karim Huu Do and produced by Object & Animal. We are casting the lead role of Mia, a young basketball player with big dreams. This is a nationwide search.

For the role of Mia, we are considering talent with and without acting experience. Most importantly, we are looking for individuals with a unique presence and spark, and high level basketball skills.

Talent Rate: Session Rate: $500/day for each shoot day, rehearsal day and travel day
Usage Rate: $7,500 + 20% agency fee (if applicable). Usage rate is not guaranteed.

PLEASE NOTE: NCAA rules restrict the brand’s ability to financially compensate some college-age or younger talent for participation in this campaign. Furthermore, college-age individuals who play or plan to play sports professionally may not be able to participate. This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Mia is an incredibly driven young woman, but one who is prone to doubting herself when she struggles to live up to her own high expectations. Her drive is to be the greatest basketball player, period. Beneath this is an intelligent person with a vivid imagination, a supportive family and a close, but small, group of friends. 

Mia’s basketball journey will be told through a series of vignettes infused with timeless poetry and meaning. They will capture the poignant moments of Mia’s early life as she gains strength and confidence in the game and in herself.
