Disney’s ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Lead Roles Open Casting Call

Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time directed by Ava DuVernay is now casting lead roles.

The director of Selma is now casting for next big production, A Wrinkle in Time. DuVernay was hired earlier this year to direct Disney’s upcoming movie version of Madeleine L’Engle’s award winning sci-fi movie A Wrinkle in Time. Now she is casting lead roles and child actors to play the starring roles in the movie. According to Nola.com, DuVernay is holding an open casting call this Wednesday, May 11th in New Orleans. Here’s the casting breakdown:

  • A 14-year-old mixed-race girl of African-American and Caucasian descent. “This girl is questioning her life, her place in the world and her family,” a casting description reads. “While troubled, she possesses untapped strength and intelligence which carries her through her search for truth.”
  • A 5-year-old mixed-race boy of African-American and Caucasian descent. “This boy is EXTREMELY intelligent and articulate. He is strong and loving and hypersensitive.”
  • A 16-year-old boy who is an ethnic minority. “He is a handsome, fit, caring young man who becomes a friend to the above two kids.”

The roles are most likely for the main character Meg Murray, her younger brother Charles and friend Calvin. In 2003 made-for-TV version, all three were portrayed by white actors. But, it looks as though Ava DuVernay is going to do “color-blind casting” for this new Disney movie.

The open casting call will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday (May 11) at the Courtyard New Orleans Downtown / Convention Center at 300 Julia St. No prior acting experience is necessary, although those interested in pursuing a role should bring a current non-returnable headshot.

André The Giant Movie is Coming Soon

Hollywood is making an André The Giant movie.

Good news for anyone that lives Andre The Giant and old school wrestling: Variety is reporting that a feature film based on the graphic novel based on the impossible life of the wrestler is now in development. The new movie will be based around André The Giant: Closer To Heaven. From Variety:

Roussimoff’s daughter Robin Christensen-Roussimoff will consult on the film and assigned the exclusive rights for the biography to the producers.

“André the Giant rode the wave of the rise of wrestling in America, while suffering from the painful health condition of gigantism – there’s an Elephant Man story here,” Steindorff said.

“As a lifelong wrestling fan, I can say with conviction that no one was bigger than Andre,” said Lion Forge CEO David Steward II. “His presence and charisma were so powerful, and you could tell there was much more to him under the surface of his ring persona. It’s been an amazing experience telling that story in the book with Robin’s help. With all the spectacle, action, and emotion there on the page, a feature film just made perfect sense.”

The movie will most likely focus on the pro wrestler’s drinking skills, worldwide fame, late career and his tragic death.

JJ: She seems like she’d be really fun.

ST: Yeah! She punched me in the vagina once. I didn’t ask her to either. It just happened. Evan [Peters] and I were having a fake fight and I said something like, “I’ll c-nt punch you” or “I’ll punch you in the crotch” and then Jen thought that I said, “Please c-nt punch me Jen.” So she punched me in the vagina and I was like, “Awesome.” It was pretty funny.

Baywatch is now casting actors, models, and talent to appear in a photo shoot with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Savannah, Georgia. Casting directors are looking for actors to play a foreign diplomat. Producers are looking for Middle Eastern men that own their own turban to work in the photo shoot.

The Jim Gaffigan Show is now casting the union role of “beautiful girlfriend” for Friday, April 29th in New York City. Casting directors are looking for Hispanic or African American women who are “okay in bed in a slip and then getting dressed in the background of the shot. Should be in great physical shape!”

Michael Strahan Just Gave His Two Weeks Notice

Michael Strahan is leaving Live! With Kelly and Michael! earlier than expected.

Strahan was supposed to leave the show over the summer. Now, the former NFL star will step down on May 13th.

He revised his departure date following the alleged Kelly Ripa boycott. According to reports, Live! producers are going to use Strahan’s early departure to find a replacement over the summer. It will also give Strahan the summer off before starting Good Morning America in September.

This news comes only hours after Kelly Ripa returned to Live! after allegedly boycotting the show after news surfaced of Strahan’s departure.

