Check out these 4 Stories Hollywood Cannot Stop Remaking
Hollywood has a tendency to make and remake the same story line to a movie several times. But, recently as Cracked pointed out there are some stories that should be left alone at least for a couple of years.
#4 Peter Pan
Currently, there are three Peter Pans in development. It has been over a decade since the last Peter Pan feature film. What does Hollywood do? Plans three different Peter Pan remakes. It was recently announced that the director of Atonement and Pride and Prejudice will be working on the new Warner Bros. feature film, Peter Pan. But, Warner Bros. is not alone as Sony, has been trying to cast Channing Tatum to play Peter Pan. The Sony version tentative title, Peter Pan Begins.Â
#3 Wizard of Oz
Since the 1939 and the MGM Classic, The Wizard of OZ, Hollywood has tried to remake the success of the 1939 hit. Now, the world of television plans on creating four different TV series surrounding The Wizard of Oz. Syfy’s ‘Warriors of Oz’ is a story centerd on a post-apocalyptic Oz. The CW’s ‘Dorothy Must Die’ is about Dorothy as an evil dictator over Oz. CBS’ Dorothy is a New York medical drama? and NBC’s new series ‘Emerald City’ is called a dark version of the Wizard of Oz.
That is 4 different shows surrounding the same basic idea. I guess creativity only comes in bunches.
#2 Tarzan
It is expected that after the release of Tarzan production will begin for a new Tarzan. Several A-list actors have been approached to join the cast and crew of the upcoming Tarzan movie, which is scheduled to begin filming next summer. But, this comes after a recent release for a cartoon version of Tarzan. The trailer for Tarzan features him fighting helicopters and fighting meteors. I guess after every cartoon version Hollywood should follow up with a live action version.
#1 Hercules
There are two big-budge Hercules remake movies coming out next year. Including Hercules starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson , and Hercules: The Legend Begins, starring Kellan Lutz. Lutz’s version of Herclues will be hitting theaters in February 2014. That is only five months before Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules is released in July.
