Robert Downey Jr. is officially set to headline Paramount’s remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic film, ‘Vertigo.’
Paramount Pictures is reviving a timeless classic through an exciting remake. Exciting news – the studio has now secured the rights to recreate Alfred Hitchcock’s renowned and timeless psychological thriller, Vertigo, released in 1959. Marvel’s Robert Downey Jr. is the current front-runner to play the leading role in the upcoming film. Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey, are joining forces with their production company, Team Downey, John Davis of Davis Entertainment, alongside John Fox to produce the movie project.
Variety recently reported that no other than Steven Knight of Peaky Blinders fame is writing the script for an upcoming project, fresh off having penned a highly-anticipated Star Wars film. After gracing the silver screen for his final Marvel performance in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. has remained relatively low. Later this summer, Robert Downey Jr. will grace the silver screen in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming cinematic masterpiece Oppenheimer.
James Stewart brilliantly portrayed the lead role of John “Scottie” Ferguson in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic Vertigo. Ferguson, a San Francisco police detective, is forced to retire abruptly when his vertigo worsens into an incapacitating fear of heights. The story follows him as he navigates this new reality. Trailing an acquaintance’s wife, Ferguson is confronted with the limits of his vertigo in this thrilling narrative. Anticipation is high for the remake of this beloved classic, with hopes that it will do justice to Hitchcock and bring his story into the 21st century.
