According to reports, a maintenance worker was found dead inside of the Phantom Manor attraction at Disneyland Paris on Saturday. An initial investigation shows the man was electrocution and his death is currently being ruled accidental.

Apparently, the Disneyland crew member was working on a broken light fixture inside of the Phantom Manor haunted house when he was accidentally electrocuted.

The man that died was Patrick Maldidier, the Unsa union representative for Disney Paris. He was described as a “cheerful 45-year-old father from Noisy-le-grand, France.”

“He was very popular with his colleagues,” Maldidier told Le Parisien. “He was someone who always had a smile.”

Disney spokesperson told local French news outlets that company was “deeply saddened.”

“We send our thoughts to the family and relatives” of the deceased employee, it added.

It’s important to point out that this is not the first person to die inside the Disneyland Paris amusement park.

In fact, a cleaner in the park died six years ago when he fell and became trapped under a boat.

The Phantom Manor is described as a “fun-filled mystery” with “ghoulish ghosts and spirits.” The haunted house was closed for the weekend.

If you respond to the AVAILABILITY CHECK or FILL OUT SURVEY, and don’t receive a booking email, it means that you are not needed for that particular episode. We will do our best to get a booking email to you no later than 48 hours of the shoot date.
If production has last minute changes, this can sometimes lead to a cancellation. We will do our best to book you at a later date if this happens.
3. CALL INFO
The day before your booking you will receive your CALL INFO. You can expect this email to arrive some time between 8:00PM and 11:00PM. This is because we do not get the official call times until they are finished filming on that current day. When you receive your CALL INFO email you are REQUIRED to respond. This is how we know you have received the information and that you will be there.

HBO’s ‘Ballers’ Season 3 is Headed to Atlanta?

Georgia’s film industry is dominating the south.

Georgia’s film industry is booming and as the surrounding states are unable able to afford the luxurious film tax credits that keep producers happy, Hollywood executives are leaving states like Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina to film in Georgia.

According to a new report, two shows filmed in Florida are strongly considering leaving the state to film in Georgia after, Florida representatives have decided to pull the plug on film tax incentives.

HBO Ballers Season 2
HBO Ballers Season 2

The latest production to receive film tax credits from Florida was Netflix’s Bloodline and the show is rumored to never return for a third season because of the lack of filming incentives unless the show moves to Georgia.

Bloodline script supervisor Kathryn Waters wrote a Facebook post in January imploring business owners in the Keys to email a “Friends of Bloodline” Gmail address about the impact of the show, which earned two Emmy nominations for its first season, on the local community.

“Have we lost business to Georgia? Of course,” says Michelle Hillery, president of Film Florida and deputy film commissioner in Palm Beach County. “We’ve lost about $650 million of business. We’re losing a great deal of our history because our stories are being told in other states.”

But Netflix’s Bloodline is not alone. HBO’s Ballers is rumored to be leaving Miami and to film outside of Florida in order to receive film tax credits.

“We have a long history of shooting projects in Florida and were obviously disappointed in the recent vote to not renew the incentive program,” HBO said in a statement to THR. “We will be assessing its impact on any future productions like Ballers, who have established Florida as their home.”

“Have we lost business to Georgia? Of course. We’ve lost about $650 million of business. We’re losing a great deal of our history because our stories are being told in other states.”

Nowadays, filmmakers are choosing to use Florida for only a few scenes and then moving to different states like Georgia to film the rest of the movie. The Rock’s Baywatch movie and Netflix’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are the latest productions to film in Florida for only a few days and then film elsewhere.

What kind of impact is this having on the actors in the film industry? Well, it’s forcing actors to become more mobile and willing to travel all over the south for their next acting job.

“One of the guys I met was Orlando-based but mostly working out of Louisiana and Atlanta,” says series co-creator Robert Carlock. “He said it was the shortest commute he’d had in some time.”

Florida actors also have become more mobile as productions cross state lines. When Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt shot an upcoming episode at Universal Studios, several guest stars came from the local talent pool. “One of the guys I met was Orlando-based but mostly working out of Louisiana and Atlanta,” says series co-creator Robert Carlock. “He said it was the shortest commute he’d had in some time.”

Florida’s film industry maybe dying but, business in Georgia still is booming.

[UPDATE] ‘Criminal Minds’ Casting Director Fired After “Illegal” Workshops

0

CBS fires the casting director behind Criminal Minds after “illegal” casting director acting workshops report.

Update: Saturday, April 16

Following the controversy and allegedly getting fired from CBS’ Criminal Minds, casting director Scott David took the type to fire back at his critics and address the rumors.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, David wrote a letter addressing his colleagues. “My time with Criminal Minds ended for a myriad reasons.”  He argues that it is his belief that the acting workshops he teaches, The Actors Link, are not illegal and fall “within the parameters” of California’s Krekorian Talent Scam Prevention Act, passed in 2009.

He continues, “My business partner and I are very clear in our messaging that the workshops we offer at The Actors Link are not auditions nor employment opportunities but rather educational platforms where actors can come to better prepare themselves for future opportunities.”

However as THR pointed out, his acting classes have changed following the investigation from private one-on-one coaching to group acting classes. This will create MORE of a learning experience and class type setting,” the note reads. “You will experience MORE FEEDBACK, MORE NOTES and MORE ADJUSTMENTS!”

Most recently, an actor Doug Morency told reporters that he credits his first acting job to David’s paid workshops. “If I hadn’t taken these workshops, that gig never would’ve happened,” he said.

Click here to read Scott David’s open letter.

