The Big Bang Theory is No Longer the Most Popular Show on Network TV

0

‘The Big Bang Theory’ is no longer the most popular show on network TV.

This is probably a really big deal. ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is still the second highest rated TV show in the key demographic, and it’s most recent episode was watched by 16 million viewers, which is actually down two million from three weeks prior.

However, ‘Empire’ has surged in the ratings in the key demographic of 18-49 year olds beating out ‘The Big Bang Theory’. This will be an extremely big deal for the cast members of ‘Empire’. Currently, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ cast members earn at least $1 million per episode.

Now, that ‘Empire’ is the most popular show on network TV, expect Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard the highest paid actors on TV in the next few months.

Steven Yeun Reveals What We Can Expect on ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6

0

Season 5 of ‘The Walking Dead’ maybe over but, Steven Yeun still has a lot to say about the hit TV series that launched his career. In a recent interview with Variety, Yeun explained how he defines his character and what it is like working with talented actors.

Yeun points out that his acting has changed over the years and he has learned a lot from his cast especially Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln.

You’ve talked a lot about how much you’ve grown as an actor on this show, and when I talked to Tovah Feldshuh about her first episode with Deanna’s video interviews, shesingled out your performance for praise. How does it feel when someone who’s been a working actor as long as Tovah says something like that about you?
I can’t say that I don’t have that laminated, highlighted and blown up billboard size and just plastered on my wall in the office. I can’t say that. She’s incredible, Tovah is incredible. It’s hard to jack-in to the tone of our show — it can go to really grounded and real or it can go slightly surreal. You have all these places it can go. Tovah came in and literally crushed it. For me to even be acknowledged by someone like Tovah is incredibly generous on her part and absolutely awesome.

I’ve been very fortunate to be surrounded by actors such as Tovah or Andy (Lincoln) or Norman (Reedus) or Jon (Bernthal) or Scott Wilson. I can name every single person. It’s been great because they’ve pushed me a lot and been great examples of doing things for the art of it. We’re doing what we’re doing because on a selfish level we want to experience these moments. The reason I love being an actor is because I get to do stuff I’d never get to do in real life. I get to be a forever student. To say I get to pretend I live in a post-apocalyptic world and I see someone ripped to shreds in front of me or say I’m a rabid animal and maybe I was away from civilization for too long — these small moments are what we live for and have so much fun doing.

Yeun even addresses the persistent rumors that his character, Glenn will be the next character killed off in the series.

I did have a lot of people say, “Hey, stop holding bats.” [laughs] At the same time I struggle with that. I always struggle with the fact that sometimes people can let the death part of our show overtake what we’re actually trying to do. The bat reference comes from the comicbooks, but we’re not the comicbooks, we’re making a show. That’s not to say that we’re not holding true or heavily influenced by the source material, which is fantastic, and Scott Gimple definitely holds firm to as much as he can, but at the same time we are making something different in a different medium. You know what it is? I wish people could binge watch our show, as opposed to waiting week by week. I often feel that’s the reason people are pulled into this weird vortex of “Who’s gonna die next?” As opposed to just, “Let me watch this story for what it’s trying to say.”

Steven Yeun has come a long way from aspiring to become a physician to a zombie killing husband. But, it is interesting to see his perspective of the show and the future of ‘The Walking Dead’. When asked about the new spinoff, ‘Fear The Walking Dead‘, he revealed “my focus is less on that whole big picture and more on how do we make our show better every single year?”

RATINGS: AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ Sets New Finale Records

0

A ton of people watched ‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 finale last night breaking a ton of new records.

AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has wrapped its highest rated season yet Sunday with record setting numbers, including drawing more than 4 times as many viewers in comparison to ABC’s ‘Secrets and Lies’.

From Variety:

According to preliminary Nielsen estimates, the 90-minute season-ender of “Walking Dead” averaged an 8.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.8 million viewers overall — up 3% in both vs. its year-ago finale. This ties as the second highest demo rating and is the third largest overall viewership total in the show’s 70-episode history.

By comparison, the hottest new show of this season — Fox’s “Empire” — wrapped earlier this month with a lower demo rating (6.9) but more total viewers (17.62 million).

‘The Walking Dead’ had six times as many viewers as the top-rated broadcast program in the 9 o’clock hour beating ABC’s ‘Secrets and Lies’ and Fox’s ‘The Last Man on Earth’.

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5 Finale: 4 Things You Missed

0

Four things you missed on ‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 finale and what to expect in season 6 of ‘The Walking Dead’

Season 5 of ‘The Walking Dead’ is finally over and it’s 90 minute finale has came and went.

The final episode was long and included a lot of different details about each and every character. We saw the bloody aftermath of the Rick vs. Pete fight, a man hunt against Glenn, and the misadventures of Daryl and Aaron. In addition, Morgan kicked some serious butt with his new found jedi skills.

