‘The Originals’ Season 3 Casting Call for New Werewolves in Atlanta

CW Network’s hit TV series The Originals is looking for actors to play werewolves in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tammy Smith Casting, the extras casting director behind The Originals season 3, is looking for extras to play Werewolves in an episode filming on Friday, October 30th in Atlanta, Georgia. Casting directors are looking for men and women ages 18 to 55 that are a mix of tough an intense types. In addition, producers are looking for attractive and physically fit types to play werewolves.

The Originals is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries and set in New Orleans, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world’s original vampires: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Now Klaus must take down his protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to re-take his city, as he originally built New Orleans.

Here’s The Real Reason Why Popcorn Time is Dead

Popcorn Time, the most popular version of torrent streaming, has been shut down for good.

The application, which became popular for the ease to stream torrents of TV shows and movies, no longer works and the domain that hosted the streaming service is now offline.

Shut down of Popcorn Time all started last week as developers behind the streaming service pulled the plug on the project. Several of the developers decided to quit early last week after a decision to introduce a paid anonymous VPN service.

The developers feared that by adding a paid element to the free streaming service it would open them to lawsuits.

In the past, Popcorn Time lawyers have filtered through copyright infringement cases and laws, they argue that it is essentially a legal program since, users of the program are not actually downloading movies but instead are, streaming them to their computer. Although it provided access to pirated content, Popcorn Time claimed that it did not violate any laws.

In addition, sources close to The Daily Dot also that “some devs grew unsure about their liabilities towards the content the app presented.”

Now, several of the developers are working on another project called the Butter Project:

This new project, hosted on GitHub, is basically your beloved Popcorn Time stripped down of the parts that made people wary. Butter is created so that anyone can contribute to great desktop and mobile apps that allows to stream movies and shows from Bittorrent (and other sources, but more on that later) in a stylish and easy way.

We hope to clear doubts in developers so that we can continue doing what we love: hacking a great experience for our users.

While it looks as though it may be a few months before Butter Project becomes available to the public, Popcorn Time is officially done. Members of the development team behind Popcorn Time told the streaming news outlet Torrent Freak that they lost control of the domain. “I shutdown all the servers, there is nothing I can do anymore. I deleted any logs that can be harmful for any other dev,” he told .

While there are other versions of Popcorn Time, many people argue that these variants are littered with bugs, viruses, and adware.

This is good news for Hollywood studios and executives. Recently, producers started lawsuits against users of Popcorn Time. In fact, the producers of Survivor have sued 16 people who used the torrent software Popcorn Time for pirating the title. Independent Hollywood companies are aggressively trying to stop online copyright infringement.

From Variety:

Nu Image and Millennium Films, the company behind “Survivor,” identified the users by their IP addresses and are seeking their true identities via subpoenas to Internet service providers. Nu Image and Millennium say that the movie has been downloaded illegally “hundreds of thousands of times and counting,” including more than 10,000 times in Oregon, where the lawsuit was filed.

They said that they are seeking to resolve cases for $750 each in damages, even though infringement carries a maximum of $150,000 in each instance.

In their lawsuit the producers identify Popcorn Time as “software that is specifically designed for committing theft,” and say that users accept a terms of service agreement that includes a provision warning that “by watching a movie with this application you might be committing copyright violations.”

“Popcorn Time makes it clear through its terms of service that its users are willfully committing copyright infringement and gives them a clear option to opt out before engaging in criminal activity,” said Avi Lerner, chairman and founder of Nu Image. “It’s time that we hold people responsible for their action.”

FX Cancels ‘Married’ After Two Seasons

FX has pulled the plug on their comedy series Married. 

After two seasons, FX has just cancelled Married. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network comedy series will air their final episodes on FX after which the show will end production and cease all filming, writing and development.

The creator, Andrew Gurland confirmed the news Monday on Twitter saying:

Married featured Judy Greer and Jenny Slate. The series went under creative reconstruction after which the first season suffered bad ratings. FX president John Landgraf previously commented that his formula for renewing a series is different than most other networks because he focuses on creativity, ratings, and critical feedback.

But, the decision to cancel Married comes FX prepares to add several new TV series including Donald Glover’s new half-hour comedy series Atlanta and Zach Galifianakis’ Baskets.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Ratings Skyrocket in Week 3

The Walking Dead ratings finally increase in week three.

Season 6 ratings of The Walking Dead were starting to become a major problem for the AMC networks. With fewer and fewer people interested in watching it on Sundays and would rather watch it on DVR, AMC’s stock price plummetted.

However, with the release of The Walking Dead season 6, episode 3 things are starting to look up for the hit zombie drama.

According to Deadline, ratings for The Walking Dead are finally up with The Talking Dead breaking a ratings record.

The potentially game-changing third episode of the sixth season of The Walking Dead drew 13.1 million total viewers on Sunday with 8.5 million among adults 18-49 for a 6.8 rating, according to Nielsen.

That’s an 8% rise in both its overall audience and the key demo for October 25’s episode, titled “Thank You,” compared with the October 18 airing of TWD.

