Netflix’s ‘Sweet Magnolias’ is returning for a second season.
Netflix confirmed the news this week stars JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley (who play best friends Maddie Townsend, Dana Sue Sullivan, and Helen Decatur) will be returning for a second season.
“It’s a dream come true,” showrunner and executive producer Sheryl Anderson tells Glamour from her home in L.A.. “I’m thrilled and excited to come back with a cast and a crew that I love so much. It’s such a valentine to everybody who worked so hard to make Serenity such a beautiful place. JoAnna, Brooke, and Heather and I were jumping up and down while texting each other, and we look forward to doing that over Zoom too.”
Due to the Coronavirus, there is no official release date yet. “That’s a reflection of not having our production date nailed down yet,” Anderson explains. “I don’t know how to do this show without kissing, so we want to make sure everybody is safe and feels comfortable returning to the passion of Serenity.”
Netflix confirms all three leads will return for season 2. Anderson explains the plan is to film back on location in Georgia.
In related news, Spider-Man 3 was expected to film in Atlanta, Georgia this July. However, due to filming for ‘Uncharted’, the release date for ‘Spider-Man 3’ was pushed back to December 2021. Filming has officially started on the ‘Uncharted’ film starring Tom holland. As a result, the upcoming third installment in Tom Holland ‘Spider-Man’ franchise is going to take longer to hit theaters. Sony announced this week they are pushing back the release for the movie.
