After the horrible death of Paul Walker in November of 2013, the future of Universal’s ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise was in limbo and remained very much in the air.
At the time of Paul Walker’s tragic death, the movie was only halfway completed and had a summer 2014 release. Universal then decided to finish the movie with director James Wan and the original cast but, chose to move the release date to a later release, April 10, 2015.
Now The Hollywood Reporter reports that the production will resume filming this April.
The sequel which was a major hit with “Furious 6” will include original cast members such as Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Ludacris, and Michelle Rodriguez. In ‘Fast and Furious 7’ producers added Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Tony Jaa, and Djimon Hounsou. Plans are still scheduled for the movie to “retire” Paul Walker’s character instead of killing him in the feature film. It is very clear that the director and writer of ‘Fast and Furious 7’ were working on the perfect way for the movie to include Paul Walker into the movie.
It is very unclear and unknown how the new changes will affect the storyline of the movie. But, when the movie resumes production, it will be in Atlanta. Hopefully, Wan will be able to continue the great franchise of ‘Fast and Furious’ while also remembering an important character/actor in the series.