But, before you say the episode didn’t reveal too much or didn’t have that much character development. Here are 4 things you probably missed in ‘The Walking Dead’ season finale, “Conquer”:

Red-Poncho

1. Little Red Riding Hood

Early in the episode, Aaron and Rick spot a potential new recruit for Alexandria. The guy seems like he could become a valuable asset to the group but, minutes later the new possible recruit was killed off. The use of the red poncho was really clever, because he is eventually killed at the hands of the Wolves, but unlike the child fairytale, The Little Red Riding Hood is killed.

2. The Walking Dead foreshadowed the final scene

melissa-mcbride-lg

The final scene was really intense. Deanna losing her husband Reg when a crazed Pete sought revenge on Rick but, the episode was actually foreshadowed in a conversation between Rick, Glenn, Abraham, Michonne and Rick after Rick wakes up from last episode’s fight. When talking about not having guns, Carol responds, “we still have knives, that’s all we’ll need against them.”

In addition, when Rick suggested a plan he says “If we can’t get through we take the three of them and say we’ll slit their throats”.

In weird twist it was actually Reg who ended up with his throat slit, and even more interestingly it was at the hands of Michonne’s katana.

3. There was symoblism for the city Alexandria throughout the episode

The Walking Dead

If you weren’t watching closely, then you probably missed this piece of symbolism. When Michonne is sheathing her katana and placing it back over the mantel, there is a ferris wheel artwork in the background. According to Redditor siahbabedblsiah, the octagons symbolize rebirth or transition, a symbol for a community that is about to embark on a complete transition and rebirth as Rick’s group takes over and Alexandrian’s are forced to adapt to this new life.

4. Rick and Morgan have switched places

the-walking-dead-episode-516-morgan-james-video-590-nologo

The last time Rick saw Morgan, Morgan was completely insane in a house full of booby traps. However, now Morgan looks completely sane, while Rick is the one covered in blood, barely holding on to his sanity.

After Morgan revealed how every life is precious, and then sees his friend execute a man in front of half the town, it is interesting to see how that it is all going to pan out.

What to expect in Season 6?

The Walking Dead

It will most likely be expensive and even bigger than season 5.

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd spoke to Entertainment Weekly before the Season 5 finale and dropped several of hints as to what fans can look forward to in the fall.

While Hurd didn’t reveal any plot details for Season 6, she did say that “The Walking Dead” writers have already “pitched out eight episodes.” If the series maintains its 16 episode order for next year, that means that the writers already have an idea of where the characters will be leading up to the midseason finale in December.

“It is going to be quite the rollercoaster,” she teased. But that’s not the juiciest part of her Season 6 scoop. Hurd added that the show’s line producer, Tom Luce, has been “pulling out his hair” over the episode pitches.

Why should Luce’s hair pulling/ anxiety mean anything to “Walking Dead” fans? A line producer’s job is to manage the budget of the show. This means that the series will either be introducing more new characters – which will add expenses due to more people on payroll. Or it could be a hint that fans should expect more over the top action and special effects.

American Apparel Controversial Casting Call Seeks “Real Models” Not “Instagram Thots”

American Apparel Controversial Casting Call looks for “real models” and not “Instagram Hoes”

American Apparel is in hot water after a controversial casting hit the Internet last week. According to reports, American Apparel posted a casting call looking for “real models,” not “Instagram THOTs”.

From NYPost:

“[The] company is going through a rebranding image, so we will be shooting models moving forward,” LA casting agent Phira Luon wrote in the leaked March 18 e-mail, obtained by The Post.

“Real models. Not Instagram hoes or THOTs,” she added, using an acronym for “That ‘ho’ over there.”

Luon later apologized for the “Instagram hoes” comment, saying it “was just an inappropriate, off-color joke that was not intended to defame the client’s name or philosophy/views in any way.”

A spokesperson from American Apparel also released a statement through the Huffington Post.

“It’s just completely false that American Apparel is only using professional models, and we have had and continue to have public casting calls on our calendar.

We continue to look for diverse models of all sizes and backgrounds that look great in our clothes, and these open casting calls play a key role. Suggestions to the contrary are the result of an email written by a non-American Apparel employee that does not reflect our company’s beliefs in any way, and they have since apologized for writing it.”

Cosmopolitan U.K. also noted that the company has had a court case ruling made against them for including underage models in their sexualized ad campaigns. The brand also announced earlier this week that they will airbrush nipples and pubic hair from the images on their website.

American Apparel were previously known to use ‘real women’ in their advertisements and promos, accepting model submissions, with their own website stating:

‘We find our models all over the world, through online submissions, word of mouth, and in retail stores, where we’ve been known to do an impromptu test shoot or two. Our ads have always been indicative of a time and place in American Apparel’s identity, which has evolved into a 12,000 employee worldwide collaboration.’

American Apparel is known often times for their sexually charged ads and constant use of underage, amateur models. But, this latest casting call seems to have crossed the line.
