‘The Blazing World‘ is now casting featured roles in Austin, Texas.

Casting directors are now casting twins for a featured role in the upcoming feature film ‘The Blazing World’, which is directed by Carlson Young, produced by Elizabeth Avellan and will filming Austin Texas this August 2nd through the 27th.

About ‘The Blazing World’:

According to reports, ‘The Blazing World’ centers around a “thriller follows a self-destructive young woman who decades after the accidental drowning of her twin sister, returns to her family home, finding herself drawn to an alternate dimension where her sister may still be alive.”

Deadline reports the movie will begin production in August and shoot outside of Austin, Texas entirely on one property with the cast and crew quarantining together in a private resort for both pre-production and filming.

“The film was not initially developed to be a COVID-era project, but when the pandemic hit and like everyone we had to shut down pre-production, we went back and took a closer look at the script and realized that with a few minor changes we could shoot this with a minimal crew, in one location, and with only a handful of actors without sacrificing the production value or integrity of the overall film,” Brinton Bryan of Greenbelt Films told Deadline.

Carlson Young and Udo Kier star in the upcoming project alongside Dermot Mulroney.

Shia LaBeouf Got Real Tattoos for ‘The Tax Collector’ Movie Role

Shia LaBeouf real tattoos for the role ‘The Tax Collector‘ and why it’s a big deal

Director David Ayer recently spoke on Shia LaBeouf’s dedication to acting and his method to filmmaking in the movie ‘Fury’ and ‘The Tax Collector.’

David Ayer continued by revealing Shia actually went through extensive tattooing to really portray the character, ‘Creeper’.

“He’s one of the best actors I’ve worked with, and he’s the most committed to body and soul,” Ayer said. “He had a tooth pulled on Fury, and then on Tax Collector, he got his whole chest tattooed. So he kind of goes all in, and I’ve never known anyone that committed.”

Tattoo artist Bryan Ramirez took to Instagram to show Shia’s new tattoos. According to Ramirez, the top portion is dedicated and inspired by the actor’s parents. The bottom of the tattoo features “CREEPER” mixed in with the larger artwork.

Do actors usually get tattoos for a movie role?

As we previously reported, getting tattoos is traditionally considered taboo for actors. We previously asked Jamie Lynn Catrett, the extras casting director behind the ‘Divergent‘ series and ‘The Hunger Games‘ about background artists that have tattoos and here is what she had to say:

“Because of a previous lawsuit between a production company and a tattoo artist, most production companies now require a form signed by the tattoo artist that ensures they will not sue the production company for using their art.”

It is important to note, Mike Tyson’s tattoo artist sued Warner Bros. to stop the release of ‘Hangover 2′. According to reports, S. Victor Whitmill, the tattoo artist who calls the Tyson tattoo “one of the most distinctive tattoos in the nation,” asked for an injunction to stop the release of the highly anticipated Bradley Cooper and the gang sequel. The man who gave Mike Tyson the distinctive facial tattoo sued Warner Bros. over the similar-looking facial art on Ed Helms’ character in the ‘The Hangover: Part II’ movie.

In related news, Shia LaBeouf is facing a casting backlash over the weekend after the trailer for the upcoming feature film ‘The Tax Collector’ hit the Internet. Shia plays the role of Creeper, a crime boss who has to collect taxes from other criminal organizations in the Los Angeles area. Many quickly noticed Shia is possibly performing in “Brownface” by being a white guy play a Hispanic character.

“@DavidAyerMovies Hey, really important question that I think you should answer publicly in 2020. Is Shia Lebouf playing a Latino character in Tax Collector? If so, why didn’t you cast a Latin actor?” A user on Twitter asked.

“Really important answer – Shia is playing a whiteboy who grew up in the hood. This is a Jewish dude playing a white character. Also the only white dude in the movie,” Ayer said in response. He elaborated further as a “whiteboy” who “grew up hood.”

‘The Batman’ Spin-Off TV Series Coming Soon to HBO Max

HBO Max is working on a Batman spin-off series.

