Here’s the story behind Mark Wahlberg’s troubled past and how he has tried to make up for it in the last five years.
Before starring in ‘Transformers’ and kicking butt in ‘Pain and Gain‘ Mark Wahlberg was a troubled kid with a troubled past. Few people may know this but, prior becoming a Hollywood success Mark Wahlberg was charged with a hate crime after severely beating up two Vietnamese men in 1989.

Mark Wahlberg has been in trouble at least 20 t0 25 times with the Boston Police Department when he was a kid. By 13, Mark Wahlberg had developed an addiction to cocaine and other drugs. At 15, a civil action was filed against Mark Wahlberg for his involvement in two separate incidents of harassing African American children, by throwing rocks and showing racial slurs. At 16, Mark Wahlberg approached a Vietnamese man named Than Lam on the street and, using a large wooden stick, knocked him unconscious while calling him “Vietnam fucking shit.” The same day Mark Wahlberg also attacked another Vietnamese man named Hoa “Johnny” Trinh, punching him in the face. Mark Wahlberg left his victim permanently blind in one eye.
According to court documents regarding these crimes, when Wahlberg was arrested later that night and returned to the scene of the first assault, he stated to police officers: “You don’t have to let him identify me, I’ll tell you now that’s the mother-fucker who’s (sic) head I split open.” Investigators also noted that Wahlberg “made numerous unsolicited racial statements about ‘gooks’ and ‘slant-eyed gooks’.”
Mark Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to two years in Suffolk County Dear Island House of Correction. He ultimately only served 45 days of his sentence. In another, incident 21-year-old Wahlberg fractured the jaw of a neighbor in an unprovoked attack.
Commenting on his previous crimes, Mark Wahlberg said:
“I did a lot of things that I regret, and I have certainly paid for my mistakes.” He said the right thing to do would be to try to find the blinded man and make amends, and admitted he has not done so, but added that he was no longer burdened by guilt: “You have to go and ask for forgiveness and it wasn’t until I really started doing good and doing right by other people, as well as myself, that I really started to feel that guilt go away. So I don’t have a problem going to sleep at night. I feel good when I wake up in the morning.” [ABC News]
After going to prison for assault, he decided to change his life and his behavior. According to Mark Wahlberg, “As soon as I began that life of crime, there was always a voice in my head telling me I was going to end up in jail. Three of my brothers had done time. My sister went to prison so many times I lost count. Finally I was there, locked up with the kind of guys I’d always wanted to be like. Now I’d earned my stripes and I was just like them, and I realized it wasn’t what I wanted at all. I’d ended up in the worst place I could possibly imagine and I never wanted to go back. First of all, I had to learn to stay on the straight and narrow.”

Wahlberg first relied on the guidance of his parish priest to turn his back on crime. He told his street gang that he was leaving them and had “some serious fights” with them over it. The actor commented in 2009: “I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life and I’ve done bad things, but I never blamed my upbringing for that. I never behaved like a victim so that I would have a convenient reason for victimizing others. Everything I did wrong was my own fault. I was taught the difference between right and wrong at an early age. I take full responsibility.”
Most recently, Mark Wahlberg asked to be pardoned for his previous crimes. But his victims and the prosecutors say it should never happen. “In the 13 years I served in the attorney general’s office, I recall only one instance of a defendant violating a civil rights injunction — Mark Wahlberg,” former prosecutor Judith Beals wrote this week in the Boston Globe.
I’m glad Mark Wahlberg has turned his life around. I’ve read that Hoa Trinh has forgiven him. But a public pardon is an extraordinary public act, requiring extraordinary circumstances because it essentially eliminates all effects of having ever been convicted. It is reserved to those who demonstrate “extraordinary contributions to society,” requiring “extensive service to others performed, in part, as a means of restoring community and making amends.” On this, I am not sold.
First, Wahlberg has never acknowledged the racial nature of his crimes. Even his pardon petition describes his serial pattern of racist violence as a “single episode” that took place while he was “under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.” For a community that continues to confront racism and hate crime, we need acknowledgment and leadership, not denial.
Another woman, Kristyn Atwood, was 9 when Mark Wahlberg and his friends threw rocks at her and her friends’ heads while they were out on a school field trip.
“When people talk about racism in Boston, I always remember that,” Atwood told the Globe.”For him to try to get it overturned and make it seem like it never happened? I don’t think that’s fair.”

