Earlier this year, we broke the news that Donald Glover was working on an animated Deadpool series for Marvel in Georgia. Since then, we have heard nothing about it, until now— and the latest news leaves the fate of the show in development hell.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Glover, his brother Stephen, who were both set to write and co-executive produce the show, and FX have all exited the project, which was supposed to be an adult-focused action-comedy series and has already been ordered for a 10-episode series to air on FXX.
From FX:
Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series. FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue.
The future of the show is still up in the air right now. However, there is always a chance Marvel could bring it to Disney’s upcoming streaming service, joining the New Warriors show.