To make things better for the Walking Dead, ratings for The Talking Dead are finally increasing showing an increase demand for more zombie drama and the Walking Dead after show. In fact, ratings for The Talking Dead increased by 49%.

Star Wars: Chewbacca Arrested in Ukraine After Failing to Show ID

Chewebacca appears before a court in Ukraine after man inside a Star Wars costume failed to show ID.

According to The Guardian, a man wearing a Chewbacca costume was arrested for not presenting identification documents. Police had earlier detained him at a polling station where he said he was was going to vote for Darth Vader in a mayoral election.

The man was fined about $7.50 for the “administrative offense”.

Darth Vaders have been frequent candidates at Ukrainian elections, with a reported 16 of them taking part in last year’s parliamentary vote. The Vaders, many of whom have changed their names legally, usually campaign in full costume. A statue of Vladimir Lenin was given a makeover and unveiled in a new guise as Darth Vader last week, in response to a Ukrainian law banning symbols of the Communist past.

Chewbacca’s arrest was not the only controversy on election day. More significantly, the vote was cancelled in the city of Mariupol, close to the front line between pro-Ukraine forces and Russia-backed separatists. The official reason was due to spoiled ballot papers, and there are plans to reschedule the vote in a fortnight.

Apparently, recent elections in Ukraine have become victim to voter-buying, spoiler candidates and backroom deals, leading to many people wondering why Ukraine has not changed after the Maidan revolution that occurred last year.

The Real Reason Why Aziz Ansari Turned Down A ‘Transformers’ Role

While many actors feel the need to do anything to land a role in a movie or TV show, Aziz Ansari says there is one line that he will not cross.

Aziz Ansari once turned down a role in 2007’s Transformers because he refused to do an Indian accent during an audition. His friend Ravi Pati would later land the role but, Ansari says that Hollywood has a major problem.

“Should I do an accent? Should I not do the accent? That’s a thing that a lot of minority actors grapple with,” Aziz Ansari said during an EW Fest Q&A for his new Netflix series, “Master of None.”

“It was a role for like a call-center guy who has an accent. And I was like, ‘No, I’m not doing it.’ And then Ravi was like, ‘I’ll do it.’ And Ravi did it and made some decent money. And I don’t have anything against someone who does the accent. I understand. You got to work, and some people don’t think it’s a problem.”

The 32-year-old comedian, who created his Netflix show because he wasn’t being cast in any other roles, said he and his costar frequently debated about doing accents on-screen. They also deal with the issue on their new TV show with scenes illustrating how Hollywood often portrays Indian men and women in TV shows and movies.

Racial diversity on TV and movies is a major issue and hot topic in Hollywood. Especially following Deadline’s article about white actors losing out on roles due to color blind casting. Or, the recent #BoycottStarWars after it was revealed the leading actor in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was John Boyega, a Black actor.

Here are the ten biggest box office bombs of 2015…so far!

If a movie is released in theaters and it breaks even, then it is considered a box office bomb or box office flop, thos losing money for the studio, production company, or distributor. In rare instances, a movie can make money during home media sales, rentals, or TV broadcast rights. But, this rarely ever happens.

Following the success of Fifty Shades of Grey, Furious 7, and Jurassic World, many analysts are predicting that 2015 will have the biggest year ever at the box office. However, over the weekend, there were bombs in the box office then there are explosions in a Michael Bay movie. Four major studio movie movies were released last weekend and in total they barely made $11 million. For example, Steve Jobs, The Last Witch Hunter, Paranormal Activity 6, Rock the Kasbah and Jem and the Holograms all bombed in the box office.

Each movie was released in over 2,000 movie theaters but made less than $3 million dollars each. But, those movies are not alone, the director of Catfish tried making a feature film with Zac Efron, We Are Your Friends, and that bombed in the box office. Johnny Depp tried to be funny again in the comedy Mortdecai and that movie flopped. Then there is Sean Penn’s Taken rip-off, The Gunman which also bombed in the box office.

Which begs the question, with so much money invested into making these movies, how come studios are unable to figure out how to make a movie worth seeing?

For a majority of the cases, large production costs, major marketing efforts, and the failure to connect with audiences all led to major Box Office let downs.

While, last weekend was only an example of how uninterested people are about recent major motion pictures, Netflix was able to showcase Beasts of No Nation starring Idris Elba to $3 million people in less than a month; Showing a clear shift from traditional movie going.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’: Movie Theater Costume Restrictions are Now in Place

Theaters are creating strict restrictions on cosplay fans for the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. 

Were you considering wearing a Darth Vader costume and bringing your Darth Maul lightsaber to the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie release this December? If you are, you probably want to double check with your local movie theater first.

With the increase in the number of movie theater shootings, movie theaters are taking extra precautions to protect the fans and moviegoers.