‘The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven’ admits that he didn’t actually die and go to heaven.
We currently live in a society where people are making millions of dollars creating “true stories” about going to Heaven or visiting Hell after a near death experience. The blockbuster hit movie, Heaven Is For Real is no exception.
‘The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven’ is a new movie about a boy who had visions after a near death experience. From The Washington Post:
The best-selling book, first published in 2010, describes what Alex experienced while he lay in a coma after a car accident when he was 6 years old. The coma lasted two months, and his injuries left him paralyzed, but the subsequent spiritual memoir — with its assuring description of “Miracles, Angels, and Life beyond This World” — became part of a popular genre of “heavenly tourism,” which has been controversial among orthodox Christians.
The problem with ‘The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven’ is that it’s fake. The father admitted in an open letter shared on the web site Pulpit & Pen, stating that he never died and never went to Heaven:
I said I went to heaven because I thought it would get me attention. When I made the claims that I did, I had never read the Bible. People have profited from lies, and continue to. They should read the Bible, which is enough. The Bible is the only source of truth. Anything written by man cannot be infallible.
It is only through repentance of your sins and a belief in Jesus as the Son of God, who died for your sins (even though he committed none of his own) so that you can be forgiven may you learn of Heaven outside of what is written in the Bible…not by reading a work of man. I want the whole world to know that the Bible is sufficient. Those who market these materials must be called to repent and hold the Bible as enough.
This new revelation has forced the book’s publisher, Tyndale House, to pull it from bookstores and has many Christian bookstores sending their unsold copies back.
This is the reportedly the first time that Alex revealed and spoke out against the claims that were made in his book, but his family hasn’t been as quiet. his mother, Beth Malarkey, has been speaking out against the story on her personal blog since April of 2014:
“It is both puzzling and painful to watch the book ‘The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven’ not only continue to sell, but to continue, for the most part, to not be questioned.” She goes on to say that the book is not “Biblically sound” and that her son’s objections to it were ignored and repressed. She also notes that Alex “has not received monies from the book nor have a majority of his needs been funded by it.” (via)
It is sad that organized religions can be used as an industry to manipulate and profit off of innocent people.

Earlier this week, Governor. Nathan Deal announced plans to increase Georgia’s film industry by creating a Georgia Film Academy.
But, with the rising number of movies and TV shows filming in the Georgia area, producers were faced with a huge problem. There were not enough crew members to work on the hundreds of productions filming in Georgia. After previously mentioning plans to train more skilled workers to work behind-the-scenes as set designers, grips, electricians, and production assistants.
According to WSBTV, during a meeting between representatives for the film and television industry told state officials that they regularly struggle to find crews in Georgia and have to hire staff from other states.
Projects have struggled to find construction crews, grip and electric teams and special effects, especially for television teams facing a deadline of only a few weeks, said Craig McNeil, production executive at NBC’s cable arm Universal Cable Productions. McNeil is midway through shooting the first season of “Satisfaction” in Georgia and said the number of projects shooting simultaneously in the state can make it difficult to fully staff.
Those already working in those areas say the jobs are easy to come by and with a new film academy, more people in the state of Georgia will be able to find a job.
“It’s definitely on the uptick. Everybody is coming here from L.A. Everybody that I work with. There are people that I work with, the decorators and the directors,” said Elaina Winters, a graduate of the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, who has worked on several movie as a set designer.
“It’s the most exciting time in this creative business ever. There’s never been a better time,” said Hank Richardson, Director of Design at Portfolio Center.
“I think it’s phenomenal,” said Portfolio Center graduate, James Harrill, a photographer who’s worked on films in Atlanta.
Most recently, Oprah Winfrey’s movie ‘Selma’ hired well over 1,500 actors, models, and crew members to work on the Academy Award nominated movie. In addition, that movie alone made a $10.3 million impact on the Georgia Film industry.
The movie, nominated for a best-picture and best-song Academy Award, paid more than $5 million in wages to more than 400 Georgia crew members, hired close to 1,500 cast and extras, spent $375,000 on 3,000 hotel room nights, spent $470,000 on wardrobe purchases and maintenance, contract4d $180,000 worth of lumber, hardware and supplies and spent more than $200,000 on catering and food and more than $130,000 on car rentals, the MPAA said.
Currently, Georgia’s filming industry employs 23,000 workers, supports over 77,000 jobs and pays $1.6 billion in wages. With the new film academy expect the film industry to soar in the next few months.

