Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ and ‘Red Notice’ To Resume Filming in Atlanta This August

Georgia’s film industry is ramping up production with several popular TV shows heading into development in August.

According to reports, Netflix’s ‘Ozark,’ AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead,’ and Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Red Notice’ are all expected to resume production in August.

Last month, several reality shows started production, including Bravo’s ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ However, Tyler Perry’s drama ‘Sistas’ finished filming in Atlanta after shooting an entire season in only two weeks.

All productions closed in March and remained so until June with only a few shows continuing to film under social distancing guidelines.

As we previously reported, 20 films and TV shows are currently in production. That is approximately a 50% drop from before the pandemic.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson announced his production company would resume filming the Netflix film ‘Red Notice’ in a “quarantined bubble” next month.

Johnson’s production team, Seven Bucks Production, and Netflix are working together to create a “quarantined bubble” for the filmmakers and crew; the actor revealed on Saturday in a message and video via his Instagram account.

Johnson says he is receiving advice from the NBA to create a bubble for the production team.

“They’ve been great in terms of sharing with us what has been effective with their bubble,” Johnson said. “And we can implement that in our bubble.”

He also acknowledged that the road back to work would be “tricky.” “There’s no blueprint here, we’re in the beta phase every step of the way,” Johnson said.

Johnson did not reveal how long people are expected to work and live in the quarantined bubble.

Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ Season 4 will feature two separate seven-episode runs, for a total of 14, and “mark the final chapter in the Byrde family’s journey from suburban Chicago life to their criminal enterprise in the Ozarks,” according to Netflix.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” ‘Ozark’ Chris Mundy said Tuesday in a statement. “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on-screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

“A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes,” Jason Bateman said. “I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

This news comes after Tyler Perry, successfully filmed an entire season of his BET series ‘Sistas’ in a quarantined bubble in Atlanta, Georgia. After wrapping production on his BET series “Sistas” without a COVID-19 during the two-week shoot. Now, production for “The Oval” is ramping up as the cast and crew are setting up to arrive at Tyler Perry Studios on Thursday. Tyler Perry says there is not much he plans to do differently this time around, especially when it comes to wearing masks and around the campus.

“I made sure that the cast and crew and everybody wore their masks when they weren’t on set because I do know for a fact that masks help stop the spread — scientifically, I know that,” Perry tells Variety. “And everybody adhered to that, even though we were all testing negative. I just didn’t want someone to be incubating with [COVID-19] for three to 12 days, and we not know it.”

Tyler Perry and the production crew for “Sistas” wore their masks for 12 to 14 hours at a time while shooting the 22-episode season.

About ‘Leverage 2.0’:

Amazon’s free ad-supported streaming service IMDb TV is rebooting ‘Leverage’. The new series will be a reboot of the 2008 TNT crime show ‘Leverage’, which follows a group of thieves who steal from the rich and help those in need.

Dean Devlin produced the original series will also return as an executive producer on the reboot. “Our new series with Amazon Studios and IMDb TV is a re-imagining of the original premise. While Leverage centered on a crusade to avenge the death of a child, this series is propelled forward as a redemption story of misdeeds that need amends.”

The new 13-episode series will see the original cast return in some capacity. Beth Riesgraf, Gina Bellman, and Christian Kane will be reprising their roles as Parker Elliot, Sophie Devereaux, and Eliot Spencer, respectively, while Aldis Hodge will return in a recurring role as the team’s hacker, Alec Hardison.

Noah Wyle will replace Timothy Hutton on the series.

‘Family Feud‘ to resume filming in Atlanta this August 2020.

According to reports, the hit game show ‘Family Feud’ is the latest production to resume filming. Deadline reports Steve Harvey is returning to the studio in Atlanta, Georgia for filming that is set to resume on August 4th.

The show is set to film its 22nd season on September 14th. The show will have the same quality with slight changes being made. The contestants and the crew are able to make social distancing requirements.

The show will be shot with a smaller crew and no audience with crew wearing personal protective equipment and masks with regular temperature checks and other health and safety guidelines created by both state and local governments including union guidelines.

Production on season 22 is split between Los Angeles and Atlanta. Some of the shows were filmed “behind closed doors” in California before moving the crew back to Georgia.

According to Nielsen National Syndication Rankings, the ‘Family Feud’ show is now the number one show across all demographics for the second quarter of 2020. In overall households, it is now beating ‘Jeopardy!’ and in adults 25-54 and women 25-54 it comes in ahead of ‘Judge Judy.’

This news comes after Tyler Perry, successfully filmed an entire season of his BET series ‘Sistas’ in a quarantined bubble in Atlanta, Georgia. After wrapping production on his BET series “Sistas” without a COVID-19 during the two-week shoot. Now, production for “The Oval” is ramping up as the cast and crew are setting up to arrive at Tyler Perry Studios on Thursday. Tyler Perry says there is not much he plans to do differently this time around, especially when it comes to wearing masks and around the campus.

