How Rihanna Discovered an Aspiring Model on Instagram

0

Rihanna discovered an aspiring model after searching on Instagram.

In the music video ‘Bitch Better Have My Money,’ Rihanna kidnaps model Rachel Roberts with the help of two friends/henchwomen. One of them is Instagram Star Sita Abellan and she’s quite famous. While, the other henchwoman was discovered on Instagram.

In an interview with VICE, the aspiring model talked about the Instagram photo that got her the music video role and changed her life.

The story began three months ago when Rihanna noticed this photo on her Explore page:

Instagram Rihanna

Rihanna clicked ‘Follow,’ and the rest became history.

When I refreshed my notifications, she had unfollowed me, so I was sad about it. Then two weeks later, she followed me again. The next morning, I went to work, and I got a DM from her on Instagram. She was like, “Hey, I have this idea I want to run by you. I think you’re so fucking rare. Let me know if you’re interested.”

After finding out that Rihanna wanted her to star in an upcoming music video, Sanam, who works at a plant store, was put in touch with the production company.

At the end of the day, they were like, “We just got the confirmation from Rih: We want to cast you, and we want to fly you out tomorrow.” And I flew down there the next day. She followed me on Instagram on a Wednesday night, and then I was in LA on Friday morning. It was crazy.

Top it all off, Rihanna was “pretty down to earth”.

Georgia To Build America’s Largest TV and Film Studio

0

Moon River Studios is now the biggest studio project in the United States further increasing Georgia’s film industry.

Georgia is quickly taking over the film industry. With Louisiana capping the film tax credits to only $180 million and reports suggesting that Michigan will end their tax credits. More and more filmmakers are choosing to film in Georgia than anywhere else. Now, Georgia is quickly working on building the nation’s largest movie and television studio project.

According to Ellie Hensley with the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Georgia-based Moon River Studios is now the biggest studio project in the United States.

Moon River Studios, a division of Rincon, Ga.-based FONU2 Inc., is developing a 1,560-acre full service production complex in Effingham County, Ga.

The project includes sound stages, scenic landscapes, an outdoor concert venue, post production offices, editing suites, warehouses, mills and set fabrication services.

FONU2 will rent out the sound stages to other production companies and use the spaces for its own films.

Expect more and more opportunities in the future. Especially with 41 movies and TV shows now filming in Georgia.

Ex-Stripper Reveals What it Was Like Working With Channing Tatum

0

Ex-Stripper and friend to Channing Tatum (Magic Mike XXL), reveals what it was like working and stripping with Channing Tatum.

Magic Mike XXL hit theaters this Fourth of July weekend after filming for several weeks in Savannah, Georgia several months ago. The sequel didn’t really pop in the box office like Chris Pratt’s ‘Jurassic World‘ but, it did manage to bring in a 96% female audience. As the Guardian points out, Magic Mike XXL “has been ruled out as a disappointment at the domestic box-office after grossing $28.7m over its first weekend, compared to the $39.1m opening of the original.”

Now, to add insult to injury, according to the Daily Mail, a man claims he is the real Magic Mike and he taught Channing Tatum everything he knows about stripping. In fact, he claims Channing Tatum dumped him as soon as Tatum started making millions.

Michael Sorrentino used to perform under the now world-famous stage name in clubs in Tampa, Florida, when he says he took Tatum, an 18-year-old college drop-out, under his wing.

‘That thing was unreal,’ said the 44-year-old of the success of the first movie. ‘It really blew up.

‘I got a bunch of letters from people saying, “I can’t believe they are using your name”. But since I was in jail, my hands were tied.

‘When I was still out I had tried to reach out to him but never heard back. I guess he is now at a level where… who am I to him? I’m dead to him.’

Magic-Mike-Screams

Michael Sorrentino also reveals what it was like working with Channing Tatum.

‘We would travel to several different clubs around Florida. There would be 5 or 6 of us in a truck, driving together. They were interesting times,’ he said, chuckling.

‘We got up to all kinds of things. On the way some of us would be talking about what show we would do, others would sleep, others would smoke pot.

