The Dad Of This “Walking Dead” Actor is Bashing the Show for “Firing” Him

If you haven’t watched Sunday’s episode, How It’s Gotta Be, you may want to do so before reading the story below, because SPOILERS.

Last night’s Walking Dead revealed that Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) was bitten by a zombie. He’s still around around has some time left on the show but, sadly, he will not be around for much longer.

As always, it was an emotional farewell to another Walking Dead character. And this one is giving fans a lot of feelings, especially considering Carl is one of only five remaining original characters.

That said, Riggs’ father took to social media to explain that show runner Scott M. Gimple fired Riggs.

“Watching Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing,” Riggs’ father wrote on Facebook. “I never trusted Gimple or AMC but Chandler did. I know how much it hurt him. But we do absolutely know how lucky we have been to be a part of it all and appreciate all the love from fans all these years!”

Riggs previously confirmed that it was not his choice to leave the show:  “I’m taking a gap year right now to focus on acting for a while. Leaving Walking Dead wasn’t my decision,” Riggs told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was all story related. It made sense story-wise for it to happen for Rick and Michonne and all the other characters.”

There will be some time before it is time to say goodbye. “It’s very important to Carl’s story and the entire story, what happens in the next episode,” Gimple explained on Talking Dead. “I’m just focused on the fact that Carl right now is alive and he has some business to attend to. That is a one-way ticket. But I’d like to think that the things we see in the next episode are so important to his life and the other characters’ lives.”

‘Stranger Things’ Gets A Bad Lip Reading Treatment

Creative voiceovers and Bad Lip Reading made an episode of Stranger Things even better.

The YouTube channel known for their funny dialogue that matches the lip movement of the characters set their eyes on Stranger Things and, as a result, turned the Netflix sci-fi series into a ‘80s family dreamed more likely to be seen on Freeform.

The 18-minute video starts with preppy theme music and a kindly narration setting the scene. The characters are changed, thanks to their new wacky dialogue, with Mike’s new catchphrase “super freak”. Karen starts bragging bout her “new tattoo”, and an emotional Joyce talks about dreaming about Billy Ocean.

Here’s What That ‘Walking Dead’ Actor Thought of Getting Killed Off

With their latest mid-season finale, The Walking Dead proved they are able to kill off nearly anyone on the show, no matter how popular they may be. This time around it was Carl Grimes who took a walker bite to the chest, leading him to a slow death via infection. It was a pretty bold move for the show and major departure from the comics, where Carl continues to sneak out of the house and cause endless amounts of trouble to this day.

Chandler Riggs talked about his character Carl’s impending death with The Hollywood Reporter and clarified a couple of points regarding how it all came to be. First off, it was not his idea and it was not the result of his decision to go to college. It was showrunner Scott Gimple that made that decision, and Riggs learned about it in June as they worked through rehearsals for season eight’s episodes.

“It was devastating for me and my family because the show has been such a huge part of my life for so long,” he said. “For a few days, we didn’t know what to do … I decided that I wanted to not go to college for at least a year and move to L.A. and focus on acting and music. It ended up being a great thing because now I get to do all kinds of other stuff that I haven’t been able to do in the last eight years.”

Riggs explained The Walking Dead producer’s reasoning for Carl’s death, but spoiler warning, Chandler reveals serious spoilers for the comics.

In the comics, Rick eventually captures Megan but decides to keep him alive in a cell rather than execute him. According to Chandler, the show needed something really powerful to drive Rick’s decision to keep Megan alive.

“Scott was trying to figure out how to bridge the gap between Rick not wanting to kill Negan and Rick also really wanting to kill Negan,” Riggs said. “Scott’s way to get around that was to make Carl this really humanitarian figure and a person who could see the good in people and see that people can change and not everyone out there is bad.”

“That’s what Carl’s talk to Rick was in this episode: there’s no way that they can kill every one of the Saviors and not everyone is a bad person and there has to be some way forward than just killing people.”

It sounds like Carl’s death will inspire Rick to become a more moral person in the future.

“I was excited to do a lot of those storylines in the comics because there’s a lot of really cool stuff,” he said. But Riggs sounds pretty optimistic about having a life outside of The Walking Dead. “I’m more excited to do other things than The Walking Dead than I was excited about doing those things on Walking Dead.”

Actors Rally in Support of Bullied Boy Keaton Jones

A woman’s heartbreaking video of her crying son recounting being bullied at middle school has gone viral and prompted a wave of support from athletes and celebrities. Kimberly Jones said in a Facebook post on Friday she had just picked up her son, Keaton, from school because he was too afraid to go to lunch.

In the video, Keaton said other students called him ugly, made fun of his appearance and told him that he has no friends. He said milk was poured on him and ham was put down his clothes.

“Just out of curiosity, why do they bully?” Keaton said. “What’s the point of it? Why do they find joy in taking innocent people and find a way to be mean to them? It’s not OK.

“People that are different don’t need to be criticized for it. It’s not their fault. If you are made fun of, just don’t let it bother you.”

The video had more than 18m views as of Sunday, and a crowdsourcing page for Keaton’s future education had raised more than $29,000.

“We all know how it feels to want to belong,” Jones said in her post, “but only a select few know how it really feels not to belong anywhere.”

Actors Chris Evans and Mark Hamill were among the celebrities who sent Keaton messages of support.

Also on Twitter, Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker invited the Jones family to an upcoming game, while University of Tennessee wide receiver Tyler Byrd said he and several teammates plan to visit Keaton at school.

Country music star Kelsea Ballerini tweeted that the next time she comes home to her home in Knoxville.

Retired race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on Twitter he wants Keaton to “add me to your long list of friends,” and Snoop Dogg said on Instagram that Keaton “has a friend for life” and that “love is the only way to beat hate.”

Oprah Winfrey’s New TV Series to Film in Georgia

Oprah Winfrey’s new TV series Love Is is now in production in Atlanta, Georgia. According to reports, Love Is will film in Georgia starting this December 2017.

Deadline reports the show will star Michele Weaver and Will Catlett in a series from The Game creator Mara Brock Akil and her husband, writer-director Salim Akil. The hourlong dramedy is set to debut in 2018.

The series centers around the love story between a modern-day power couple. In the world of Black Hollywood, they navigate a complex set of social codes, and this series will explore it all, from the good to the bad and to the ‘90s when the love story began.

Weaver will play Nuri, a bubbly personality with big dreams who is struggling to make a name for herself as a sitcom staff writer while struggling an assortment of romances that only leave her party fulfilled. After she meets Yasir, himself unemployed and barely holding onto his dreams, Nuri changes all her opinions about what she expects from a man because she’s just found the one who is perfect for her.

Yasir is an aspiring writer-director who is down to his last two unemployment checks and lives (unhappily) with his on-again/off-again ex. But after meeting the stunning Nuri, Yasir finds a reason to alter his life and the drive to access his potential.
