Fox is now planning on turning Mega Man into a tentpole movie series.
The Mega Man franchise has appeared in over 50 games, selling over 30 million video game units, and of course Hollywood is looking for way to turn it into a movie. The Tracking Board reports Chernin Entertainment and Fox have partnered up to bring Mega Man to a movie theater near you. Although the details are scarce at the moment, all we know is that Pernin Chernin is producing the movie alongside David Ready and Michael Finfer the duo behind the Planet of the Apes movies will oversee the movie.
Mega Man follows the story of Dr. Light’s android lab assistant, “Rock Man”, whom Dr. Light turned into a robotic superhero in order to fight even Dr. Wily after the bad doctor stole Light’s work and built an evil robot for world domination.
If this development does not work out, Mega Man fans can still look forward to seeing the 26-episode animated series which is planned for production in 2017, the same year Mega Man turns 30.