‘And after the shows some of the guys would pick up chicks… there were some wild parties. We would be drinking and closing the clubs down.’

Speaking of Channing, he added: ‘He was no different than any of us. But I’m not going to put him down – you are who you hang around with.’

That’s right Channing Tatum was just one of the guys.

For all of the photos of Channing Tatum and the full interview visit Daily Mail.

‘The Walking Dead’ Backstory Will be Revealed Next Season

0

‘The Walking Dead’ backstory will be revealed according to the TWD show runner Scott Gimple.

Scott M. Gimple, the showrunner behind the most-watched show on T.V. says the real backstory of the series will be revealed in season 6 of ‘The Walking Dead’.

Boom!

Season 5 of ‘The Walking Dead’ had a particularly crazy ending. How can anyone forget Rick going crazy killing the abusive husband and taking over the community. But, with so much mayhem and tragedy, what we can expect in season 6?

The Walking Dead Gif

Well, Walking Dead fans get ready for some amazing news. EW recently spoke with executive producer Scott M. Gimple and he dropped some Season 6 hints.

Spoiler Alert

What else can you say about season 6?
I’ll say this: I think there’s a really cool aspect to the first half of the season that serves almost as a prequel to some direct comic stuff in the second half of the season. I think there’s a way that Robert did some of the story that we’re reaching that had a real past to it, where people are referring to some things in the past in the comic. And we’re able to portray some of that backstory in some ways that you didn’t get to see in the comic.

Well there you have it. If you ever wondered what happened in season 6, then here’s your chance to find out.

For those actors out there, don’t forget to check out our guide to landing a role on The Walking Dead.

Season 6 of AMC’s The Walking Dead was confirmed on October 2014 that AMC had renewed The Walking Dead for Season 6. Recently, ‘The Walking Dead’ showrunner, Scott Gimple revealed details about season 6 of ‘The Walking Dead’. “I said the show reinvents itself every 8 eps, and we’re doing it again, friendos. Now that these characters know they have what it takes to survive, what are they going to do with that power? How will they choose to live?”

The Walking Dead has the highest number of viewers than any other series in history, including its fourth and fifth seasons during which it averaged the highest number of viewers in the key demographics. Last season premiered a few thousand short of 18 million viewers.

Former Disney World Performer Died Shooting Fireworks Off His Head

How a former Disney World performer died shooting fireworks off his head.

Devon Staples, a former Disney World performer, died on Saturday in a freak firework accident during a Fourth of July party in Calais, Maine. Devon Staples was only 22 years old.

Devon Staples played Gaston from “Beauty and the Beast” and Goofy at Disney World. Staples was killed instantly when he attempted to launch fireworks from his head.

disneyland-performer-fireworks-accident

“Apparently, he thought that was a great idea,” said Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for Maine’s Department of Public Safety. “His friends said they thought they had dissuaded him from doing it, and the next thing they knew, he ignited the fireworks and he was killed instantly.”

According to the New York Daily News, Devon’s brother Cody Staples revealed that Devon was only joking around with a motor tube. He placed the reloadable fireworks motor tube on his head and a lighter in his hand when he ignited the firework.

“There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there,” Cody Staples said. “It was a freak accident. … But Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid. He was the kind of person who would pretend to do something stupid to make people laugh.”

Dustin Hoffman: The Film Industry is the “Worst”

0

Dustin Hoffman thinks the film industry is the “worst” it has been in 50 years.

The actor recently criticized the pressure directors have to face in this new modern era of filmmaking. Nowadays, directors are forced to film major motion pictures in a shorter amount of time which, according to Hoffman, has made television better than feature films.

“I think right now, television is the best that’s it ever been, and I think it’s the worst that film has ever been – in the 50 years that I’ve been doing it, it’s the worst,” he said in an interview with U.K. newspaper The Independent.

Dustin HoffmanDustin Hoffman
Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com

“It’s hard to believe you can do good work for the little amount of money these days,” he said. “We did The Graduate and that film still sustains. It had a wonderful script that they spent three years on, and an exceptional director with an exceptional cast and crew, but it was a small movie, four walls and actors, and yet it was 100 days of shooting.”

