Looking for a Job? ‘Star Wars’ is Now Hiring

Date:

Star Wars Jobs – Lucasfilm is now hiring a ton of jobs to work on Star Wars and several other motion pictures, books, and TV shows.

Lucasfilm is a film and TV production company based in San Francisco, California. The studio is best known for creating the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, as well as being the leading developer for special effects and computer animation.

Founded by filmmaker George Lucas in 1971, most of the company’s operations moved to San Francisco in 2005. Since then, the Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4.06 billion.

Lucasfilm’s company structure has several different fields.

  • Industrial Light & Magic — visual effects
  • Skywalker Sound — post-production sound design
  • LucasArts Entertainment Company, LLC – video games
  • Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. LLC — animation
    • Lucasfilm Animation Singapore
  • Lucas Licensing — licensing and merchandising
    • Lucas Books
  • Lucas Online — websites
  • Lucasfilm Story Group

Kathleen Kennedy, co-chairman of Lucasfilm, became president of Lucasfilm, reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. She also serves as the brand manager for Star Wars, working directly with Disney’s global lines of business to build, further integrate, and maximize the value of this global franchise. Kennedy serves as a producer on new Star Wars feature films, with George Lucas originally announced as serving as a creative consultant.

Under the deal, Disney acquired ownership of Star Wars and Lucasfilm’s operating businesses in live-action film production, consumer products, video games, animation, visual effects, and audio post-production.

LucasFilm’s latest movie, Star Wars: Episode VII, was a box office monster. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the highest-grossing movie in the world, with over a billion-dollar in ticket sales alone. Since the Disney acquisition, Lucasfilm is creating a new Star Wars movie every year with plans on several spinoffs, reboots, and prequels. Also, there are rampant rumors that a new Indiana Jones movie is coming soon.

Lucasfilm is now hiring a ton of job opportunities for aspiring filmmakers, animators, and creative talents. On their website, Lucasfilm says:

We’re in the business of telling great stories and making magic. We produce cool films, video games, television programming, and the ultimate theme park ride experiences. We create amazing visual effects and sound design. We market, distribute, and license our products and services around the world. We’re continuing to push the envelope and work with the best talent in the industry.

The Lucas companies include Lucasfilm, Lucasfilm Animation, Industrial Light & Magic, Skywalker Sound, and ILMxLab. Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm Animation are located in San Francisco’s historic Presidio National Park. Industrial Light & Magic has Studios in San Francisco (also in the Presidio), Singapore, Vancouver, and London. ILMxLab was recently announced and will be initially based at LDAC in San Francisco. Skywalker Sound is located just north of San Francisco in the hills of Marin County.
