Critics Bash ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Open Casting Call

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 director James Gunn was forced to respond to complaints following an alleged “sexist” casting call.

After the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 casting call went viral online yesterday, many people were upset and immediately started complaining calling the new movie sexist.

The Mary Sue said: ‘If this is what women have to put up with to break into Hollywood, then it makes sense why we’re lacking in representation of body types and looks on the big screen.

‘The problem starts here at the source, at the entry-level work that’s being offered to women. If you can’t fit in to some ideal form, then there’s just no opportunities out there for you starting out. It becomes that much more difficult to gain footing.’

James Gunn responded to the criticism on Twitter, defending the open casting call.

One fan asked: ‘This would seem to be very lame @JamesGunn – is there some story reason for no female “character” aliens?’

He replied: ‘There are DOZENS of cultures in GotGVol2. These are the 1st two we’re shooting (the Ravagers are all male).

‘Again, two groups of many’ Gunn commented again on Twitter, ‘There are plenty of funny looking female aliens. These are just a small % of extras.’

The first Guardians of the Galaxy featured Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana and Vin Diesel. It would later become a box office hit making nearly $775 million dollars worldwide. The release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. Details surrounding the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie have not been revealed.

Hollywood Wanted to Create a “Ferris Bueller” Sequel

Did Hollywood plan on creating a “Ferris Bueller” sequel?

Matthew Broderick admitted to Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” that there were discussions of a follow-up to the 1980s hit movie but it never happened.

“It was discussed but it kind of never went very far,” Broderick explained. “But it wasn’t me, it was just nobody really agreed on what to do and when to do it.”

Andy Cohen asked the Broderick, if he regrets not pushing for a sequel.

“Now I look back and I think, ‘Yeah that was a great idea.’ They should have done a lot of them…I think what I would have had now.”

Actor and Former Tommy Hilfiger Model Dies After Jumping Off a Bridge

Former Tommy Hilfiger model dies after jumping off a bridge in California.

Actor and model Sam Sarpong Jr. died on Monday in Pasadena, California of an apparent suicide. The British-American TV actor and model who worked on MTV’s Yo Mama for three seasons, he was only 40 years old.

Us Weekly reports that a representative from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner – Coroner has confirmed that Sarpong died after jumping off a bridge.

Sarpong’s rep provided the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter:

It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong, Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time. Information about final arrangements will be forthcoming. The family appreciates the thoughts prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time. Samuel Sarpong Jr. is survived by his father Samuel Sarpong Sr., and his sister June Sarpong. Sam Sarpong was 40 years old. Sam Passed away on Monday, October 27, 2015 at 3:50 p.m. in Pasadena Ca.

Sarpong started his career as a model for major fashion brands like Louis Vuitton and walking in shows for Versace, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana.

He recently worked on the new FX series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which premieres early 2016. But, Sarpong has worked on several other major movies including the 2003 box office hit movie Love Don’t Cost a A Thing.

Why the Tupac Biopic May NEVER Actually Happen

LAWSUIT: Tupac biopic lawsuit for $10 million may put the future of the movie in jeopardy.

Following the success of Straight Outta Compton, the NWA biopic, fans and producers were eagerly searching for the next hip hop movie adaptation. Then came along, the Tupac biopic. Fans and producers celebrated at the chance of watching Tupac’s life story unfold on the big screen. There were several open casting calls across the country looking for actors to play the legendary infamous Tupac Shakur. Most recently, WSA Casting held an open casting call in Atlanta for Atlanta male actors to audition for the role. Then it was revealed that producers may have found their leading man for the movie. Everything was moving forward

But, all of that may be coming to an end.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emmett/Furla Oasis claims Morgan Creek broke the companies’ co-producing contract for the Tupac biopic by hiring an actor and creating a production schedule with out their consent or approval.

The company now wants $10 million in damages.

In the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Emmett/Furla principals Randall Emmett and George Furla say “the development of the Picture had stalled and the project was essentially dormant for a few years” by the time they became attached to the film in 2013.

Emmett and Furla say they signed an agreement to produce the biopic with Morgan Creek in September 2013. Terms of the agreement include a production budget not above $30 million, mutual approval for the production schedule and distribution and sales agreements and sole approval for Emmett/Furla of the director (Carl Franklin recently replaced John Singleton) and the actor who would portray Shakur, they say.

Apparently, things got heated after the release of Straight Outta Compton, as Morgan Creek pushed the Emmett and Furla to come up with the money to start filming of the Tupac Biopic. 

The plaintiffs allege a month after the release of Compton, Morgan Creek required they produce immediate evidence they could pay half the film’s production budget and agree “to new and arbitrary terms that were not part of the original … agreement” or otherwise forfeit their participation in the project. A month later, they say, Morgan Creek informed them the budget for the project would exceed $34 million and renewed the demand for Emmett/Furla to provide 50 percent.

