A new feature film titled They Fight is now casting SAG and Non-Union background actors local to Baltimore, Maryland. The project seeks individuals of all ages, ethnicities, and genders to portray a variety of community and sports-related roles in this inspiring production.
About the Project:
Fox Sports’ acclaimed boxing documentary They Fight is being adapted into a narrative feature film from Argent Pictures and Mandalay Pictures. The original documentary, produced by Argent, Renzi, and Common, was based on a Washington Post article by Michael Minahan. It followed young fighters on their journey to the 2017 Junior Olympics as they balanced life at home, school, and in their community. The feature film will expand on these themes, delivering a cinematic portrayal of perseverance, mentorship, and the transformative power of sport.
Producers include Argent’s Jill Ahrens, Ryan Ahrens, and Ben Renzo, alongside Mandalay Pictures’ Jason Michael Berman (The Birth of a Nation). Fox Sports originally showcased the documentary as part of its Magnify Film Series, bringing it to select theaters nationwide.
According to producer Ryan Ahrens, “We really felt compelled to make a bigger cinematic version of this story after seeing how powerful the documentary played and the audience connection to it.”
Director Andrew Renzi added, “Boxing stories have always had a big place in my heart. I’m interested in showing where our boxing legends start, the community that molds them, and the push and pull between the sport and the world outside the ring.”