They are looking for seatfillers to participate in the GRAMMY AWARDS MAIN SHOW only and anyone who signs up with multiple accounts or attempts to submit multiple request, will be denied and have all request deleted and not be considered. They suggest that you do not use your phone to submit your request as this normally causes duplicate submissions and will disqualify you so use your computer for this show. USA Network cancels ‘Benched’. The cable network has canceled sitcom Benched, just after one season.
Benched had a rough start since the show started. The show had very low ratings since the Benched premiered in October. USA has been focusing on new TV shows after Burn Notice and Psych go off the air.
Producers ABC Studios are looking for another home for the TV series. Meanwhile, USA network is devoting their time on developing new TV shows.
Benched was created by Michaela Watkins and Damon Jones, and centers around a high-powered corporate lawyer’s fall from grace into the rough-and-tumble world of a public defender. The series stars Eliza Coupe and Jay Harrington.

The cast of Fifty Shades of Grey allegedly can’t stand being near each other.
Fifty Shades of Grey stars can’t stand each other. Although it is not uncommon for actors to hate each other off-screen, but with their amazing acting abilities they make the world believe they are in love. For instance, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey hated each other, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes couldn’t stand working together, and Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling nearly quit working on The Notebook.
Now Fifty Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson hate each other. According to recent reports, the two couples are not getting along.
Their hate for each other is based on the two actors, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, constantly looking awkward and stand-offish around each other in interviews. Nothing steamy to see here.

Jennifer Aniston is in hot water for allegedly using her ex-boyfriend’s death for promotion.
The widow of the man Jennifer Aniston recently described as the first true love of her life criticized the actress for using her late husband as a publicity tool.

“He was my first love — five years we were together,” Aniston recently said of Daniel McDonald, who passed away from brain cancer in 2007. “He would have been the one! But I was 25, and I was stupid.” McDonald would later go on to marry actress and filmmaker Mujah Muraini-Melehi after his relationship with Jennifer Aniston ended.
However McDonald’s widow was not happy with the fact that Jennifer Aniston is using his name in interviews. Muraini-Melehi posted about the incident on her Facebook Page.
Mujah told Inside Edition, “Daniel and Jennifer had a relationship over 20 years ago, when they were both still very young. She made a life choice, but so did he. I am sorry that Jennifer did not realize the treasure that was Daniel when she had the chance, long before he and I met and long before he died. It pains me to read the headlines that allude to her losing him tragically when in fact she was not present during his long and difficult illness. Perhaps Daniel’s gift was to teach her how to love, and to appreciate what she has with Justin Theroux.”
“After Daniel died, I reached out to her to give her back all the photographs from the time they were together,” she wrote. I never got an answer back from her.”

An award-winning production company is searching for live-in trophy boyfriends and the affluent, older women they’re dating for an exciting new real-life series all about relationship dynamics in a changing socio-economic landscape. We plan to follow several couples who work outside of the confines of typical relationship structures – in this case – an older woman and her younger, kept man.
We are especially interested in hearing from people who relish an upscale and/or uninhibited lifestyle who are not afraid to live big within their relationship. What sent you down this path? How do you think your friends and family will react when/if they find out about this breach in the status quo?
This is a non-union, independent narrative short film. The short is about a guilt-ridden woman with a paper bag over her head who attempts to seduce a gay teacher.

‘Halt and Catch Fire’ Season 2 is looking for production crew types in Atlanta, Georgia.
Casting directors are looking for actors, models, and talent to play production types and crew members. Keep in mind the show takes place in 1985, and producers are looking for talents that can fit in that time period.
Halt and Catch Fire centers around one year after IBM all but corners the market with the release of its first major product – the IBM PC. In this fictional drama, a former IBM executive, Joe MacMillan (Lee Pace) plans to reverse engineer the flagship product of his former employer and forces his current company, Cardiff Electric, into the personal computer race.
