How Dave Chappelle Nearly Landed a Role on ‘Clueless’

How Dave Chappelle nearly landed but later lost a lead role on ‘Clueless’

Before Dave Chappelle made it big as a stand-up comedian and creating the ‘Chappelle Show’, Dave Chappelle was a struggling actor and apparently, he nearly landed a role on the hit movie ‘Clueless’.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the director of ‘Clueless’ Amy Heckerling revealed some hidden details about the cult classic movie including the fact that Dave Chappelle nearly landed the lead role.

Dave Chapelle came very close to nabbing the role of Murray, which eventually went to Donald Faison, but Chapelle already seemed a bit too mature for the part. “He was just amazing — he was such a mensch,” Heckeerling says, but “I needed somebody who was really innocent, a goofy kid.”

Heckerling also revealed that ‘Clueless’ started out as a failure. In fact, it was first a T.V. pilot. that was later rejected by Fox. In addition, Fox wanted the movie to be more about the guys and less about the girls. In fact, producers took the early script to Fox’s film department, and the execs liked it but wanted the script to “be geared more towards the [male characters], and I had problems with that,” Heckerling says.

After beginning his film career in 1993 as Ahchoo in Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men in Tights, he landed minor roles in box office hits including The Nutty Professor, Con Air, and Blue Streak. His first lead role was in the 1998 comedy film Half Baked, directed by Tamra Davis and co-written by Neal Brennan and Chappelle himself. Dave Chappelle would also audition for the role of Bubba on ‘Forrest Gump’ and other big movies. However, Chappelle revealed in an interview that it was his biggest mistake to reject the role of Bubba.

The Real Story Behind the Alleged Attempt to Kidnap Emma Watson

0

Was someone really trying to kidnap Emma Watson?

When you are a world famous celebrity you get a ton of great perks such as free movies, free clothes, and hanging out with other A-list celebrities. However, many celebrities become victims of bullying, stalkers, and even kidnapping.

According to reports, studio workers on Emma Watson’s new movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’ over heard someone planning to kidnap Emma Watson.

From Daily Mail:

‘There was concern about her safety. The taxi staff reported what had been overheard after a night shoot.’

‘They said the two studio staff travelling in the cab were chatting a foreign language, unaware that the driver could understand every word.’

On Friday, security around the site was reportedly increased in the wake of the alleged incident, said to have taken place last week.

A guard is reported to have been posted outside Emma’s trailer on the film set to increase the safety of the Noah star, who has been the target of stalkers before, while she is on set.

Emma Watson and Disney reps later commented that the kidnapping plot was “unsubstantiated and untrue”. But, this is not the first time Emma Watson’s life was in danger. In 2011 on set of ‘Noah’, filming was shut down after an obsessed fan of the actress broke onto the film’s set.

Disney is PISSED About Amy Schumer’s Star Wars Photos

0

Lucasfilm and Disney is pissed about these Amy Schumer Star Wars photos.

When you invest billions of dollars into a franchise you want to protect it. That’s why Disney is pretty pissed off with GQ and Amy Schumer.

Earlier this week GQ Magazine revealed photos from their latest issue featuring ‘Trainwreck’ star Amy Schumer in joking, sexual situations with several ‘Star Wars’ characters including C3PO and R2-D2 and on Friday, Lucasfilm responded.

In a Twitter post by the official ‘Star Wars’ account, they said the following: “Lucasfilm & Disney didn’t approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner.”

It’s pretty clear that GQ and Schumer didn’t mean to disrespect the billion dollar Lucasfilm franchise with these photos. They are supposed to be funny and provocative. However, Disney is not in the provocative and sexually suggestive business and Disney executives were not too happy too their billion dollar characters alongside queen of sexual humor, Amy Schumer.

Either way, Amy Schumer’s movie ‘Trainwreck’ did considerably well in the box office with reports saying that LeBron James didn’t even take a single acting class before jumping on board.

What do you think? Did Amy Schumer go too far? Share with us your thoughts in the comments below!

Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Hired Over 3,500 Georgia Actors and Filmmakers

0

Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ boosted Georgia’s economy by hiring over 3,500 actors and filmmakers.

Ant-Man has hit theaters and is already on track to make $60 million dollars in the box office making it the number one movie America. But, the impact in the box office goes beyond ticket sales. Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ has provided over 35 hundred jobs to Georgia actors and filmmakers.