“I made sure that the cast and crew and everybody wore their masks when they weren’t on set because I do know for a fact that masks help stop the spread — scientifically, I know that,” Perry tells Variety. “And everybody adhered to that, even though we were all testing negative. I just didn’t want someone to be incubating with [COVID-19] for three to 12 days, and we not know it.”

Tyler Perry and the production crew for “Sistas” wore their masks for 12 to 14 hours at a time while shooting the 22-episode season.

“Listen, I was the mask police. Every time I saw something I was screaming about it,” Perry says. “It’s summer in Georgia so credit to the crew — it’s burning up here and they were still doing the right thing. So, I gave a lot more breaks for people to have water because we had a couple people that got dehydrated from all the heat, and the water breaks were actually the ‘breath break’ where you can pull your mask down, drink some water and get some fresh air.”

Ryan Reynolds is Now Looking for Aspiring Filmmakers

Ryan Reynolds is using his celebrity status to create an on-set film production diversity program for marginalized communities.

The “Deadpool” actor announced plans on Friday for the Group Effort Initiative, which will recruit 10 to 20 trainees from Black, Indigenous, and other “marginalized communities” to work alongside experienced filmmakers on his next movie.

Reynolds says in a statement, “Making a film is a group effort, but for entirely too long that group has systemically excluded Black, Indigenous, people of color and several other marginalized communities. This is a global problem that will not be fixed overnight, but change can start locally and immediately.”

He added, “Covid-willing, we’ll be starting a movie this fall. We’ll be bringing on between 10 and 20 trainees who are Black, Indigenous, people of color or people from marginalized and excluded communities. Of all ages. These new recruits will be paid and housed out of my salary and will spend their days on set learning from professionals and getting real-life experience that they can then parlay into another job and another job and hopefully a career in the film industry.”

Reynolds did not reveal the name of the film in a video posted on social media, but he confirmed the production is set to begin shooting this fall and the program is in partnership with Netflix and SkyDance.

Reynolds says expenses for trainees including pay, housing, and travel will come out of his salary. The Group Effort Initiative will work through Reynold’s Maximum Effort production company. Reynolds called on other Hollywood stars “with the privilege that I’m lucky enough to experience” to join his initiative to expand diversity and inclusivity in the film industry.

Imagine Impact from Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s production company, is looking for submissions as part of their deal with Netflix. The open submissions are looking to identify and help develop feature film ideas in four different genres, over the next year. The first four genre-specific application windows open Wednesday. The first round of projects is considered “large scale action-adventure movies for all audiences.” Applications will be accepted now until July 6th.

The host is expected to be the consistent face of the series, responsible for integrating the key brand messaging into the organic story of each episode. Like Survivor’s Jeff Probst or Drag Race’s RuPaul, the host will infuse the series with a unique combination of comedy, heart and charm while stirring the competitive pot.

Ideally the host would have previous experience on camera and/or has built up a following as a social media influencer. We are very open however to emerging talent who clearly have hosting chops but need a platform to prove it. Confidence performing for a crowd is also key so standup comedy / public speaking experience is an asset but not necessary.

COMPENSATION: $1500 per episode (includes prep and 1 day shoot) x 8 episodes. This will include a 5 year usage agreement worldwide and shooting and promotional material on the same shoot dates. Rate also includes one rehearsal day and a wardrobe call. Client can extend usage at a rate of $500 a year after the 5 years.

Production Company and staff/crew are taking COVID-19 very seriously and have put very specific precautions and guidelines in place. If you are not comfortable being on an indoor set with other people or with any of the requirements above or below, please do not submit.

All staff/crew is required to have their temperature checked upon arrival to set by a set medic.

All staff/crew is required to wear face masks and/or face shields when on set.

Extras will be required to wear a face mask covering their mouth and nose at all times on set except while filming, no exceptions.

Extras will be required to take their temperature the morning of filming, fill out and submit a medical evaluation form from National Set Medics and will have their temperature taken upon arrival to set.

Social distancing, hand-washing and other safety guidelines will be in place in all areas of this set location including background holding

We do not yet have Call Time/Wrap Times, so you MUST have FLEXIBLE/Open availability if submitting to be available regardless of what Call/Wrap Times end up being to allow for changes. Please DO NOT submit if you do not have FULL DAY availability.

Pay Rate – $64.00 for up to 8 hours (will be paid the full rate even if you work less than 8 hours, but be prepared for 8 just in case. Overtime will be paid at time and 1/2 for anything over 8 hours). Additional one time $25.00 bump for presenting your negative covid19 test result. Rate and bump will be paid to both the child and their Parent/Guardian.

**EXTRAS** – this scene takes place at CHRISTMAS and will require WINTER clothing in August, so please be prepared for this situation!

PEDESTRIANS: Male or Female, ALL ethnicities, age range 18-80, variety of small town conservative types. Covid testing will be provided at no charge for this role

COUPLE WALKING DOG: Male and Female, ALL ethnicities, age range 20-60, conservative small town types, Prefer a REAL couple that can work together and who are comfortable walking a dog (*dog will be provided by production, you do not need your own dog)
