TONE: An upbeat yet grounded preteen sports dramedy.
LOGLINE: Brazilian figure skating hopeful, Alina Santana (13), is thrust into the highly competitive environment of the world’s most prestigious ice-skating academy when she receives a scholarship to the High-Performance Winter Sports School (HPWSS) in Toronto, ON. The only thing more difficult than the rigorous practice schedule is navigating the thin ice of the school’s social scene.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, where the sun shines all year round and the coldest day of the year requires a thin sweater, Alina is a total fish-out-of-water in a frozen pond at the HPWSS. But this Carioca fireball will stop at nothing to make her dreams come true. Alina will ultimately realize that what makes her different is not a weakness, but the source of her greatness. When she embraces herself and her skating style, she will not only thrive, but she will inspire others and bring much needed change to the world around her.
