Netflix announces a six-part, live-action, ‘The Witcher’ spin-off series titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin.’
The new series is set 12000 before the original series and will focus on the very first Witcher and how the dangerous job started. While the details for the new show have not been released, the upcoming Netflix series is created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the latter of which works as the original Netflix series’ showrunner.
‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ will also showcase the culture of Elves, the history of men, and the universe’s monsters, which was not explored in the main series. It is speculated the creator of the series Andrzej Sapkowski will most likely get hired as a creative consultant.
“1200 years before Geralt of Rivia, the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged into one, and the first Witcher came to be,” reads an official pitch of the series. “Announcing The Witcher: Blood Origin, a 6 part live-action The Witcher spin-off series from Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.”
“This has been the toughest secret to keep,” added Hissrich alongside the announcement. “I’ve always wanted to dive deeper into the myth and lore of the Continent, and now fans will have a chance to explore it with Declan de Barra in a prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin. Elves, and enemies, and the end, oh my…”
Currently, there is no release date, production date, or casting calls so far.