Director Matt Reeves signed on to direct the project. Reeves is also working on the upcoming Robert Pattinson ‘The Batman’ movies.

The upcoming series will be a police TV series that is set in the same world Reeves is developing in the upcoming Pattinson movies. Terrence Winter will write the show’s script and it will focus around Gotham City Police Department’s attempt to keep the city safe. According to the press release, the series will focus on “the motion picture’s examination […] of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms.” 

HBO Max has not released the show’s name. However, some sources suggest the show will be called ‘Gotham Central’. Director Reeves also made a statement saying, “This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a long-form format can afford.”

No casting calls have been released, so far.

In related news, several movies will resume production in the UK after the government gives permission to big-budget productions.

The United Kingdom Government announced they will be allowing a “small numbers of essential cast and crew” to travel to the United Kingdom without having a quarantine for 14 days. That cast and crew will need to live and work in “bubbles”.

Beyoncé, NAACP to Award $10,000 Grants to Black-Owned Businesses – Apply Now!

Beyoncé and the NAACP give back to the Black community with $10,000 grants

Beyoncé’s foundation BeyGOOD partners with the NAACP to help and support Black-owned businesses who have been impacted by recent events, including the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

BeyGOOD announced the initiative on Instagram on Friday. The Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund promises economic empowerment for Black businesses in metropolitan areas, including Houston, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis, by offering them several $10,000 grants.

“The challenges of Black business owners navigating in the climate cannot be understated, as the effects of uprisings across the nation have led to many businesses being placed in dire straits due to damages and other small business needs,” the NAACP website reads.

The pandemic has hurt black businesses. The Coronavirus has forced many Black companies to close or file bankruptcy.  BeyGOOD and the NAACP’s program for economic empowerment focus on offering financial support for the Black community in these hard times.

Businesses based in the cities above can apply for a grant via the NAACP’s website until July 19. Applications will then be reviewed between July 20-29, with selected applicants to be notified on July 31. To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be a “black-owned small business owner” and be able to “provide property damage or replacement estimate,” according to the guidelines.

 

In related news, Netflix is now looking for aspiring writers.

Imagine Impact from Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s production company, is looking for submissions as part of their deal with Netflix. The open submissions are looking to identify and help develop feature film ideas in four different genres, over the next year. The first four genre-specific application windows open Wednesday. The first round of projects is considered “large scale action-adventure movies for all audiences.” Applications will be accepted now until July 6th.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk Breaks All-Time Facebook Record

The latest episode of Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ with her husband Will Smith has set a new record for the most views in 24 hours from a Facebook Watch original episode.

According to reports, the highly anticipated episode had more than 15 million views in the first 24 hours, breaking the previous record of 7.6 million views held by the ‘Red Table Talk’ for the Jordyn Woods episode.

The episode had so many numbers due to the celebrity couple addressing rumors Jada had an affair with R&B singer August Alsina, which Will allegedly approved of.

Last week, Alsina claimed he had been in a relationship with Jada while she was married. In fact, he claimed Will Smith also gave him his blessing. The news sent social media crazy with Jada initially denying those rumors.

Then on July 2nd, Pinkett Smith tweeted: “There’s some healing that needs to happen… so I’m bringing myself to The Red Table.”

In the episode of the Facebook Watch series, the couple pointed out that Pinkett Smith and Alsina did have a romantic relationship or “entanglement” nearly five years ago. Will and Jada were apparently separated during that time.

In related news, ‘Emancipation‘, an action slavery movie’ is coming soon starring Will Smith and directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). As the Black Lives Matter movement spreads around the world following the killing of George Floyd, Will Smith is tapped to star in an upcoming slavery thriller from the director of ‘Training Day’, Antoine Fuqua. According to reports, Will Smith has signed on to play a runaway slave in Antoine Fuqua’s action thriller ‘Emancipation’, which is scripted to being more like ‘The Revenant’ than ’12 Years a Slave’.
