Our endeavors span film/TV, original digital content, audio, live events, and social media. Originating with the groundbreaking BLACK LOVE docu-series, we’ve evolved to provide a wide spectrum of digital content and live experiences that affirm, educate, and entertain the Black Gen-Z & Millennial audience. 

Job Summary

Black Love is looking for a talented, experienced Social Media Director to lead our growing social media team as well as innovate & grow our social media presence across all channels – (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X (Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, & Pinterest). The role will create and adapt our social media strategy based on analytics and emerging trends and oversee community management. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a team and collaborating with cross-functional partners to execute that strategy by promoting our content across all social channels. This role will both develop and collaborate with Growth Marketing to align high-level strategies and create integrated tactical execution plans across all social channels as part of a larger Marketing plan.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the company’s overall objectives and align with our brand identity
  • Set, own and deliver on clear, measurable goals for growth, engagement, and brand presence.
  • Oversee a team of social media managers, providing direction, mentorship, and support
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., marketing, video) to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach.
  • Work with the marketing team to plan weekly and monthly social content calendar around Black Love events, campaigns, and themes, incorporating relevant UGC
  • Guide the creation and curation of culturally relevant and impactful content that speaks to the Black community, while ensuring consistency in messaging and branding across all platforms.
  • Lead efforts to deepen engagement with our audience, fostering a strong and active online community.
  • Regularly analyze social media performance, monitor SEO and web traffic, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Adapt strategies based on analytics and emerging trends within the Black lifestyle and media space.
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-8 years relevant work experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in managing others
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and growing social media accounts, particularly in lifestyle, culture, or related fields.
  • Strong ownership mentality and are able to figure out things independently
  • Experience in setting and achieving specific targets in audience growth, engagement, and brand presence.
  • Experience in handling audience feedback, managing online discussions, and building brand loyalty.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple projects and team members.
  • Genuine interest & familiarity in communicating about all forms of love and about issues relating to the Black community
  • Proficiency with Canva and/or Photoshop, Sprout Social (or similar scheduling software)
  • Formal education in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is a plus but not mandatory
  • Subscription or Ad-Supported Streaming content marketing a plus

Black Love, Inc. provides a competitive salary range of $100,000 – $120,000, commensurate with experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401k, and flexible PTO. 

We have embraced a hybrid work model, combining the flexibility of remote work with in-person collaboration. As such, we’re looking for candidates based in Los Angeles and willing and able to commute to the office 2-3x/week.

Associate Podcast Producer

The Role

In this role, you will assist the Podcast Producer and Director of Podcasts to produce multiple shows for Black Love, Inc.’s growing award winning podcast network. You should have a background in audio production and digital media. You will be hands-on during all stages of production such as creating rundowns, production meetings, ideating segments, producing talent, post production, and writing show copy. The ideal candidate is an avid podcast, audio streaming and/or radio listener with a passion for Black media & culture.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate podcast studio and remote environment 
  • Field produce remote podcast sessions
  • Ideate discussion topics and create show rundowns
  • Conduct detailed pre-show and guest research for talent
  • Pre-produce elements to be played back during taping sessions
  • Publish completed episodes using podcast distribution CMS

Requirements

  • Ideally 1-3 years of experience in podcasting, audio streaming and/or radio.
  • Ability to produce at least 3-5 podcast episodes weekly.
  • Proficient in audio post-production including mixing and sound design.
  • Proficient in Adobe Audition
  • knowledge of Black media & culture.
  • Willing to work outside of standard work hours when necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thrives in a lively teamwork environment.

Black Love has adopted a hybrid work model for our entire staff. JOB BRIEF

We are looking for a talented Social Media Manager to join the Black Love team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a role with a Black-owned digital media company with an opportunity to cultivate a strong social media presence for a rapidly growing Black love-focused brand. This role reports to the Social Media Director.

We want a self-starter who is both a creative and critical thinker capable of increasing web traffic and customer engagement aligned with our broader marketing strategies and goals. You should be familiar with the language of the digital world and have a major interest in the relationship space/industry. You should be caught up on the latest trends in social media innovation from cutting edge creative content and tech advancements, to exploring new platforms. The ideal candidate has three-plus years of experience working in digital media with an emphasis on driving television/film tune in, event promotion and thought-provoking lifestyle content. You’ll focus on audience growth and social media community management, while contributing to the brand’s editorial voice and presence. You will be integral to the day-to-day operations for all organic social channels including Instagram and Twitter. (Note: the Digital Media Manager manages Facebook & Instagram stories, and implements Facebook strategy.)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create short and long term strategy for reaching Black Love, Inc. digital marketing goals including but not limited to: promoting the Black Love series and BlackLove.com digital content, event announcements and sales, and further establishing Black Love as the premiere destination for all things healthy relationships in the Black community. 
  • Ideates content (visual, video, text) that is optimized for social platforms, specifically Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter.
  • Manage all aspects of social content distribution and community management for Instagram and Twitter and other platforms as necessary.
  • Engage with followers across BLACK LOVE social channels; actively communicating with our audience in a tone that’s consistent with our brand voice.
  • Monitor performance to develop a social strategy that supports audience growth.
  • Analyze performance data and communicate highlights, recommendations, strengths and weaknesses in accordance with a defined action plan.
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, factoring in web traffic and customer engagement. 
  • Research audience behavior and discover social innovations and trends.
  • Attend weekly editorial meetings and contribute data driven insights.
  • Develop a formal UGC program.
  • Develop promotional giveaway strategy.
  • Maintains commanding knowledge of the latest social media trends and best practices.
  • Responsible for social posting on some weekends

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Degree in Marketing or relevant field
