“Suicide Squad 2” is headed to Atlanta!
According to Deadline, Gunn is hoping to start production on The Suicide Squad this September in Atlanta. This would give the sequel to “Suicide Squad” movie two years to complete filming and post-production. Considering Gunn has filmed each “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie in the same amount of time, with the last “Guardians” film filming in Pinewood Atlanta Studios.
This news comes after a Variety report that says Will Smith has dropped out of the upcoming James Gunn-directed “Suicide Squad” sequel.
In the exclusive report, Smith, who played Headshot, will not be joining Warner Bros.’ upcoming sequel, claiming scheduling conflicts as the reason. The result was an amicable separation on both sides with no hard feelings, the report explains. None of the other original cast members have been confirmed as of yet; however, Warner Bros. is reportedly hoping the film’s biggest stars from the first movie will return, including Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn.
James Gunn will be directing and writing the sequel and is reportedly hoping to begin production on the sequel this fall in Atlanta, Georgia. Suicide Squad 2 is tentatively scheduled for an August 6, 2021 release.
Will Smith is currently filming “Bad Boys For Life” in Atlanta, Georgia.