Emmett and Furla refused, they say.

The plaintiffs now want $10 million in damages. In addition, they claim breaches of contract, breach of the implied covenant and breach of fiduciary duty.

Brad Pitt reveals what it’s like working for his wife Angelina Jolie.

Brad Pitt will appear on the cover of V Magazine’s latest issue and the A-list actor opened up about what it was like working with his wife Angelina Jolie in the upcoming movie By the Sea, a movie that centers around the emotional breakdown of a married couple.

“It was probably not the wisest way to spend a honeymoon. But then again, fighting to make something together … what better metaphor for marriage?” the actor said about working alongside opposite Angelina Jolie, who also wrote and directed the By the Sea. 

“It’s surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife. She’s decisive, incredibly intuitive, knife-sharp, and might I say, sexy at her post. I trust her with my life,” Pitt shared. “For this one, I operated on pure instinct. Angie and I have too much history and understanding of each other to question beyond there.”

The couple first started working together ten years ago on set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. On filming By the Sea, which is the first movie together since the action thriller Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Brad Pitt noted that he and Jolie revealed that they wanted to make a movie together as a family by saying let’s “keep it a family affair.”

“We, by our own admission, were overdue,” he said. “If I’m going to work, I want to work with my wife.”

By the Sea hits theaters on November 13th.

New Major Movie Studio Opens in Atlanta

Big Peach Studio is the latest movie studio to open in Atlanta, Georgia.

With Georgia’s growing film industry there is a constant demand for actors, crew members and movie studios. Now, a new movie studio is headed to Atlanta, Georgia.

Big Peach Studios is a newly constructed production facility with over 27,000 sq. ft of studio space, production facilities and other high quality features.

According to their website, Big Peach Studios features professional equipment and two major studios and professional lighting.

Studio A  is our large studio and features a 40 ft., 180°, green screen cyc wall. This studio is ideal for productions that need a little room to spread out. Studio B is our smaller studio and features a 90° white cyc wall and a black cyc wall. Both studios are pre-lit with 6 Kino Flo Image 47 DMX Fluorescent Fixtures.

Hollywood Reacts to the Spring Valley High School Arrest

Hollywood’s biggest celebrities took to Twitter to bash the arrest of a South Carolina high school student, who was forcibly thrown onto the grown by a police officer after allegedly refusing to hand over her phone to a teacher.

The arrest occurred Monday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, South Carolina.

One of the student’s classmates, who videotaped the arrest, told USA Today the girl had her phone out while working on her computer.

The classmate said the teacher asked for her phone, and when the student refused, an administrator was called into the room to take the girl to the discipline office.

The classmate explained, “She really didn’t do anything wrong. She said that she had took her phone out, but it was only for a quick second.”

Deputy Ben Fields then was called to help remove the student from teh class, and the video shows what happened next.

Fields has been placed on administrative leave, pending the results of an investigation.

Since then, Hollywood has spoken out against the Spring Valley High School arrest using the hashtag #AssaultAtSpringValleyHigh.

The Georgia Film Academy To Start Classes this January

The Georgia Film Academy will open their doors in less than three months.

Recently, Gov. Nathan Deal announced his plans to establish the Georgia Film Academy to help support the growing demand of Georgia’s growing film industry. Now, the Georgia’s Governor plans to support Georgia’s growing film industry are beocming a reality as the Film Academy will be located at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia.

According to The Citizen, the Georgia Film Academy will start their first classes in January 2016.

From The Citizen:

The new film academy will open its doors in January and, according to Executive Director Jeff Stepakoff, the intent is to offer for-credit courses in conjunction with the University System of Georgia (USG) and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) along with continuing education course work.

“There is tremendous support and interest in the film academy,” said Stepakoff, a professor of film and television writing at Kennesaw State University, who has been involved in producing, writing and content creation for both television and motion pictures.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios is planning on working with the Georgia Film Academy to create a 15,000 sq. ft. soundstage building. The location of the soundstage is currently unknown, but plans suggest it will be located in the legendary Pinewood Atlanta Studios.

Pinewood Atlanta Studios will become the first industry partner with the Georgia Film Academy, Board of Regents, University School System of Georgia and Technical College School System of Georgia, according to Stepakoff.

“The intent is to have pilot classes with our academic partners (USG and TCSG) in January for the spring semester,” Stepakoff noted. “The intent is to offer courses for credit and those for continuing education.”

Universal Studios Announces Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show Ride

Universal Studios to create and reveal a Jimmy Fallon ride in 2017.

Apparently, running hosting a nightly talk show is not enought. Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon will take people through a simulated journey through New York City.

On Tuesday, the late-night show revealed that Universal Studios Orlando theme park is planning a new ride featuring Jimmy Fallon.

Even though Jimmy Fallon didn’t reveal any details he did give a few hints.

