An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Journalist to join our team in Edinburgh. The Production Journalist will be responsible for covering news events throughout the country and providing content to the highest editorial and production standards for STV News, associated bulletins and digital platforms. You will be responsible for producing STV news bulletins across all STV platforms as appropriate and presenting material for our hourly bulletins and lunchtime news, as well as late bulletins.

The Production Journalist will also be assigned to the digital desk for agreed shifts across each rota period.

THE ROLE
Â
·      Provide creative editorial input to the running order of bulletins.
·      Produce articles and other content to agreed standards for digital publication.
·      Generate ideas for stories/features and follow leads from a variety of sources.
·      Research, collate evidence and information to support stories using relevant information sources.
·      Delivery of off-diary video newsgathering to continue our focus on locally produced news coverage
·      Provide enhanced video acquisition to record and edit packages for broadcast and digital platforms.
·      Operate on specifically scheduled newsgathering to produce general news stories and specialist reports.
·      Preparation of scripts for packages and bulletins which adhere to legal guidelines
·      Presentation of news stories in a professional and unbiased manner.
·      Deliver polished package reports using editing software.
·      Assist in any other aspects of the work of the company as reasonably required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Â
- Relevant related journalism experience gained within a broadcast environment.
- A detailed knowledge of the Scottish news agenda and the law as it affects Scotland.
- Experience of producing content for multiple platforms.
- A developed news sense, with the ability to handle major news stories, develop original news features and overall to deliver agenda-setting journalism.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-breaking News environment.
- An original approach to journalism with the confidence to develop innovative new ways of covering the news agenda.
- Able to develop an online presence through our digital platforms and the use of social media.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm, resilient, and adaptable in a dynamic live news environment.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and team working skills; ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, internal and external clients at all levels.
- Driven approach and use of own initiative to overcome challenges.
- A full UK drivers’ licence is essential

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Marketing Executive to join our Marketing team on a 9-month fixed-term contract basis to cover a period of maternity leave. The Senior Marketing Executive will work across all areas of the business playing an important role in supporting the business achieve its KPI’s. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable depth of experience in a marketing role delivering creative, results-driven multiplatform marketing campaigns in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and co-ordinating multi-platform marketing campaigns based on business priorities including briefing, development, execution, and post-campaign analysis.
- Manage and co-ordinate the STV Children’s Appeal Marketing strategy.
- Manage and co-ordinate STV award submissions strategy.
- Establishing strong relationships across the business and externally with agencies/ partners organisations.
- Co-ordinate and assist with other brand/content projects as required.
- Assist in any other aspect of the work of the company as reasonably required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably within a media environment.
- Evidence of understanding and implementing marketing principles and techniques.
- Proven experience of delivering Marketing campaigns across a variety of platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A positive and pro-active approach to problem solving and good time-management are essential.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in all MS Office applications.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve commercial objectives.
- A passion for marketing, content, brand and customer engagement.

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our Production Team, working alongside highly skilled creative, production and marketing professionals in an incredibly fast paced, creative commercial business.

What you’ll do:
·      Work as part of a small but nimble production team, collaborating with our Creative, Design and Sales Teams to deliver campaigns for external advertisers.Â
·      Produce TV commercials at various budget levels across motion graphics, animation and small-scale live action formats.
·      Champion creativity and work closely with Creatives and Designers to develop stand-out creative campaigns that get results.
·      Create and manage production budgets and schedules, ensuring jobs are completed on time and to budget.
·      Commission and oversee external animators, graphic designers, editors and production crew.
·      Develop relationships with STV Commercial clients and understand their objectives to ensure a positive customer experience.
·      Ensure content produced answers the client brief and is compliant with legal & regulatory requirements.
·      Provide production support to Producers and Lead Producer on larger scale jobs as and when required.
·      Develop a comprehensive understanding of STV’s products and services in order to strategically champion STV and STV Creative.
·      Embrace new technologies/ creative techniques to the benefit of the team and the work we deliver.
·      Assist in any other aspects of the work of the Company as reasonably required.

What you’ll need:

·      Experience in a similar role in a production company or advertising agency environment.
·      Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues and an ability to judge and adapt to each situation effectively.
·      Experience of pre-production/ production/ post-production processes, including craft roles, facility/ technical requirements, health and safety legislation.
·      Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and work across multiple projects simultaneously.
·      Excellent organisational skills with a highly developed attention to detail and accuracy, including written presentation skills.
·      Demonstrable passion for television, advertising and marketing, and an understanding of changing media landscape and broadcast and digital platforms.
·      Excellent PC and MAC skills.
·      An understanding of BCAP, CAP and Ofcom Codes.
·      Full, clean driver’s licence.
