About Widows:

Viola Davis will star in Steve McQueen’s upcoming heist thriller “Widows” for New Regency. “Gone Girl” screenwriter and novelist Gillian Flynn is on board to pen the script with McQueen. Based on the 1983 British miniseries about a caper gone wrong, the story follows four armed robbers who get killed in a failed heist attempt, leaving their widows to finish the job.

Nickelodeon’s Lip Sync Battle Shorties open casting call for talented dancers.

Lip Sync Battle Shorties, Nickelodeon’s spin-off of the hit show Lip Sync Battle, is now casting great dancers with fun and engaging personalities (ages 9 to 12) to be members of the backup dance troupe. Producers are seeking dancers who can dance hip-hop, ballet, salsa, tap, jazz, etc.

The New York casting call will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, June 27th at Manhattan Ballroom Dance, 29 West 36th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY, 10018. The line starts to form at 10 am. All kids must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.

Dwayne Johnson’s new movie Rampage is looking for men and women to play injured business types during an evacuation scene. Producers are looking for new talent between the ages of 25 to 50 years old to work on the scene. Filming will shoot on Friday, June 30th, Monday, July 3rd and Wednesday, July 5th.

About Rampage:

Deadline reports that Rampage will be directed by Brad Peyton and star Dwayne Johnson.  Details surrounding the plot of Rampage have not been released. But, the movie is based on the hit 1980s video game Rampage. Rampage is a 1986 arcade game where players control one of three giant monsters trying to rack up points by destroying cities while avoiding being shot at by tanks and helicopters.

ScreenCraft is giving one filmmaker a production grant of up to $20,000 in production funds.

Brought to you by ScreenCraft and Bondit, if you have a short film or a script at the early stages of production, you can win a grant of up to $5,000 to $20,000 in financing and production services.

 In partnership with BondIt, a film & media fund based in Beverly Hills, ScreenCraft is offering two production grants per year to talented filmmakers for short film and online series that display originality, vision & exceptional potential. Grant amounts will vary from $10,000 to $20,000 depending on the scale and merit of the project. This program includes creative development from the ScreenCraft team and production guidance and resources from BondIt and Buffalo 8 Productions.

ScreenCraft is a Los-Angeles based media company dedicated to helping screenwriters and filmmakers succeed through competitions, events and educational content.

BondIt is a film and media fund with recent film credits including “Sharknado“, “Wild Horses” (starring James Franco and Robert Duvall) “31” (directed by Rob Zombie), “By Way of Helena” (starring Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth and William Hurt) & “The Invitation” (SXSW winner).

Panavision Will Give You FREE Film Equipment to Help You Film Your Next Movie

Panavision is an American motion picture equipment company specializing in cameras and lenses, based in Woodland Hills, California. Formed by Robert Gottschalk as a small partnership to create anamorphic projection lenses during the widescreen boom in the 1950s, Panavision expanded its product lines to meet the demands of modern filmmakers. The company introduced its first products in 1954. Originally a provider of CinemaScope accessories, the company’s line of anamorphic widescreen lenses soon became the industry leader. In 1972, Panavision helped revolutionize filmmaking with the lightweight Panaflex 35 mm movie camera. The company has introduced other groundbreaking cameras such as the Millennium XL (1999) and the digital video Genesis (2004).

Now in an effort to help and support aspiring filmmakers, Panavision has announced a new filmmaker program.

Panavision believes in helping students and beginning filmmakers achieve their dreams. More than 25 years ago, Panavision launched the New Filmmaker Program, an ongoing grant program that loans camera packages to film schools, training programs, and independent filmmakers – at little or no charge. Panavision’s commitment to the industry’s future provides student and beginning filmmakers the opportunity to work with professional grade equipment early in their careers.

The new Filmmaker Program will loan film or digital camera packages to filmmakers for their student thesis films, “low-budget” independent features, showcase reels, Public Service Announcements, or any other type of short not-for-profit project.

The New Filmmaker Program has served hundreds of aspiring filmmakers, many of them eventually becoming regular Panavision customers.

Women and Hollywood’s First-Time Female Filmmaker Contest is now accepting submissions

Following Women and Hollywood’s 10th anniversary, the site is launching a short film contest for first-time female filmmakers. The goal of the contest is to help provide opportunities and exposure to female filmmakers and give them a chance to have their work featured on a large digital platform and at a national event.

Here’s what you need to know:

– Filmmaker must be at least 18. 
– Filmmaker must self identify as a woman. 
– All entries must be a digital. 
– Only one entry per filmmaker. 
– The length should not exceed 15 minutes 
– Films can be narratives or documentaries. 
– Filmmaker cannot have been employed or made money as a director. 
– Films can have been shown publicly at a festival where the filmmaker was not paid. 
– Films will be judged for quality and potential in combination with a compelling narrative. 
– Content should emulate the Women and Hollywood mission. 
– Women on the crew is a plus. 
– The project can also be a series.

There will be two winners as well as several runners up. 
Winners will each receive $300. 
Runners up will all receive $100.

All of the winners and runners-up will have their shorts shown at the Women and Hollywood 10th anniversary events in New York, Los Angeles and London.

This news comes after Wonder Woman is one of the biggest super hero movies in recent history making over $500,000,000 at the box office.

ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition 2017 is now underway – Are YOU going to audition?

ABC’s yearly search for new acting talent is currently underway. The 2017 ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition is now accepting submissions starting Monday, June 26th through Sunday, July 9th.

ABC is looking for actors ages 18 and older to submit a video performing one of the comedy or drama scenes posted on ABCdiscovers.com. Actors will be judged on the quality of their performance, potential star power, and technical acting skill set. The first-prize winner will win a $25,000 talent deal with ABC.

In comparison to previous U.S. competitions, ABC is also launching a competition for actors in the UK called ABCDiscoversUK.com. The UK winner will receive a separate $25,000 talent deal with ABC.

This year’s competition includes insight from Ayo Davis, senior vice president of ABC Entertainment’s Talent and Casting division. Also, casting director Linda Larry discusses how she found the cast of Grey’s Anatomy.

Last year’s 2016 winners, Beth Triffon and comedian Akaash Singh have had a prosperous career after winning the ABC Discovers: Digital Talent Competition. In fact, Beth Triffon now stars on Difficult People and Akaash Singh has appeared on HBO’s The Leftovers.

The Digital Talent Competition is part of ABC’s commitment to giving aspiring actors opportunities. ABC Discovers is a series of initiatives that include the New York and Los Angeles Talent Showcases, Actor Audition Workshop Week, Latino/Hispanic Outreach, Asian/Pacific Islander Outreach and Global Talent Outreach.

Most notably, the 2014 contest winner, Cornelius Smith, Jr., is a series regular on the hit drama Scandal, and 2015 contest winner Sam Adegoke has had recurring roles on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Switched at Birth and he stars in the upcoming CW Dynasty reboot.

“This competition is about access and opportunity for up and coming actors,” said Davis. “We are incredibly proud of the talent that has surfaced in the first few years of the competition and can’t wait to see who comes forward this year in both the U.S. and now also the U.K.”