Apparently, Kelly Ripa was so unhappy, she didn’t even show up to work for several days. Leaving Strahan to walk out with several replacements. According to CNN, Kelly Ripa has reportedly received an apology from network executives following the whole incident. According to reports, the executives “expressed regret for the way Kelly was told the news.”

She announced her return in an email to staffers on Friday. “(Sorry for this late Friday night email). I wanted to thank you all for giving me the time to process this new information. Your kindness, support, and love has overwhelmed me,” she wrote. “We are a family and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning. Love, Kelly.”

When Kelly finally returned to Live! Ripa bashed ABC executives for keeping her out of the loop during the Good Morning America negotiations. “What transpired over the course of a few days has been extraordinary in the sense that it started a much greater conversation about communication and consideration and, most importantly, respect in the workplace,” she said.

The Walking Dead season 7 will start filming this Monday in Atlanta, Georgia.

Filming for The Walking Dead season 7 is going to starts in six days. According to The Spoiling Dead Fans, the official filming start date is Monday, May 2nd and pre-production starts this April 27th until May 5th.

The hour and half season six finale saw Negan’s group, the Saviors, hunt down Rick and the gang. The episode cut to black only to reveal the sounds of Negan beating one of the cast members to death. The ending of the episode leaves the characters: Rick, Michonne, Glenn, Daryl, Rosita, Carl, Maggie, Aaron, Eugene, Abraham and Sasha in jeopardy.

Zach Galifianakis gave STK steakhouse staff a 50% tip in Atlanta, Georgia.

Georgia’s film tax credits is providing jobs and opportunities for those interested in the film industry. But, not only are aspiring actors benefiting from Georgia’s film industry, so are waiters and waitresses in the ATL.

According to Page Six, Zach Galifianakis gave a 50% tip to the staff at STK, a popular steakhouse in Atlanta, Georgia.

“The Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis left his credit card behind when he dined at STK in Atlanta Sunday.

We’re told he was ringing in Greek Orthodox Palm Sunday with his parents and son, but forgot his plastic.

“The staff had to track him down,” said a spy. But, “He was really friendly. He left a 50 percent tip.”

Zach Galifianakis is in Atlanta filming his new movie Keeping Up With the Joneses. Jon Hamm and Zach Galifianakis star in the comedy that follows a suburban, type-A couple who finds out that their neighbors are undercover agents.

Sh*t model management reveals the hilarious and dark side to modeling jobs on Instagram.

Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to be a model? Of course you have. Well your prayers have been answered in this hilarious new Instagram page called **** Model Management.

Two real-life models post memes that finally show the world what it’s like to be a model outside of all the glitz and glamour.

The Instagram account was launched just two weeks ago and already has 20,000 followers. Run by two unknown models who won’t reveal their identities, the page posts funny memes about what it’s like to be a working model.

The models behind it, who live in New York City, make jokes about the unglamorous living conditions and tiny paychecks. They express their frustrations with impossible standards, high expectations, and wanting to work alongside Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. For example, the unknown models offer insight on everything from “model apartments” – where crowds of aspiring models sleep in a small shared space, often in bunk bends – the unrealistic expectations of photographers, talent agencies and designers.

The models, who go by H and S, who started the Instagram page spoke to Fashionista.com about how they got started. They met while living in a model apartment alongside six other girls in NYC, where they bonded and became best friends.

‘This job has a way of making you feel lonely even if you’re surrounded by people, so you need a person to be there for you through it all,’ said H. ‘Being able to laugh about the ridiculous things that we go through each day makes it all easier.’

And while many people may think that the Instagram posts are all fun and games, the girls say that maintaining the account allows them to vent about what’s upsetting them without damaging their modeling career.

“In our industry, there is a crazy amount of frustration that you cannot express unless you want to ruin your career,’ S explained. ‘Until you are “a someone,” your opinion or preference doesn’t really matter.”

‘The idea that a model somewhere can see that she’s not alone in what she is feeling could be lifesaving. We don’t want anyone to feel alone, or like they are less of a person because of the things we go through as models. People outside of the industry typically don’t get it.’

The models even point out that Instagram has become extremely important for models in the fashion industry. “Ironically, Instagram in itself is a huge area of stress for models. We are expected to have a certain number of followers and a certain number of likes,” explained S.
