Fantastic Four ruined this actor’s movie career.
The drama for the superhero drama seems like it’s getting worse and worse. After the reported $60 million loss for Fox, a public dispute between the cast and the director, and drop in the number of acting jobs for Toby Kebbell, Fantastic Four just looks like it’s cursed.
Fox was still planning on creating a sequel as the movie was bombing in theaters, reports suggest that they have finally removed Fantastic Four 2 from their release schedule, revealing the news Monday evening – with no report on when or if they will ever make another Fantastic Four movie.
Fox currently holds the Fantastic Four rights until 2022, so they have time to decide if they will still go ahead with a delayed sequel or if they will hold off and reboot the franchise just to retain the movie rights.
But, there is so much drama behind the scenes that it begs the question, why should Fox actually remake the franchise.
In Hollywood, one bad movie can ruin an actor’s movie career and Fantastic Four was the staple for a Box Office movie bomb. If there was a class on box office flops, Fantastic Four would be the introduction, chapter 1, and final exam for a box office disappoint. But, one actor is struggling to find his next acting job after Fantastic Four. For instance, Toby Kebbell, the actor who played Doctor Doom, revealed that the number of acting jobs have stopped because he appeared in Fantastic Four.
“A film like that comes out, and I’m being sent maybe four scripts in a week, and those scripts go to zero when it doesn’t come out successful, so that actively affects my career. I think it’s vitally important that if there’s a problem on set, that it’s voiced and we solve it there and I think that collaboration is very important. Not to say that didn’t happen on set, but the collaboration is vital and if we don’t do that, then we suffer.”
And that sucks. Hopefully, his next movie, World of Warcraft the Movie, rebounds the actor’s career.
