About Super Fly:

Sony is setting up a remake of the 1972 crime drama Super Fly, according to Variety. The studio has closed a development deal for the rights of the movie, with Watchmen writer Alex Tse writing the movie script. Super Fly was directed by Gordon Parks Jr. His father, Gordon Parks, directed the classic Shaft movie which is currently filming in Atlanta with Samuell L. Jackson, Richard Roundtree, Alexandra Shipp and Jesse T. Usher.)

Super Fly starred Ron O’Neal as Priest Youngblood, a cocaine dealer who was trying to do one last deal before he left the drug business forever. The film also starred Sheila Frazier as Georgia, Julius Harris as Scatter and Charles McGregor as Fat Freddie. Curtis Mayfield and members of The Curtis Mayfield Experience appeared as themselves. Mayfield was responsible for the music in the film and the soundtrack outsold the box office take. Super Fly featured a customized 1971 Cadillac Eldorado and is credited with starting the car customization trend in the 1970s. There was a sequel called Super Fly T.N.T. in 1973 with O’Neal reprising his role. The original film’s producer Sig Shore directed a second sequel in 1990 called The Return of Superfly.

Margot Robbie Reveals Her Biggest Acting Secrets

Margot Robbie has received amazing reviews for playing figure skater Tonya Harding in the Georgia-filmed I, Tonya.

So what is behind Robbie’s success? While participating in this year’s Hollywood Reporter actor’s roundtable, Robbie talks about what makes her nervous about acting, what she enjoys most about preparing for a movie role, and what she does to prepare for a movie role.

Robbie says that the type of a acting that she finds the most difficult is when she is doing a scene by herself. She explains, “I get nervous anytime I have to act on my own. I need to be with other actors, then my focus is on what they’re doing and all I need to do is react to it. I’m too in my head if I’m on my own.”

That said one of the aspects of acting that Robbie enjoys the most is learning new skills and preparing her character. She says,”I get excited when there’s a skill set you get to learn, and we’re so lucky and spoiled that they get someone really good to teach you. Like when I did [2015’s] Focus, I had a real-life pickpocket teach me how to pickpocket. I was like, ‘This is exciting’… Beyond that, I am kind of a crazy person when I prep. I do timelines and backstories, I work with a dialect coach, a movement coach, and an acting coach. I do a lot before so I can throw it out the window when I get on set. But if I hadn’t done the work before, I’d be too scared.”

In the case of playing Tonya Harding, Robbie did not include meeting Harding in preparing for the movie. She reveals, “I purposely didn’t because there was so much online. I could study her at 15, she’s interviewed all throughout her 20s, pre- and post-incident [when Nancy Kerrigan was attacked]. And documentaries made about her in her 40s as well. I was playing her 15 to 44, and I had all that information at my fingertips. So I prepped without having met her so that I could keep her and the character separate in my mind. And once I decided exactly how I was going to play the character, a week before shooting, I went to meet her. I didn’t want to meet her and be second-guessing what I had decided. She was, all things considered, really understanding.”

Chicago Fire Casting Call

Casting Alert! Searching for African American, Asian, and Latino, to work our night shoot as fleeing residents on “Chicago Fire”, Thursday, Feb. 22nd. This is a night shoot and will start sometime in the later morning, early afternoon or mid afternoon and shoot until sunup the following day. An accident has happened and you will be running from the apartment, or walking fast, etc. This should be a fun scene.

About The Purge: TV Series:

“The TV show takes place between the first Purge and the last movie,” writer/director James DeMonaco told Vulture. “We’re kind of right in the middle of all the Purge timelines, so it’s before Charlie Roan. It’s way after the New Founding Fathers of America have come into power.”

“So if 20 Purges have taken place, or 15, we’re probably on the seventh or eighth in the TV show.” DeMonaco also revealed the show will have a “flashback structure” allowing fans to see characters outside of Purge night (something that hasn’t been done in the franchise before). He added that the series will premiere in 2018 and that we can expect 10 episodes.

Meet The First Black Woman to Own a Georgia Movie Studio

An African-American woman is going viral after creating her movie studio.

As CBS46 reports, Tammy Williams took a major risk and invested in a movie studio.

“Let’s just use the garage, so we pulled the cars out, hung lights from the ceiling, repainted, used a green screen and shot our first show,” Williams explained to CBS46. “We learned the value of using what is in your hand, your resources, what’s around you. Sometimes we have the answers right in front of us, but we overlook them.”

After two years, Williams and her husband purchased a warehouse and created Open Rivers Pictures, where they shoot film, TV and digital productions. “Moving out of our garage into our own studio was surreal,” she said. “When we started shooting, it was exciting, it was a lot of hard work to convert a warehouse.”

As a result, Williams became the first black woman to own her own studio and post-production facility in Georgia. “It’s one of those things I didn’t necessarily think about,” she said. “You’re just trying to fulfill a vision, you’re trying to do everything that’s on your heart to do, so if along the way you’re the first, you’re like, great, I hope I’m helping open doors for other people who want to open a studio.”

So what’s next for the entrepreneur? Giving more people jobs.

“I always said I want to give people jobs, I want to help people find jobs and that’s always been in the back of my head,” she said. “To see people are getting jobs because of a little something I’ve done…the greater need of our country and telling stories that will have an positive impact pushes me, seeing others fulfilling their dream, that pushes me, being able to share and realize there is enough for everybody.”

Georgia’s film industry is booming. Recently, the never before seen in Hollywood.
