The Sopranos is getting a prequel. Ending in 2007, “The Sopranos” made HBO a household name. The show won 21 Primetime Emmys and five Golden Globes. David Chase, “The Sopranos” creator, showrunner, writer and producer is leading the movie. He wrote the script with Lawrence Konner, a Sopranos staff writer.
The Many Saints of Newark is set amid the 1967 Newark riots, which Livia was seen watching live on television during a flashback in the episode “Down Neck”.
There were over a hundred race riots across America in what was dubbed “The Long Hot Summer of 1967”, as tensions boiled over as African Americans continued to face discrimination. In Newark, the start for the riot was one that still shocks the city today is the beating of a black man by police.
“That was a time when the African-Americans and the Italians of Newark were at each other’s throats,” Deadline notes, “and among the gangsters of each group, those conflicts became especially lethal.”

IMDB reports Douglas Aibel is the casting director for the upcoming feature film. Douglas Aibel is known for casting award-winning movies including “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “Manchester By The Sea” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “Signs”.
In a 2009 interview with “The New York Times”, Aibel worked multiple jobs in the entertainment industry ranging from theater to the movies. As The New York Times points out he got his first job as a casting director in his late 20s on the film “Five Corners.” The playwright John Patrick Shanley, who had written the screenplay, arranged an interview for Mr. Aibel with the director, Tony Bill. Mr. Aibel went on to cast several films directed by Tim Robbins, including “Dead Man Walking,” and by other directors, including Mr. Anderson, M. Night Shyamalan, and Noah Baumbach.
Aibel is also a “hands-on” casting director. New York Times explains, “He reads with every actor, even if the role is for a nonprofessional or a child, both of which can require time-consuming searches.” Moreover, Aibel is known for his out-of-the-box casting ideas. “The unconventional choice, the out-of-fashion choice — that’s what you die for. The best thing a director can feel is surprise,” Aibel explains.

Actor Chris Hemsworth had a revealing interview with Men’s Health about his acting career.
Hemsworth explains that before being cast as Thor he had a difficult time finding his place in Hollywood before landing the leading role of “Thor”. In addition, he suffered from anxiety early in his career.
In his first ten years in Hollywood, Hemsworth says, “I’ve stopped asking, ‘Who do I have to be? What personality do I have to shape in order to succeed in this business?’ And just going, ‘Truly be yourself’. That’s when things started to change. That’s when I felt happier.”
Hemsworth admits he was fully committed to becoming an actor when he moved to Hollywood, but he was not confident. He explains, “There was nothing else I wanted to do. I had not a shadow of a doubt that I was going to go to Hollywood and work. As I started auditioning a whole lot of doubt chirped up and fear and anxiety and ‘What the hell am I attempting to get into?’”
Hemsworth reveals he did not have very much success after playing Captain Kirk’s father in 2009’s Star Trek, and considered quitting. He says, “I was about to quit. I got more and more anxious to the point where I couldn’t harness or use that energy. It was all to my detriment.” His anxiety also affected his performances in his auditions. “I was trying to convince myself that I wasn’t nervous before auditions rather than grabbing hold of it and going, ‘Use it, raise up the awareness here, sharpen your focus, point it in the right direction.”

Hemsworth says that actors can easily get into a negative place when it comes to constant rejections and auditions. He explains, “You’re constantly living in this world where you come out of an audition and you’re not analyzing how you can do it better, you’re analyzing what the obstacles were and how unfair it is, which is just bullshit, it’s a real trap.”
While Hemsworth’s audition days are behind, the motivation to improve has never changed. He says, “Over the years, as I’ve got more comfortable with things I’m always thinking, ‘Oh, don’t get too comfortable’. You’ve got to stay hungry. You’ve got to keep motivating yourself.”
In a new interview with Liam Neeson, the “Taken” star says he once sought the revenge for a loved one’s rap by searching for a black person to kill.
In an interview with Britain’s “The Independent,” the Oscar-nominated actor revealed when he returned from a trip and learned a loved one had been raped, he went searching for revenge.
“There’s something primal – God forbid you’ve ever had a member of your family hurt under criminal conditions,” he said in a shocking new interview.
“She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way,” Neeson told the outlet. “But my immediate reaction was… I asked, did she know who it was? No. ‘What color were they?’ She said it was a black person.
“I went up and down areas with a (nightstick), hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some ‘black bastard’ would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could – kill him.”