Dustin Hoffman recently made his directorial debut in 2012 with ‘Quartet’, the British comedy-drama starring Maggie Smith and Billy Connelly, Hoffman added that he hadn’t found another project to work on yet.

“I’m looking at everything that comes to me, I’m not getting much as far as directing is concerned,” he said. “I don’t think that has anything to do with whether you are good or not, it’s just about whether your films make money or not.”

The Insane Medical Fees Keeping Bobbi Kristina Brown Alive

0

Here’s an inside look at the medical fees and charges that help keep Bobbi Kristina Brown alive.

Bobbi Kristina Brown is currently fighting for her life after being found face-down and unresponsive in her bathtub earlier this year. It’s pretty clear that anyone close to her has been emotional shaken up by the situation and it is also putting a major whole in the family’s pockets.

Bobbi Kristina Brown

According to a report by TheWrap, the charges and fees associated with someone in a coma can be extremely experience.

“It could be the case where they have to pay full charges just because they’re famous and they’re supposed to have a lot of money,” Hughes-Cromwick said. “And maybe they don’t have an insurance plan that has done this kind of negotiating with the provider.”

Based on Hughes-Cromwick’s assessment, a 60-day hospital stay would start somewhere between and $60,000 and $120,000.

The cost of Brown’s stay in the rehabilitation facility is clearer. Admittance in a rehab location, Hughes-Cromwick noted, entails “very high costs — as much as a couple thousand dollars or more per day.”

Ballparking on that estimate, Brown’s stay at the rehabilitation facility so far could conceivably have a price tag in the $165,000 range after about 11 weeks, and counting.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, was rushed to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia on Jan. 31. She was later moved to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and reportedly transferred to a medical rehab facility at the end of March.

Currently, Bobbi Kristina Brown is the sole heir to Whitney Houston’s fortune. Brown is estimated to be worth at least $20 million.

Harry Potter’s Kid Actors Were Forced to Do What!?

0

Harry Potter’s kid actors were forced to do homework and write essays while filming scenes for the Harry Potter franchise.

You might think landing a role in the Harry Potter franchise would exempt you from all of the challenges a typical teenager may have to go through including homework. Well you are wrong.

Oliver Phelps aka George Weasley said that the child actors were even forced to work on their home work while filming scenes, adding a ton of realism to every Hogwarts students’ scene:

In the exercise books in the Great Hall set, we’d actually do our own school work, just to make it look as authentic as possible.

movies-harry-potter-and-the-philosophers-stone

How cool is that? Though it was all for their own good. It’s great to know that the producers behind the Harry Potter franchise truly cared about the actor’s education and future. Besides, how many people can say they studied for their school exams in Hogwarts’ Great Hall?

But it wasn’t just homework the cast were forced to complete. In order to become more familiar with the film’s three main stars, director Alfonso Cuaron had them write an essay examining each of their characters. Ironically, each character ended up mimicking their fictional character perfectly. Emma Watson wrote a 16-page essay, Daniel Radcliffe wrote a simple, one-page paper, and Rupert Grint never handed his in.

‘Princess Diaries’ Producer Called Actress “Unf**kable” and Ruined Her Career

0

‘Princess Diaries’ star, Heather Matarazzo revealed that the producer called her ‘unfuckable’.

Heather Matarazzo became famous nearly over night in the mid-90s when she appeared as the leading actor in the 1995 feature film ‘Welcome to the Dollhouse’. At that time she was only 13-years-old, but she had been acting since she was six years old. Matarazzo basically grew up in the very difficult, and harsh film industry.

But despite the obstacles, and having over 20 acting credits to her name, she was told by a director that she had been dropped from a role that she had been attached to for over two years because producers called her “not f*ckable”.

Heather Matarazzo
Debby Wong / Shutterstock.com

Many people would crumble after hearing such devastating news but not Matarazzo. What the actress decided to do afterwards is inspiring. Matarazzo described all the humiliation and pain she experienced after feeling connected to and preparing for a role after two years just to be taken away because a producer found her “fuckable.”

