Zootopia is the #1 Movie in America

Box Office: Zootopia is the number one movie in America.

Deadpool’s reign as the king of the box office has finally come to an end thanks to a little known cartoon movie called Zootopia.

According to box office reports, the #1 movie in America is Disney’s Zootopia, which earned $73.7 million in North American theaters. It’s the fourth highest March opening ever and a a best for a Disney Animated movie.

The studio’s previous record-holder, Frozen earned $67.4 million over three days in its Thanksgiving opening.

Apparently, critics and audiences love the movie, which features the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman. It got a coveted A CinemaScore and a damn near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. According to exit polls, a large percentage of the movie’s audiences consisted of families.

This is the latest set of movies that Disney is calling the ‘creative renaissance’ following the Disney’s Tangled, Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Wreck It Ralph.

“There is consistency at a really high level of delivering great stories, amazing worlds and characters who people can relate to,” said Dave Hollis, Disney’s Executive Vice President of Distribution.

Ultimately, Zootopia also brought in $63.4 million internationally, where it is in its fourth weekend. The movie has grossed $232.5 million globally to date.

In second place, London Has Fallen, earned $21.7 million. The main cast returned for the film, including Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman, which cost a reported $60 million to make. While it’s a decent opening, the movie is a long way from the first film’s $30 million debut. But, it’s definitely a good change of pace for Butler, whose recent movies bombed in the box office. In fact, Gods of Egypt flopped like an Orca at Sea World.

In its fourth weekend in theaters, “Deadpool” fell to third place with $16.4 million, bringing its domestic total to a staggering $311.2 million.

The Tina Fey comedy “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” meanwhile, debuted in fourth with an estimated $7.6 million. The film cost a reported $35 million to produce.

Meanwhile, Tina Fey’s latest movie was another flop. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, debuted in fourth with an estimated $7.6 million. The movie reportedly cost $35 million to produce.

Tina Fey’s journalist character is on assignment in Afghanistan, which has garnered mixed to positive reviews from critics.

Jada Pinkett Smith Responds to That Chris Rock Oscars’ Joke [VIDEO]

Jada Pinkett Smith isn’t worried about Chris Rock’s joke from the Academy Awards.

Pinkett Smith, who was one of the most vocal proponents of a boycott against the 2016 Oscars due to their lack of diversity, was mocked by Rock, who hosted the ceremony, during his opening monologue.

“Hey look it comes with the territory, we gotta keep it moving,” the 44-year-old Gotham star told photographers as she walked through Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday. “We got a lot of stuff we gotta handle, a lot of stuff going on in our world right now. We gotta keep it moving.”

During the ceremony on February 28th, Chris Rock skewered the actress, joking, “Jada said she’s not coming. I was like, ‘Isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!”

Chris Rock went on to poke fun at Pinkett’s husband, Will Smith, joking that she was made he didn’t get nominated for his role in Concussion. “It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. You’re right. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West!”

TWD Fans Bash Latest Episode: ‘Walking Dead’ Goes Too Far

0

Fans are afraid that The Walking Dead may have crossed the line last Sunday.

Steven Yeun showed the world once again why Glenn is one of our favorite characters during this week’s episode of The Walking Dead.

In an incredible gut-wrenching scene, Glenn was forced to kill two members of The Saviors in their sleep, which is basically in cold blood. The actor grapples with his emotions, and morality during these moments, as he and Heath previously discussed how neither of them has had to kill another human being.

But, in an interview with TheWrap, the show’s executive producer, Greg Nicotero, discussed the emotional scene. “My job as the director is to create an environment where these guys can go to these horrible, dark places. And that’s about as dark as you can get.”

Nicotero added: “Emotionally, I wanted Steven to feel every fiber of that moment and that anguish,” he continued. “So we created a prosthetic head that was flawless. And we attached it to a dummy body and our props guy, Adam, I laid his arm across the torso so when Steven entered he saw a real hand with a [wedding] ring on it. It took him to this other place. It was as real to him as it could possibly be.”

But, some people are not too happy with the episode. In a New York Post article, “The Walking Dead Finally Crosses the Line” written by Lindsay Putnam, argues the latest episode “may have been the most depraved hour of network television, ever”

From NY Post:

The “Walking Dead” is no stranger to violence. But, in most cases, the most brutal deaths were well-deserved. Rick and the others were simply getting revenge for crimes that had been committed against them — overtaking the Governor and Woodbury, massacring the cannibals at Terminus, slaughtering the Wolves after they attacked Alexandria. This would be the first time they attacked a group unprovoked, with no first-hand knowledge of whether or not their victims are deserving of death.

And Putnam is not alone. Fans of The Walking Dead took to Twitter to bash the latest episode.

Beginner’s Guide: 5 Fast Audition Tips You Need to Know

Want to become an actor? Well here’s everything you need to know about casting calls.

In our ongoing series, Beginner’s Guide to Acting, we will break down what are casting calls, and essentially 5 facts you should know about open casting calls in the film industry.

1.What are extras casting calls? How are they different than an actual audition?

A call for extras is going to be pretty different from an actual audition. I’ve done a few of those and yes, it will probably be a cattle call. They’ll take your headshot and resume if you have one, they might take a snapshot right there, and that will probably be it. Did they mention something about an interview? Because extras really don’t need to do that. They’ll take just about anyone within the types they need for a scene.

2. What’s a real audition like?

A real audition is much more structured. In the best scenario, they’ve already sent you the scene you’ll be doing the day before the audition so you have time to prepare it, and hopefully you’ll have an assigned time to get there. Arrive early, not too ridiculously early but at least 10 minutes beforehand. They’ll probably have a sign in sheet so do that and just wait and stay cool. Then someone will bring you into the room, you’ll introduce yourself and then do the scene with a reader or maybe another actor who’s auditioning for the other part, but usually a reader. They might give you an adjustment for another try at it, or they might just say thanks and you’re done. Neither one necessarily indicates whether you did well or not.

3. How should you prepare for an open casting call audition?

Variations on this: you don’t get the scene beforehand, but when you arrive at the audition. In which case get there earlier and spend as much time as you can getting familiar with it. Or, you’ll be doing a monologue that you’ve already learned and worked on on your own. There might not be time slots, it might just be a first-come first-served thing. They might not have anything for you to read nor ask for a monologue, and you’ll just improvise something for them when you get into the room. It varies from audition to audition, but most generally you’ll encounter the first scenario I detailed.

4. How to stand out in an open casting call?

If there is a little interview or small conversation, just be yourself. Which is hopefully a pleasant, relaxed person with whom people want to work. But really they’re usually trying to get through everyone so they don’t have time for much of that.