Neeson looks back at the incident with regret.
“It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that,” he says. “And I’ve never admitted that, and I’m saying it to a journalist. God forbid.”
He says the experience taught him a lesson: when overcome with such emotion, he needed to stop and ask himself, “what the (expletive) are you doing?”
He continues, “I grew up in Northern Ireland in the Troubles,” referring to the decades-long strife between Catholics, who wanted to split from the U.K. and form a united Ireland, and Protestant loyalists who wished to remain. “I had acquaintances who were very caught up in the Troubles, and I understand that need for revenge, but it just leads to more revenge, to more killing and more killing, and Northern Ireland’s proof of that. All this stuff that’s happening in the world, the violence, is proof of that, you know. That primal need, I understand.”
Fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment with the actor. “This is what white, toxic masculinity looks like,” wrote @Gaohmee. “I am extremely wary of men who are more outraged about the pain of a rape survivor than the victim themselves, especially when reverting to violence. I’m glad Neeson sees his mistake at least.”

According to Deadline, HBO has given a series order to a new supernatural drama series called The Outsider. The movie will star Ben Mendelsohn. The show comes from The Night Of co-creator/executive producer Richard Price, director-producer Jack Bender (Mr. Mercedes) Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films, Temple Hill Entertainment, and MRC. Ozark star/director/executive producer Jason Bateman is set to direct the first two episodes and may star alongside Mendelsohn in the show.

Shia LaBeouf’s latest project, ‘Honey Boy’, is currently in theaters. On Wednesday, Shia LaBeouf appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live! And he talked about making the intense movie based on his life.
Directed by Alma Har’el and written by Shia LaBeouf, the movie centers around the actor’s childhood and early adulthood, breaking down his family relationships and the impact his family had on his mental health. LaBeouf plays a version of his father, a man who suffers from drug addiction throughout his entire life.
Kimmel calls ‘Honey Boy’ a “fantastic movie.” He asked LaBeouf, “You like it I assume?”. LaBeouf responded, “It turned out better than I hoped it would.” LaBeouf added he wrote the screenplay while in court-ordered rehab and referred to parts of the script as “dark chapters” he worked on while dealing with symptoms of PTSD.
LaBeouf says he still keeps in touch with the cop who arrested him. “He invited me to go fishing,” said the actor.
LaBeouf also touched on the fact he planned on joining the Peace Corps. LaBeouf said that he planned on doing it when he thought his acting career was over. But, after going into rehab and working through his issues, he changed his mind. “We had a little conversation about it,” LaBeouf said, “and they were very peaceful.”
Kimmel said he found parts of the movie “moving and troubling,” noting very few people know LaBeouf’s childhood. He asked the actor what his father thought of seeing LaBeouf playing him, and the actor said he originally told his dad Mel Gibson was playing the role. “I finally broke the news to him…” said the actor.
“How did he take it when he saw the movie?” asked Kimmel.
LeBeouf admitted he watched the movie with his father via webcam and was able to witness his father getting emotional. Kimmel agreed and said the movie made him reexamine his life as a father.
When asked about reading reviews, LaBeouf mentioned how unusual it would be to read reviews. The actor explains, “it’s not a review of a movie, it’s a review of my father.”

The actor wrote the script for his semi-autobiographical movie “Honey Boy” while he was being treated for substance abuse following a 2017 arrest.
“He wrote this script in rehab and actually sent me an email from there with the script,” said director Alma Har’el. “So it was pretty mind-blowing. I couldn’t say no to that.”
LaBeouf directed the film at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. He did not speak with reporters bust posted alongside the cast and his mother Shayna Said.
LaBeouf plays an alcoholic and abusive father of a child actor, who is played at different ages by actor Noah Jupe of “A Quiet Place” and Lucas Hedges from “Boy Erased.”
“I think it was emotionally difficult for anybody to do what he did and I think nobody has ever done it before,” Har’el said. “He stepped into his own trauma and played his father in it – the most complicated relationship he’s ever had, that defined his life more than anything else.”

LaBeouf said he admired an early documentary by Alma Har’el and they developed a business relationship of the years.
“We did a music video. He was kind enough to finance my second film when nobody but nobody else would,” she said.
In 2017, LaBeouf pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction following an attempt to elude police following a public outburst in Georgia.
He was ordered to pay $2,680 in fines, perform 100 hours of community service, enroll in anger management counseling and complete ad rug and alcohol evaluation. That is when he began working on “Honey Boy”.
Har’el said the film focuses on LaBeouf’s private life.

“It’s a story about the things you inherit. Shia definitely inherited a lot of his passion towards acting from his father. But he also inherited other things that he has to deal with for the rest of his life. And he’s trying to do it as best as he can. He had to do it in the public eye, unlike many of us. So it’s been very challenging. And I think this film really kind of deals with that,” she said.
Amazon purchases the distribution rights to the movie for $5 million.