“I wish I could give all the details. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say. I can’t say anything,” he said prior to spilling a few beans. “They’re working on it now. 2017 is when it comes out. Maybe just bleep it out, I can’t say anything, just bleep it out.”

“It’s called Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon and we’re all excited about this,” Fallon told audiences.

HBO Cancels ‘The Brink’ After Only One Season

HBO has just pulled the plug on The Brink. 

The Jack Black and Tim Robbins comedy is over as HBO has decided not to produce a second season of The Brink. 

“After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give The Brink the attention it deserves for a second season,” said HBO in a statement. “We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.”

Brink focused on the governmental politics and international foreign affairs of three government officials. Walter Larson, U.S. secretary of state (Robbins); Alex Talbot, a  Central Intelligence Affairs officer (Black); and Zeke Tilson, an ace Navy fighter pilot (Pablo Schreiber).

The TV series drew in 1.6 million viewers, which is a step down from HBO’s Ballers, which is holding an open casting call in Miami this weekend, ratings of 2.2 million viewers.

This news comes as HBO is losing several TV shows. 2016 will be the final season of Getting On, Silicon Valley, Togetherness, Veep. However, HBO is working on several new TV shows including Vice Principals, High Maintenance, Animals, Brothers in Atlanta, and Insecure.

LAPD Union Joins the Call for the Boycott of Quentin Tarantino Movies

LAPD Union is joining the NYPD boycott of Quentin Tarantino movies.

The police union representing the Los Angeles Police Department has joined New York City’s police department union in their boycott of Quentin Tarantino movies.

According to reports, following Quentin Tarantino’s appearance at a anti-police brutality rally in New York City, Los Angeles Police Department unions are calling for all LAPD police to stop watching any Quentin Tarantino movies.

“We fully support constructive dialogue about how police interact with citizens. But there is no place for inflammatory rhetoric that makes police officers even bigger targets than we already are,” Craig Lally, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, said in a statement Tuesday.

“Film director Quentin Tarantino took irresponsibility to a new and completely unacceptable level this past weekend by referring to police as murderers during an anti-police march in New York. He made this statement just four days after a New York police officer was gunned down in the line of duty.

“New York police and union leaders immediately called out Tarantino for his unconscionable comments, with union head Patrick Lynch advocating a boycott of his films. We fully support this boycott ofQuentin Tarantino films,” Lally continued. “Hateful rhetoric dehumanizes police and encourages attacks on us. And questioning everything we do threatens public safety by discouraging officers from putting themselves in positions where their legitimate actions could be falsely portrayed as thuggery.”

Quentin Tarantino made police officers furious when he told a crowd of protesters at the rally in New York City that cops are the real “murderers”.

“When I see murders, I do not stand by…. I have to call a murder a murder, and I have to call the murderers the murderers,” the Pulp Fiction director said.

Patrick Lynch, the president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association – the police union for NYPD, called Quentin Tarantino a “purveyor of degeneracy” who “has no business coming to our city to peddle his slanderous ‘Cop Fiction’.”

“It’s no surprise that someone who makes a living glorifying crime and violence is a cop-hater, too. The police officers that Quentin Tarantino calls ‘murderers’ aren’t living in one of his depraved big-screen fantasies — they’re risking and sometimes sacrificing their lives to protect communities from real crime and mayhem,” Lynch said, adding, “It’s time for a boycott of Quentin Tarantino’s films.”

‘Pitch Perfect 3’: Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Banks Are Back!

Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Banks are returning to the stage for Pitch Perfect 3. 

Following the release of Pitch Perfect 2, Rebel Wilson told the Los Angeles Times that a Pitch Perfect 3 was in the works. That was several months ago, only at that time Rebel Wilson was confirmed for the film. Now The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Elizabeth Banks has signed a contract to direct the third installment of the Pitch Perfect  franchise.

In addition to Elizabeth Banks and Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow will reprise their roles as America’s favorite a capella singers.

Elizabeth Banks will also produce the film with her husband Max Handleman.

Pitch Perfect 2 was a major hit in the box office. The movie made $285.2 million in the box office, making it the highest domestic opening ever for a first-time movie director.

Elizabeth Banks is also expected to direct the upcoming reboot to Charlie’s Angel. 

This news comes after a study showed whenever a women is a producer or director in a feature film, the number of female crew members increase dramatically.

The previous Pitch Perfect 2 filmed in New Orleans, Louisiana last year.

Kim Kardashian isn’t too happy about being pregnant.

It is rare to see celebrities openly hate being pregnant. Typically, it is being called a miracle and gift from God. But, Kim Kardashian hates being pregnant. She recently put it on her website, “I’m feeling like a fucking whale.”

Kim is also upset at her unborn baby for sitting on her bladder and causing her heartburn. But, this is not the first time. She explained in the past that being pregnant is “the worst experience of my life.”

Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian’s younger sister, is still supporting her estranged husband, Lamar Odom. Odom, who suffered at least 12 strokes during his stay at the Las Vegas brothel.

George Lucas Donates $10M to Support Black, Hispanic Filmmakers at USC Film School

George Lucas Foundation donates $10 million to help Black and Hispanic film students at the USC Film School.

USC Film School announced on Tuesday that the George Lucas Family Foundation is donating $10 million to its film school to provide financial support to black and Hispanic film students.

The money will be used to create the George Lucas Foundation Endowed Student Support Fund for Diversity.

In a statement, the Star Wars director said Hispanic and African-American storytellers are underrepresented in the TV and film industry.

The donation is the largest single donation for student support in USC Film School history.

This comes after #BoycottStarWars went viral on Twitter calling for the boycott of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fans of the Star Wars series became extremely upset after finding out John Boyega, a black actor was the leading star in the latest Star Wars movie.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was co-written and directed by JJ Abrams and takes place 30 years after ‘Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi,” when the rebels crushed the Galactic Empire. While audiences will see some of their favorite actors return to their iconic roles, a new wave of villains and heroes are expected to appear in the new feature film.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens” features Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Pip Anderson.

Jared Fogle Bragged About Child-Sex Crimes in Secret Recordings

In secret audio recording, Jared Fogle bragged about having sex with children.

Humiliated, disgraced, and former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle was caught on secretly recorded audio tapes bragging about his attraction to kids. Fogle also said hew anted to travel “across the world” to sleep with more and more children.

“I would fly us clear across the world if we need to. To Thailand or wherever we want to go. If we’re gonna try to get some young kids with us it would be a lot easier,” the former Subway spokesperson told Rochelle Herman-Walrond, a former Florida writer who had became friends with Jared Fogle so she could expose his history of sexual abuse of children and pedophilia.

Herman-Walrond first met Fogle nine years ago when he was a guest on her radio show and he shocked her by saying middle-school girls were “hot.” She later taped conversations that she would turn over to the FBI, leading to criminal charges against Fogle and his bestfriend.

Fogle later had to pay out $1 million to 10 of his 14 victims after pleading guilty to child-pornography and sex-crime charges. He faces between 5 to 12 years in prison. Subsequently, his wife Katie, filed for divorce after the scandal went viral.

The recordings and an interview with Herman-Walrond are scheduled to be aired Thursday and Friday on the Dr. Phil show.

At one point, she asked him about being with kids. This is what Fogle had to say: “I had a little boy. It was amazing,” the 38-year-old Fogle said. “It just felt so good. I mean, it felt — it felt so good.”

She also asked Fogle if he preferred little boys or little girls. “Both of them,” he answered, according to audio posted on the Dr. Phil Web site.

Jared Fogle also asked her disturbing questions about even her own kids. “Are there any of your kids’ friends that you think are pretty hot? What if we put a camera in your kids’ room, would they be OK with that?” he said.

A horrified Herman-Walrond told Dr. Phil she started to feel like a victim after investigating Jared Fogle for so long.

“I had to be two separate people in order to continue on with this investigation,” she said.

Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ Open Casting Call in Atlanta

Marvel is holding an open casting call for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Have you ever wanted to appear in a Marvel movie? Did you love watching the Guardians of the Galaxy? Well, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 casting directors are now looking for actors, models, and talent to work on the upcoming feature film as it films in the newly constructed Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.

Project Casting recently reported that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was in pre-production in Atlanta last week, now Tammy Smith Casting, the official extras casting director for the latest Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

According to the casting call, Tammy Smith Casting, the extras casting company for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, is currently looking for male actors to play Aliens. So, producers are looking for men ages 18 to 65 that are extremely thin, have imperfect teeth, strong facial bone structures and amputees to audition for a featured Alien background extra role.

In addition, casting directors are looking for beautiful Alien models. Marvel producers are looking for men and women between the ages of 18 to 50. Tammy Smith Casting is looking for very attractive, physically fit, and some bald women to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. 

The open casting call will take place at the Georgia International Convention Center on Saturday, November 7th through Sunday, November 8th from 12 to 6 PM:

Tammy Smith Casting is looking for actors to be dressed in solid dark colors with dark pants. In addition, for the model roles, Marvel is looking for actors, models, and talent to show up in form fitting skirts or dresses.

Experienced and non-experienced extras are both welcome to come. You must be legal to work in the UNited States with a non-restricted Social Security number. In addition, this casting call is FREE. That means there are no fees for the casting call.

Pay rates for these types of roles will be discussed at the open casting call.

Please do not bring children to the casting call, or others that do not fit the types we previously described.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy featured Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana and Vin Diesel. It would later become a box office hit making nearly $775 million dollars worldwide. The release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017. Details surrounding the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie have not been revealed.