Matarazzo would later take a smaller role in the movie she had originally been chosen to star in, simply because she was so connected the project and couldn’t let the producers take everything away from here.

Anne Hathaway in "The Princess Diaries"
Anne Hathaway in “The Princess Diaries”

Matarazzo says that she lost sense of herself, and started to believe the words that the producer had used to describe her. She even starting believing she was “ugly,” “loser,” and “disgusting.”

Matarazzo would then also only audition for girls that were “plain Janes” or “very large women.”

Those harsh words that had been used to justify firing her from her lead role would be something that she held on to for several years later. But, after several years, Matarazzo had a life-altering moment. She applied for “plain Janes” or “very large women” brcause that’s how people saw her, but the only reason people saw her that way was because that was how she saw herself. After having this realization she began to accept herself, her looks and her body. Years later, she began to get more and more roles for chacters she says were “beautiful, confident, secure, they were complex, they had bite, they had depth.”

She took something that was so traumatic and turned it into something positive. Recently, Matarazzo has been a major proponent for equual rights for the LGBTQ community, as well as a supporter for women’s rights in the industry.

Recently she stood up for actor Rose McGowan, who was dropped by her agents after posting a sexist casting call, standing alongside a small but, powerful group of women who also believed McGowan was wronged, women such as Lexi Alexander and Jessica Chastain.

In an industry where everything is criticized, critiqued, and construed, Matarazzo took what a producer said about a teenager and became a leader changing the industry in order to make sure no woman is made to feel like that again.

“We set up the cameras in a Starbucks and I was around the corner in Astor Place,” Gere said.

“I came around the corner and was totally in character. I had my hat down and no one was paying me any attention. I had a coffee cup and started asking for change … ‘spare any change? … can you help me out?'” the actor said.

“We shot for 45 minutes. No one paid me any attention. Some people put some money into my cup. They did not make eye contact. I think I made about two and a half dollars. I was very unsuccessful as a bum on the street.”

Richard Gere revealed it was a very powerful experience.

“It was an incredibly profound experience. In my life there are a lot of expectations. I’m a movie star coming here. The same guy on a street corner with a coffee cup, no one pays any attention to,” he continued. “If anything the guy on the street corner is probably closer to who I really am than the movie star in a tuxedo on a red carpet.”

Richard Gere began acting in the 1970s, playing a supporting role in Looking for Mr. Goodbar and a starring role in Days of Heaven. He came to prominence in 1980 for his role in the film American Gigolo, which established him as a leading man and a sex symbol. He went on to star in several hit films, including An Officer and a Gentleman, Pretty Woman, Primal Fear,Runaway Bride, Arbitrage and Chicago, for which he won a Golden Globe Award as Best Actor, as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the Best Cast.

According to WTOC, ‘Magic Mike XXL’ casting director thinks Savannah actors should take more acting classes.

What Darnell really wants to see besides a lot of people show up to a casting call is some acting talent. He says he’d like to cast Savannah actors in speaking roles, but so far he hasn’t been able to.

Besides a known actress like Andie McDowell, the other actresses in this were from Atlanta. Each had a small speaking role, which could have gone to a Savannah actress if they had been able to act. Same goes for other speaking parts in “Magic Mike.”

“I had one role to cast, random stripper, and I must have read 300 people for that role,” Darnell said. “We want to cast as many people for primary roles, or speaking roles as possible, so we need people to get into classes and start training.”

It is interesting to point out that several major casting directors argue that acting talent is only a minor factor in casting decisions. In fact, actors with a large social media following were more likely to land a role than a good actor.

But, each casting director is different. Start practcing on your monologues, if you ever plan on landing a speaking role on any of Chad Darnell’s projects because this is one filmmaker who doesn’t care how many Twitter followers you have.

Edit: Changes to the article were made to more accurately reflect Chad Darnell’s opinion on the current state of actors, and filmmakers in the film industry.