This tweet shows a sign at a Cinemark theater warning that, while Star Wars costumes are welcomed by the theater, Cinemark is placing restrictions on the type of costumes Star Wars fans are able to wear. In fact, Cinemark revealed that they will not allow audience members with costumes that cover their faces or hide their identity, and there will also be ban against simulated weapons, ranging from blasters to even lightsabers. While there is no specific reason cited on the sign, this is probably a direct response to the increase in movie theater shootings in the past five years. Especially, after the Lafayette shooting which left three people dead and seven people injured after a gunman opened fire at the Grand Theatre in Lafayette, Louisiana. Regardless, fans are pretty upset about the new movie restrictions with many people taking to Twitter to voice their frustration.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was co-written and directed by JJ Abrams and takes place 30 years after ‘Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi,” when the rebels crushed the Galactic Empire. While audiences will see some of their favorite actors return to their iconic roles, a new wave of villains and heroes are expected to appear in the new feature film.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens” features Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Pip Anderson.

Teens Riot While Watching ‘Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension’

French teens are starting riots after watching ‘Paranormal Activity 6’…but this is not the first time.

Why are so many French teens rioting at American horror movies?

Reports from France are suggesting Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension may get pulled from theaters after teens gathered and rioted during a screening of the American horror movie. According to a report by L’Independent reads:

It all started in the early afternoon when fifty most teenagers aged 9-13 years, gathered near the Castillet cinema Boulevard Wilson. Suddenly, around 4 PM, all of the young boarded various modes of free transportation, all in the same direction: the Mega Castillet cinema. They converged with another group of minors who were waiting there and immediately smelled “a good bargain.” A horde of hundreds kids that forced the cinema entrance… climbing the stairs four at a time, weaving in all directions, overturning bins, and sowing panic.  They stormed a theater screening Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, destroying 3D glasses, tearing up seats, and throwing objects at the screen. The same thing happened in 2014 when the American horror movie Annabelle was pulled from theaters after a series of riots in theaters across France. According to reports, Marseille, Strasbourg, and Montpellier were getting thousands of teenagers showing for a 450 seat movie theater to see “Annabelle” and proceeded to tear up seats and riot during the movie.

“Some didn’t have the most elementary notion of how to behave,” theater owner Didier Tarizzo told The Times. “They were throwing popcorn and talking at the top of their voices or walking round. It’s not up to me to teach young people how to respect the law. What worried me was that a cinemagoer irritated by all the noise could have had a go at an adolescent.”

Do you think this is just a coincidence? Think again. The same thing happened in France in 2012 during the screenings of Paranormal Activity 4. Bloody Disgusting reported at the time that youth riots led to Sinister being pulled from several major French theaters, before the movie was ever released.

So it begs the question? Why are French kids rioting during American horror movies? Is it because each of the movies centers around evil children? French Film critic Alain Grasett argues, “It’s a very young audience, for whom the screening is a time to let loose. They go to see it as a joke, but it’s a pretext to go a little wild.”

Nurses Fired After Trying to Take Pictures of Lamar Odom

Nurses tried to take pictures of Lamar Odom and his medical records in Las Vegas.

Lamar Odom is slowly recovering from 12 reported strokes and according to TMZ, several staffers have been trying to take pictures of the former NBA championship winner.

According to reports, workers were trying to sneak a photo of Lamar Odom as he is fighting for his life inside the hospital. Sources closes to TMZ report that they tried to gain access to his medical records, which is a direct violation of HIPPA rules.

The nurses were later fired, according to reports.

But, it is important to point out that this is not the first time this has happened. Apparently, Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears had their privacy rights violated during their hospital stays, and the hospitals were forced to fire the workers who created the plans.

‘The Purge’ To Start This Halloween? FBI Warns Cops

Is the Purge going to start this Halloween? The FBI announces an anarchist group is going to start targeting people this Halloween.

According to the NYPost, the FBI released an alert on Monday warning police departments across the country that a potentially dangerous anarchist group plans to ambush cops on Halloween.

According to the FBI report, the extremist group, which is known as the National Liberation Militia, has proposed “Halloween Revolt” that encourages followers to cause anarchy, attract the police and then viciously attack them.

The FBI reports that the members are being told to wear regular Halloween masks and use weapons such as bricks, guns, and bottles.

The Ferguson Effect

This news comes after the FBI chief argues that crime rates have increased due to the “Ferguson Effect”.

A year after the Ferguson protests in Ferguson, Missouri brought scrutiny of Police, FBI Director James Comey has argued that the increase in crime is linked to the “Ferguson Effect” – “which police advocates have said causes officers to back down in the face of extra scrutiny on their actions,” according to TheHill.com.

“Each incident that involves perceived or actual misconduct by police that’s captured on video and spreads around the world bends this line this way,” Comey said on Monday during the annual convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Chicago. “Each incident that involves an attack on a member of law enforcement bends our line that way.

“I have seen those lines arcing apart in a lot of different ways,” he added.

“I actually feel the lines continuing to arc away and maybe accelerating incident by incident, video by video, hashtag by hashtag,” Comey continued. “And that’s a terrible place for us to be.

“Just as those lines are arcing away from each other — and maybe, just maybe, because those lines are arcing away from each other — we have a crisis of violent crime in some of our major cities in this country.”

He continued by saying that the increase of smart phones is making police officers reluctant to do their job. “In today’s YouTube world, are officers reluctant to get out of their cars and do the work that controls violent crime?” he rhetorically asked during a speech at the University of Chicago Law School, according to a of the speech.