April 4, 2016: Many people have long assumed that casting director acting workshops walked the grey line between helpful and illegal and now CBS is taking steps to make sure casting directors are doing the right thing.

Related:Are Casting Director Acting Workshops Illegal?

Following a Hollywood Reporter report that more than “one-half of all actors on television paid for an interview” and the possibility that casting director acting workshops were “illegal”, CBS has just fired the casting director behind Criminal Minds. From THR:

Criminal Minds‘ longtime casting director Scott David was relieved of his duties Thursday, the day after The Hollywood Reporter published an investigation into the television industry’s proliferation of casting “workshops” that encourage actors to pay for access to potential auditions. The story quoted David and also featured his portrait.

Prominent in the TV casting community, David has been a contentious figure for years for simultaneously working on the CBS procedural while owning a business, The Actors Link, which charged those seeking roles on his show and others for audition classes taught by those concurrently in a hiring position on network, cable and streaming shows.

Apparently, the casting director director Scott David was fired on Thursday a day after The Hollywood Reporter published an investigation into “Workshops” that encourage actors to pay for access to potential speaking roles.

The Actors Link, which charged those seeking roles on his show and others for audition classes taught by those concurrently in a hiring position on network, cable and streaming shows.

According to Scott David’s IMDB page, Scott David is known for his work on Criminal Minds (2005), 2012 (2009) and Leverage (2008).

After a brief search on YouTube here’s some acting advice from Scott David himself on auditions:

Scott David started his own acting classes called The Actors Link “which charged those seeking roles on his show and others for audition classes taught by those concurrently in a hiring position on network, cable and streaming shows.”

Jennifer Lawrence Doesn’t Want to Leave the X-Men Franchise

Jennifer Lawrence reveals that she wants to continue to play Mystique in the X-Men franchise.

X-Men: Apocalypse is going to feature James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence. Even though this is the last movie that the actors are contractually attached to, Lawrence admitted to Empire that she wants to continue playing Mystique:

“I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on anyone’s shoulders.”

Jennifer Lawrence

During last year’s Comic-Con International, the actress was also asked if she would return, and this is what she had to say:

“I think so, I want to. I want them to ask me and then I’ll see how I feel in the moment when they ask. It might not make sense to a lot of people, but I feel like I’ll know when they ask. If I get a pit in my stomach and I feel like I’m going to throw up, I’ll say no. If I don’t, then I’ll ask how much they’ll pay me. I don’t have everything nailed down like Fassbender! I work more with stomach aches and numbers.”

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.

Heath Ledger’s Family Hint a Possible Biopic Coming Soon

Heath Ledger‘s family hints a possible biopic movie is coming soon.

Heath Ledger’s father Kim has spoken out about the heartbreak he and his family continue to feel about the sudden and tragic death of his son. But, the father also hinted at the possibility of turning the late actor’s life into a biopic.

The 66-year-old told The Daily Telegraph that he was still “pretty sensitive” about any topic surrounding Heath’s sudden death and that, the media’s interest in Ledger’s life was “a little difficult” for him and his relatives.

Kim went on to point out that the biopic of Heath Ledger’s life “could happen,” although he doesn’t think right now isn’t the perfect time yet. He pointed out that:

“Heath was a pretty quiet individual so [a biopic] is not something we’d really be interested in participating in. I have no doubt somebody will do something one day but when the timing for that is right, I don’t know when that will be.”

Heath Ledger’s father has been dedicated to respectfully preserving his son’s memory, so it’s quite understandable that he wants to be a considerable distance between Heath’s death and the circus surrounding the events that led to it. Of course, with an actor Heath Ledger’s fan base and acting abilities, it would be extremely difficult to cast someone that people both love and can do him justice.

Who do you think could play Heath Ledger in a biopic?

HBO Background Extra Arrested For Stealing a Purse During Filming

A background extra on The Leftovers arrested for stealing a purse while on set in Austin, Texas.

A woman cast as a background extra in the HBO TV series The Leftovers is facing jail time after police say she admitted to stealing a woman’s purse during filming.

Police say Rae Michelle Washing, 31, stole another background actor’s Louis Vuitton bag during filming on set of the hit TV series The Leftovers.

From KVAL:

On October 10 at 1:00 p.m., the victim reported the theft to Austin Police. The woman says she had left her bag in the makeup room, where extras were told to leave their things before filming. When the woman returned, her bag and all the contents inside were gone. The next day she received a notification that her credit card was fraudulently used at a Walmart store in Manor.

Detectives searched through surveillance video and saw a woman on camera carrying the stolen Louis Vuitton bag, but at that time, they were not able to identify her.

On December 10, 2015, a woman named Trimonisha Wright was arrested for an unrelated shoplifting offense. Wright was found to be in possession of the victim’s stolen driver’s license. She told police a friend–identified as Washington–who was an extra in “The Leftovers” gave her the license.

According to reports, Wright told investigators she had picked up Washington after a day of filming and noticed Washington was carrying a large Louis Vuitton bag. She said Washington searched through the bag and told her that it was given to her at the HBO casting call.

Washington then gave Wright $50, two ID cards and a box of checks.

According to the police report Wright and Washington had been using PCP when they were on their way to go on a Walmart shopping spree. Also, when police interviewed Washington, she admitted to stealing the purse. But, they were unable to recover any more property after her apartment burned down.

HBO’s The Leftovers centers around the simultaneous disappearance of 2% of the global population, a group of people from Mapleton, New York who struggle to continue their lives while they cope with loss and the tragedy of the unexplained nature of the event.
