Mascot Books is a hybrid publisher dedicated to helping authors professionally create a printed or digital book that matches their vision. With comprehensive editorial, design, production, marketing, and distribution services, our authors have the support of an experienced publishing team. We’re seeking a production editor who is comfortable taking on new challenges and has a passion for books.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the production of a high volume of titles per year across a variety of genres, including business, current affairs, adult and YA fiction, self-help, fitness and wellness, coffee table and cookbooks, and children’s picture books
  • Work directly with authors, illustrators, editors, and graphic designers to coordinate all aspects of a book’s development from concept to print
  • Provide comprehensive guidance to authors throughout every step of the production process—including editing, design, and printing—informed by current market trends as well house and industry standards
  • Create and maintain publishing timelines for each title
  • Vet, contract, and supervise freelancers and maintain contract budgets

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Communications, or a related field
  • 2-5 years of client relations experience
  • 2-5 years of professional editing experience
  • 2-5 years of publishing experience a strong plus
  • Candidate should be a strong editor; familiar with The Chicago Manual of Style, industry standards, and overall writing structures; and able to provide editorial feedback on manuscripts from various genres
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, extremely well-organized, and a creative problem solver
  • Candidate should be able to prioritize competing tasks, meet deadlines, effectively multitask, and handle high priority projects as they arise
  • Candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills

What you’ll do:

As an Expert Production Artist, you will contribute to a WOW! customer experience by efficiently and accurately preparing and redrawing customer artwork. To ensure a high-quality print, you will transform both uploaded and non-uploaded imagery into print-ready files and make adjustments to Custom Ink clipart files based on customer requests.

You communicate regularly with team members on specific orders, and maintain a high level of personal accuracy and quality of work. It will be essential for you to work cooperatively with other Ops Teams to ensure high customer satisfaction and team member satisfaction.

Further, you will contribute to the success of the Expert Production Art team by assisting in the ongoing efforts to improve art tools and processes. Additionally, during periods of decreased order volume, you may work on projects outside of orders or work to support other teams in orders.

Summary

The Marketing Print Production Specialist assists with and partners with the Sr. Manager – Marketing (Media & Analysis) and media agency in the development, coordination, and implementation of media strategy focusing on primarily print production & distribution along with supporting functions for other media channels (Print, OOH, TV, Radio, Digital, Social).

What You’ll Do

  • Communicate and work with creative production team, newspaper vendors, and agencies to validate versions, verify circulation data, and production qty on a weekly basis
  • Maintain database and report weekly circulation database, in-store qty. allocation reporting, distribution details and media rates working with agency
  • Coordinate with regional marketing teams, sales organizations and other departments to report print distribution qty/coverage and other details
  • Prepare Ad-hoc mapping/distribution summary deck
  • Format/upload data into GIS system and update master excel files
  • Organize, implement and control the day-to-day media planning development process
  • Monitor media campaigns and when needed have campaign performance meetings internally and/or with client
  • Monitor development and review media buys and post-buy analysis

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or Business
  • 1 – 3 years of relatable experience
  • Understanding of print advertising including zoning methodology, circulation rules and rate information
  • Familiarity with TV/Radio/Digital/Social advertising
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

Job Description

Do you have a keen eye for capturing beautiful imagery when creating video, video edits, photography and design? Are you a strategic thinker with a creative knack for crafting stories and visuals who knows your way around social media? Do you want to be among other video creators, learn hands-on with a team assisting on set, while at the same time amass a greater body of photo and video work for your portfolio? Are you a self-starter who works well on your own and known to be a good communicator? (self-starter is especially necessary as we split work in the office and can have some remote work as well with Pandemic protocol) Jpixx, is looking for someone like you to join our team!

This internship is approximately 5 months from the start of it, and will focus on engaging our audience to our company and brand in a visually appealing way on social media and other ways. The candidate will attend shoots on location and perform as a production assistant on set while also implementing marketing initiatives and working remotely from their home as well as some in-office time when not on shoots.

Qualifications

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

  • Must be a recent grad or motivated self-taught video person or similar or working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Writing, Graphic Design, Photography, Video or related fields.
  • Able to work at least 40 hours per week with flexibility within schedule for occasional nights, weekends, schedule changes and potential travel. Due to this schedule a recent graduate is ideal to be able to handle the flexible schedule for the full term. Continuous weekly commitments within weekdays are very hard to work around – due to travel and production hours – ideally you will be able to focus on this opportunity fully.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with a positive attitude and self-motivation.
  • An ability to effectively communicate with team members and strong writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Publisher, Illustrator or other graphic design programs.
  • Must have excellent proof reading, willingness to take initiative, think creatively and solve problems.
  • Ability to function well in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to work efficiently remotely, on location in Virginia Beach area and beyond and in our office.
  • Familiarity with social media applications and best practices (Blogs, Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Twitter, YouTube).
  • An understanding of basic marketing principles.
  • Technical ability and knowledge of photography.
  • Comfort with communicating with internal partners at all levels and as well as an external audience.

The ideal intern candidate is willing to jump right in – and is very comfortable with cameras; what makes a dynamic composition and how to make the most of available light. Also would know what needs to go into an edit to capture audience attention and tell the story. Will work well independently and is not afraid to ask for what they need as we are a small business and all working on many things at once from our home or at the office, when not on shoots on location. They will have a strong ability to problem solve, multi-task and collaborate with others. We are looking for someone well-versed in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Instagram etc.), and will have a desire to get deep into content creation and continue to hone their craft alongside a team of professionals!

arvold.casting is now accepting submissions for extras to work on the upcoming feature film “Gravediggers”. Filming in Richmond, VA and the surrounding areas October through November 2021.

Extra work is paid, including all necessary COVID testing and fittings. Housing and travel is not provided. Filming generally takes place Monday through Friday, and is often a 12+ hour commitment for each day of work. Casting is ongoing through November.
