The Email & SMS Marketing Manager is responsible for the overall email and sms marketing strategy and execution from beginning to end for each campaign to ensure proper segmentation, journey-creation, technical QA, deployment, and post-deployment checks. This role also plays a critical part in customer retention and will own the development, deployment, and reporting processes for our retention program.
Job Duties
· Develop the email, sms and push marketing strategy with the goal of driving new subscribers, reach, and engagement through these channels, cultivating relationships and sales and preventing churn.
· Strategically meet or exceed aggressive targets for top line growth.
· Manage segmentation, content messaging strategy and cadence to deploy weekly & ad hoc emails, SMS and push messages that drive customer purchasing behavior.
· Write creative briefs that include key business objectives, expected results, and important messaging callouts to inspire copywriting and design teams in their creation of email and SMS assets.
· Build and manage triggered email & SMS campaigns throughout the customer lifecycle to maximize sales and customer engagement.
· Develop a testing strategy (A/B and multivariate tests) alongside the team to continually optimize all areas of the programs, including identifying moments to better understand our customer segments and their lifecycle and behaviors across multiple channels.
· Create and implement personalization roadmap.
· Define measurable metrics and regularly review campaigns against strategic objectives.
· Plan and run A/B tests within Email and SMS to improve growth and retention and to optimize channel messaging.
· Share and apply customer insights cross-functionally with site, product, customer experience and ops teams to create a best-in-class user journey.
· Continually monitor and analyze KPIs; identifying trends, problems, opportunities, and shifts in behavior while iterating on existing campaigns to optimize each for maximum performance.
· Create reporting dashboards and custom reports analyzing campaign performance in order to provide actionable recommendations and deliver continuous improvements.
· Champion continuous advancement of our CRM features and capabilities through identifying emerging technology and leveraging new tools & industry best practices to be a leader in email marketing.
· Manage partnerships with vendors and ensure they are working towards the same vision and goals for us this year.
· Stay current with best practices, limitations, strategies, and industry standards related to database marketing.
· Keep abreast of market, consumer trends and competition.
· Ensure legal compliance (Can-SPAM, Canada restrictions).
· Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
· Strong problem-solving skills, as well as good planning, time management and organizational proficiencies.
· A minimum of 7+ years of experience and proven success with leveraging customer LTV segments to build audiences and to optimize spend, writing and editing curated content according to a publishing calendar, leading teams and working well across many multi-disciplinary teams, E-commerce fashion/apparel retail, digital marketing, analytics, reporting, forecasting, and marketing automation.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent creative writing skills.
· Successful track record with leading an online marketing team, mentoring, professional development, and succession planning.
· Skilled with numbers/data (budgets, trend analysis, performance measurement and management).
· Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, plus Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
· Experience with relevant software platforms (Acoustic, Interaction Studio/Evergage, Attentive, Airship).
· Familiarity with various web analytic platforms (Google Analytics, OWAPro) and the ability to generate custom reports. Experience with Qlik is a plus.
· Ability to deliver reports and presentations to executives and other non-SME audiences in a clear and concise manner.
· Proven history of driving results and exceeding expectations aligned with overall department and organizational goals.
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, or related filed, and a minimum of 7+ years of related experience, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience leading teams
