CircEsteem is a 100% in-person work place located in Uptown. This position will require a person to travel around Chicago frequently visiting programs and events to represent and record CircEsteem activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and distribute all external communications for the organization, including promotional

Summary

This Public Relations Manager position will have a primary focus on the firm’s largest practice group – Corporate & Finance. This includes a number of different practice areas including M&A, Capital Markets, Private Equity. The role will also focus on profile for a number of our Americas office, in particular the profile for the Washington D.C. office in the D.C. market, one of the firm’s headquarters. They will also take responsibility for PR for a couple of our key sectors in the U.S. – Life Sciences & Healthcare, and Sports, Media & Entertainment.

This position is in the global PR team, which operates as a single team, and is part of the global Corporate Communications team, which is part of the global Marketing & Business Development (M&BD) team. The direct reporting line for the role is to the Americas Public Relations Senior Manager, who is based in New York and who in turn reports to the Head of Communications. The PR Manager will have some support from the firm’s PR Coordinator, also based in Washington, and our PR Specialist based in Louisville, Kentucky. The U.S. PR team also has a significant amount of support from a PR agency.

OBJECTIVES

  • Develop the profile of the Corporate & Finance practice – this includes M&A, Private Equity, Capital Markets, Real Estate, REITs, Tax and Pensions. The firm is known in the market for some of the largest deals and a reasonable portion of the Manager’s time will be focused on drafting deals releases and getting profile for our transactions team.
  • Develop the profile of the firm’s Washington D.C. office, with local D.C. press and stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for profile raising for a number of our key sectors in the U.S. – Life Sciences & Healthcare, and Sports, Media & Entertainment.
  • Develop the profile of a number of our other offices in the Americas – we have 14 offices in the U.S, and the PR team each take responsibility for building a relationship with different offices.

Job Description

  • Take responsibility for profile raising for the firm’s Corporate & Finance practice, Washington D.C. office, Life Sciences & Healthcare and Sports, Media & Entertainment sectors, and a couple of other Americas offices (e.g. Northern Virginia, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Denver)
  • Work closely with M&BD colleagues in relevant practice groups/sectors and around the world on developing and supporting profile raising.
  • Support the firm’s lateral hire announcements, particularly for Corporate & Finance in the U.S.
  • Support other firmwide announcements e.g. promotions, financial results, etc – these larger communications projects are shared amongst the global PR team.
  • Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders – partners, MBD team, management, People team, Knowledge team, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong relationships with local, national, and trade press, and implement a media contacts program for relevant practices/sectors – help them and other spokespeople build and maintain relationships, and prepare them for interviews.
  • Identify potential news, topics, and comment opportunities. Responsible for driving the quantity and quality of media coverage for the firm and the region.
  • Draft and distribute briefing notes and press releases, set up journalist round tables and briefings, and commission articles (and write/edit articles when required).
  • Work with other M&BD colleagues in managing the quality of and preparing submissions for awards entries – these are mostly managed by our PR Specialist in Louisville but the PR Manager will be involved in sometimes reviewing entries or coordinating ideas for entry.
  • Act as an ambassador of the firm, and of the communications team, both internally and externally.
  • Develop, contribute to, and oversee production of marketing communications materials relevant to PR activities both regionally and industry-focused.
  • Work alongside other members of the M&BD team to monitor competitor activity and brief stakeholders on profile raising activities of competitors.
  • Report on PR activity to practice area heads, M&BD team, and Americas Public Relations Senior Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Americas Public Relations Senior Manager and PR Coordinator in Washington on PR agency support – including supporting the agency with identify key topics, partners to work with, target publications, setting them KPIs, and ensuring we have high quality and regular reporting.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Educate the partnership in media relations best practice and deliver in-house media relations training to lawyers as and when required.
  • Deputize for the Americas Public Relations Senior Manager when required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 4-5 years of public relations experience required.
  • Law firm experience a bonus. PR agency and journalism background a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent relationships with relevant journalists.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Proactive approach to media relations, utilizing strategy, planning, and execution skills.
  • Proven sound judgment for media relations issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Effective interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

Media Relations

The Manager, Digital Media for Alchemee (including the Proactiv brand) will be responsible for developing, implementing, analyzing, reporting and optimizing the paid digital media plans in the US and Canada. This analytical leader will leverage multiple digital channels including paid search (e.g. Google, Bing), programmatic display, social media (eg Meta, TikTok, Pinterest) to drive full funnel campaigns at scale. Essential Functions

Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • BS/BA degree in marketing, communications or related field, required
  • 5-8 years of digital media planning/buying experience, with extensive experience in paid social and programmatic, is required
  • Thorough understanding of Direct Response digital marketing, with expert knowledge of optimization tactics, and KPI management for online/digital media
  • Ample experience managing external agencies
  • Creative thinker with the ability and passion for understanding the customers needs and delivering them through the entire acquisition funnel
  • Deep understanding of both multi-touch attribution and A/B testing models and how to optimize channels for best results.
  • Thorough understanding of marketing technology (tools & tech) including analytic packages, DMP’s, Ad Servers, search platforms and data onboarding solutions. (Visual IQ experience a bonus)

SUMMARY

The objective of this position is to strategically develop and implement an aggressive plan that will provide contacts, partnership funds, corporate linkages and major resources to support the Association. The Director of Communications is to provide leadership, team and financial support to all programs, activities and departments by providing both short and long term goals that lend support to the entire Association. PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS The Director of Communications has a primary working relationship with the Chief Operating Officer.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements the development of a comprehensive marketing plan that meets Association goals.
  • Responsible for all external communications that enhance the image and successfulness of the Association.
  • Ensures that the public relations of the Association are addressed through high visibility means and positive results orientated measures.
  • To fully leverage development, marketing, and public relation activities by connecting the dots of all highly relevant entities.
  • Implement a plan that enhances the perception of the Association by telling our story through major vehicles with wide distribution.
  • Ensures the attainment of resources through viable contacts, collaboratives, external campaigns, major gifts and program incentives.
  • Manages the Communications Department and staff, including responsibilities for overall success of department and attainment of goals.
  • Plans and implements an advocacy program that addresses the concern of the LAUL, our participants and the public at large. Major involvement with any political figure or agency that promotes our mission.
  • To develop linkages locally, statewide, and federal that will promote the Association and produce positive and profitable results.
  • To promote the mission, image, philosophy and branding of the Association that results in immediate and positive recognition.
  • Responsible for Association newsletter development, direction and distribution.
  • Ensures the LAUL website is current and effective.
  • Plans and supervises media presentations, exposure, projects and all public contact.
  • Responsible for the development and distribution of Annual Report.
  • Ensures that SEO is utilized to place the LAUL in best posture for any subject related to current programs.
  • Provides the direct supervision of regular, consultant and contract staff, monitoring progress of internal and external assignments.
  • Assist in the engagement of the Board of Directors as fundraisers, providing input and training as needed.
  • Develops and implements activities associated with any comprehensive fund-raising program, in conjunction with the COO.
  • Responsible for media website that promotes Association image.
  • Seeks support of Association needs, ensuring no duplication of efforts.
  • Plans and implements recognition system for major donors.
  • Functions as assigned staff on committees of the Board of Directors and other volunteer groups as assigned.
  • Develops and maintains working relations with key members of the philanthropic community and appropriate community groups, organizations, as appropriate to defined duties and goals.
  • Submits narrative and statistical reports to COO as required and as requested.
  • Participates in Association meetings and activities as required.
  • Ensures the accurate maintenance of records and files to support the Communications Department.
  • Functions as a productive member of the Management Team.
  • Participates in the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures for the Association, with direct responsibility for drafting those procedures relating to the Development Department.

SECONDARY DUTIES

  • Upon delegation from the COO represents and speaks for the Association.
  • Provides coverage in the event of absences or emergencies within the ranks of the Communication and Fund Development Department teams.
  • When delegated, provides administrative backup to the COO.
  • Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or BA from accredited college or university.
  • Masters (MSW, M.Ed, MA) preferred
  • Five years of progressively responsible and successful experience in managing development programs in non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in Board/volunteer relations and staff management.
  • Demonstrated short and long term planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
  • Knowledge of computer programs including Word, Access, Excel, MS Publisher and donor based software.

SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of donor cultivation, solicitation and recognition techniques.
  • Demonstrated understanding and internalization of fundraising ethics.
  • Ability to formulate written case statements and proposals for funding. Ensuring grants and collaborative projects are successful.
