Job Summary:
Philadelphia’s #1 news station is putting together a team to take television news into the future. Our newest news manager will lead the station effort to prioritize streaming content in the country’s 4th largest TV market. In addition to top notch news judgment, writing and showcasing skills – this candidate will need to have an innovative mindset and a knack for leading people down a new path with positivity. We’re looking for a collaborative & enterprising person with the vision to spot new opportunities and the heart to turn them into something special.
This person should be able to produce, edit, post and lead the news team toward embracing and prioritizing this up and coming platform. This person may be assigned to work nights, overnights, holidays or weekends as needed and new tasks may be assigned as the position develops.
Responsibilities:
- Craft daily newscasts and manage all aspects of the broadcast
- Pitch story ideas on a daily basis
- Communicate well with others in the newsroom when building shows
- Collaborate with digital team members throughout the day
- Write clear and compelling copy
- Execute last-minute changes in high pressure situations
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a newsroom
- Demonstrated ability work under deadline pressures and work in a rapid, fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong editorial and production skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be flexible with working hours (late nights, overnights, holidays) and adaptable to change
Preferred Qualifications:
- Newsroom managerial experience
- Knowledge of the Philadelphia news market
- Experience developing original content for streaming platforms
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
