The very first footage from the upcoming Sony Marvel film ‘Venom 2’ was just released.
The footage shows the character Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage. The photo was shown by Tom Hardy through his Instagram, however, the post was later removed.
The photo is blurry but shows Woody Harrelson from ‘True Detective’ and ‘Zombieland’ in costume as the eccentric Cletus Kasady, the villain Carnage. The photo shows Cletus wearing a Hawaiian pattern shirt, which accents his personality. If you can remember, a teaser to the start of Carnage was shown at the post-credits to ‘Venom’ where Tom Hardy’s character Eddie Brock visits a maximum-security prison to interview Kasady, where he says “When I get outta here, and I will… there’s gonna be carnage.” View the clip below.
In the comics, Carnage is a symbiotic adapting the Venom offspring during a prison break. The symbiotic virus infects Cletus, thus referring himself as “I” instead of “we” which is how Venom and Eddie Brock coexist. Carnage made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #361 in 1992. Carnage was a huge hit for fans. His behavior and menacing attacks were major threats to Spider-Man and New York City.
Details for the new ‘Venom 2’ movie have not been released. Except the director is to be Andy Serkis who was an actor in ‘Planet of the Apes’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’. The expected premiere is in October 2020.
