Star Wars stunt double is left fighting for her life after a freak accident on set leaves her in a coma.
A Star Wars stunt double is fighter for her life after being caught in a freak accident on set of another movie.
Olivia Jackson, who is only 32 years-old, has been placed in an induced coma after crashing into a metal camera arm while shooting a motorbike chase scene. The stunt double was filming the scene at high speed and not wearing a helmet of protective clothing, according to reports by the Daily Mirror.
Olivia Jackson, who appears in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, suffered severe head injuries and a punctured lung.
Jackson was working on the upcoming sci-fi movie Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“She’s my inspiration and my world and one tuff little motherf*****. She’s fighting hard,” her husband David Grant, also a stuntman, wrote on Facebook.
Jackson, who was born in South Africa and lives in England, has been part of the film industry for years. And apparently, the stunt was not that dangerous.
“It wasn’t a very dangerous stunt. She was riding a motorbike in a straight line but due to the scene she had no protective gear or helmet,” a source told The Sun.
“There is a metal arm which carries the camera along. But it malfunctioned and didn’t lift up. It was totally out of her control. She had no chance.”
Olivia Jackson’s mother-in-law Janet Lyons called the situation “traumatic.”
“We’re waiting for Livvy to come out of theatre.”
Olivia Jackson has been a stunt double for several actresses including Gwyneth Paltrow in Mortdecai and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Mad Max:Fury Road.
