Discovery Channel has to pay $19 million after canceling ’19 Kids and Counting’

The Duggars are apparently broke and begging for donations, and now they have cost the Discovery channel millions. After canceling the show following the sexual misconduct allegations against Josh Duggar, Discovery was hit with “content impairment charges” that will cost the Discovery channel approximately $1 million per kid – $19 million in total.

The cable network was also slapped with similar charges following the molestation scandal surrounding ‘Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo.’

Discovery took a pretty hefty loss when it lost the Duggar family: about $19 million, to be exact.

On the company’s post-earnings conference call Wednesday morning, Chief Financial Officer Andrew Warren cited “higher restructuring and other charges this year of $19 million, primarily due to content impairment charges of canceling TLC’s “19 Kids & Counting.”

The company’s total charges for the three-month period were actually $24 million; the $19 million figure Warren cited marked the difference between Q2 2014’s $5 million charge.

“19 Kids and Counting” was TLC’s highest-rated and most watched show.

Several people nearly died after a shooting in Nashville, Tennessee movie theater.

Yesterday, police were called to a movie theater outside of Nashville Wednesday in response to reports of a shooter, according to the Metro Nashville PD.

The call reporting a shooter was received by police at 1:15 p.m. Police, EMS and SWAT teams responded to the shooting. According to police reports, SWAT engaged the shooter following the 911 call resulting in a shootout. The suspect was killed.

1. The attack occurred during ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’

The shooting occurred during a screening of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’. Police report the suspect was armed with a hatched in addition to a gun. He also had two backpacks with him. It’s unclear what was inside of the bags.

2. No one was seriously injured

A man and two women were treated for pepper spray exposure and a superficial wound and luckily no one was sent to the hospital.

The National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) has released a statement, saying it “is grateful to the theater staff and first responders who acted so quickly and efficiently to end today’s incident without serious injury. Whether it is in churches, schools, malls, theaters or other public places, people have the right to go about their lives in peace and safety. The safety of our guests and employees is, and always will be, our industry’s highest priority.”

In a message posted on it website, Carmike Cinemas said “We are grateful for the quick and professional actions of our staff and all first responders in Antioch and Nashville. The well-being of our guests and employees has been and will continue to be of utmost importance to our organization.”

3. Movie Theaters think it is too expensive for more security

This is the second movie-theater attack in the last few months. It begs the questions: why is this happening and what are movie theaters doing to stop it?

We recently reported that movie theater chains argue that metal detectors and armed security are too expensive for movie theaters.

The cost of the equipment is only about $5,000, but personnel to run a proper checkpoint can cost $250,000 a year in smaller markets and $1 million in big cities.

“You will have to tell your customers to come a half-hour early to wait in a security line.”

4. The man carried an airsoft gun and a fake bomb in his backpack

Aaron said the airsoft gun resembled and semi-automatic handgun and looked realistic.

“If someone confronted you with it, you would think it was a real pistol,” he said.

According to Aaron, an Airsoft gun will make a pop, similar to a smaller caliber handgun.

Aaron said police were “not comfortable” with the contents of the two bags Montano was carrying and they needed to be destroyed. At least one of those bags was detonated just before 4 p.m.

After the detonation, Aaron described the contents of the backpack as a “hoax device.” He said items inside the backpack were designed to look like an explosive, but posed no threat to officers or the community. [WSMV]

The incident comes just two weeks after John Russel Houser opened fire in a Louisiana theater during a showing of Trainwreck, killing three and wounding nine.

Eminem has recently revealed his battle with drug addiction and what he had to do to overcome it.

In an emotional magazine article how the addiction caused him to balloon to 203 pounds, Eminem reveals that a drug overdose changed his life forever.

In an article for Men’s Journal, Eminem explained how he was frequently taking pills like Vicodin and Valium and drinking alcohol until he suffered an overdose in December 2007.

It was then, he says, that he realized how much weight he had gained.