According to the Fayette Citizen, ‘Ant-Man’ hired over 3,500 Georgia filmmakers and spent more than $106 million in Georgia during a filming at Pinewood Atlanta Studios.

But, what makes things even better for the Peach State is the fact that Marvel has basically called Georgia the official filming location for all of their future movies. Marvel Studios is working on “Captain America: Civil War” at Pinewood Atlanta Studios and in the next few months Chris Pratt’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ will film in Atlanta, Georgia.

Governor Deal says the movie and television production in Georgia generates $1.7 billion spending in the state and unlike Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Gov. Deal has no plans on stopping.

“I am committed to building a strong film-ready workforce in Georgia to ensure that the industry continues to flourish here,” Deal states in an announcement released earlier this month.

‘Ant-Man’ centers around con-man Scott Lang who is armed with the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength. ‘Ant-Man’ features Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Corey Stoll.

‘Ant-Man’ is now in theaters.

The entertainment industry is filled with scams and crooks interested in making a dollar off of innocent people. Most recently, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office has convicted a talent manager for illegally charging $110,000 for representing actors, models, and talent.

From Variety:

Debra Baum, 53, entered a plea of no contest to one count of operating an advance fee talent service. Judge Debroah Brazil sentenced Baum to 36 months summary probation and ordered her to serve 45 days in jail or perform 20 days of community labor. Baum also agreed to pay $91,252.75 in restitution to the parents of the victims.

SAG-AFTRA applauds City Attorney Mike Feuer and his talented team of attorneys for their commitment to providing meaningful and effective enforcement of the Talent Scam Prevention Act,” said SAG-AFTRA General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Duncan Crabtree-Ireland.

According to the report Debroah Brazil solicited a 19-year old in 2012 who she heard singing in a hair salon and signed her to a $10,000 per month management contract to promote her singing career. Before ending the contract in 2012, the victim’s family paid $70,000 in management fees as well as thousands in third party expenses for vocal training stylists and recordings.

It is important to point out that you should never have to pay your talent agency or talent manager for a job. A talent agent and manager gets paid after you land a role or movie. Think of their payment as a commission check for doing their jobs. Many times scam artists tell artists they need to pay them for other services to help build their career but, that is false and it is excatly what landed Debroah Brazil in court.

“This law is a key element of protecting people from talent scams, but the best law would be meaningless without the efforts of law enforcement. We hope and expect that others who might be inclined to take advantage of people’s dreams to work in the entertainment industry will take this enforcement success to heart and think twice before crossing that line.”

Why LeBron James Didn’t Take Acting Class for ‘Trainwreck’

LeBron James didn’t take acting classes for the movie ‘Trainwreck’.

If LeBron was ever considering a career outside of basketball, then he may have found a new home in Hollywood.

According to USA Today, LeBron James said that he was told that he would be playing himself in the movie and he figured that would be easy enough to do without acting classes. “I can just show up, I’m LeBron, I’ll play basketball, and shoot some jumpers, I can dunk. And it was like ‘uh no, you’re actually going to be Bill’s best friend in the movie.’ And I’m like ‘so that means I’m going to have … lines?”

But, it’s interesting to point out that LeBron James never took a single acting class. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter LeBron James never took a single acting class before working on the new movie ‘Trainwreck’.

What may come as a surprise is James eschewed acting lessons before taking on the Trainwreckrole, which required five days on set. “He’s been in front of the cameras since he was 18,” explained James’ business manager and childhood friend Maverick Carter. “He’s very comfortable in front of the camera. He didn’t need an acting coach.”

With each take, the lines changed slightly, but that’s Apatow’s improvisational style. Schumer, too, seemed to be deviating from a set script. But it’s clear that the sports icon was prepared and hit his lines and shots (the script called for him to rev up the crowd with some basketball theatrics) with nuclear-clock precision. Wearing a blue cardigan and white sneakers, James was there to deliver. On the Trainwreck set, the heat can’t touch him.

Many critics agreed. The Business Insider called LeBron James a pretty good actor.

LeBron James is certainly not the first or last professional sports star to be cast in a movie. But he’s one of the few who can actually act.

LeBron James may just be extremely talented on and off the court. Universal’s ‘Trainwreck’ opened Thursday night and is expected to make $30 million.