‘In 2007, I overdosed on pills, and I went into the hospital. I was close to 230 pounds. I’m not sure how I got so big, but I have ideas.”

He adds: ‘The coating on the Vicodin and the Valium I’d been taking for years leaves a hole in your stomach, so to avoid a stomachache, I was constantly eating – and eating badly.’

The 42-year-old rapper would order steak from an expensive restaurant almost every night, causing him to pile on weight, break out in pimples and have other health issues, according to his mother Debbie Nelson.

He became depressed and anti-social, she added. He was also talking several prescription drugs, including Vicodin, a pain killer that treats severe pain, and Valium a medication that treats anxiety and muscle spasms.

When he was admitted to a hospital after his overdose, doctors reported that he was clinically “obsese” and close to the “very obese” mark. In addition, Eminem revealed that his organs were shutting down.

Eminem would later be released from the hospital but, a month later he would relapse again forcing him to enter a rehabilitation facility. After rehab, he realized that he needed to lose weight.

‘I also needed to figure out a way to function sober,’ Eminem writes in the Men’s Journal article.

‘Unless I was blitzed out of my mind, I had trouble sleeping. So I started running.’

However, while his treadmill sessions helped him to sleep, he quickly became addicted to them.

Soon, he was running 17 miles a day like a ‘f***ing hamster’ and scrutinizing the number of calories he was burning. He dropped to 149 pounds and began to suffer injuries such as muscle tears.

Eminem decided to ‘dial back’ and try out another means of working out – exercise DVDs.

‘I know a lot of these DVD guys are wacky, but I’m alone in my gym; I need someone on the TV yelling to motivate me. Besides, some of this s*** is entertaining,’ the world-famous rapper writes.

One of the first DVD’s Eminem tried out was Shaun T’s Insanity, which promotes a challenging workout routine. He said he loved it so much he quit running altogether. But, after Shaun T’s workouts stopped working he changed to the P90X workout program and finally to the Body Beast workout, which he continues to do every morning.

Eminem has sold over 172 million albums and he is one of the world’s best-selling and highest paid artists in the world.

Xena: Warrior Princess reboot is in development but, this time it may not feature Lucy Lawless.

Nobody has worked harder at promoting a ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ reboot than Xena herself, Lucy Lawless. But it turns out, if a reboot does happen, Lawless will probably not appear in the series.

According to Entertainment Weekly:

“I really couldn’t live that life,” she said of the stunt-heavy series. “I look back, I’ve got all sort of wear and tear from that lifestyle. That’s just what happens to human bodies when they get used a certain way a lot. I actually couldn’t do it. I’m 47, but there’s somebody great out there.”

But, Lucy Lawless revealed that she would be interested in playing Xena again, just in a smaller role, reports EW. “I would love to do a reboot getting Xena, Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor), Autolycus (Bruce Campbell) and Jox (Ted Raimi) back together, get that crew back together to solve some ridiculous problem. I’d love to do a TV movie or a movie, a limited thing.”

The NBC Xena reboot is in pre-development and is still seeking a writer.

After the cancellation of TLC’s ’19 Kids and Counting,’ the Duggar family lost a ton of money.

Estimates say the Duggar family will lose $25 million in future earnings, since the family made $45,000 per episode. However, this won’t stop the family from having more kids. Josh Duggar, whose action’s are the center of the family’s molestation scandal, recently had his fourth child, a daughter.

The Duggar family is struggling, and apparently they are gettind desperate. After all, according to studies and reports, it costs an estimated $245,000 to raise a single child and the Duggars do not allow their daughters to work, leaving an entire family struggling to make ends meet.

OK! magazine discovered evidence that the family’s looking for a new funding source. On the Duggar Studios YouTube page, they asked for donations:

The donation buttons have since disappeared and The Duggars want support to continue providing “fresh content,” which could be why they haven’t posted a video in two months.
