Love to dance? Dance casting call for an anti-smoking commercial.

Beau Bonneau Casting is looking for San Francisco/Bay Area dancers to work on an anti-smoking commercial campaign. Casting directors are looking for talent to work on the upcoming PSA.

The commercial will feature a young dancer going about her day till she gets to the studio. She will have a few scripted lines off camera; acting experience isn’t necessary.

Talents that are selected will be compensated $1,000 per shoot day and $4,000 for a 2-year buyout. Filming will take place in Los Angeles, California and will work for two days on March 15th and March 17th.

Those old Harry Potter books could make you a fortune.

Harry Potter franchise is a billion dollar product. With dozens of movies, stage plays, and several books, J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. have made a fortune sharing the Wizarding World. But, now here’s your chance to make a few extra bucks selling those old Harry Potter books.

In fact, all of those Harry Potter books you’ve collected over the years and are sitting on your bookcase collecting dust could actually be worth a ton of money.

According to reports, AbeBooks, an online store that specializes in rare books, has found that early editions of the Harry Potter series are still in high demand and earning as much as $55,000 for a UK first-edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.”

Meanwhile, the American first-edition with the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will only get you $6,500 but, that still a pretty penny.

But, other books are also valuable. An early copy of Chamber of Secrets can earn up to $9,000, while a Prisoner of Azkaban with author J.K. Rowling’s name spelled wrong can be worth $12,000. If your book is signed by Rowling, that will increase the price as well. In fact, signed copies of Goblet of Fire have sold for $11,000. AbeBooks credits the books, popupularity to Rowling’s commitment to creating new books, as well as the popularity of the film franchise.

Hollywood Bashes Chris Rock’s Asian Kids Oscars Joke

Chris Rock is under fire for an Oscars skit that seems to poke fun at Asians for their math skills and other Asian-American stereotypes.

Chris Rock tackeled several controversial issues during his Oscar hosting gig on Sunday, but a joke about Asians has left many people with a bad taste in their mouths.

During the Oscars, Rock talked about calculating all the votes by Academy members and that accounting firm

Three young children of Asian descent then appeared onstage in suits carrying briefcases. “If anybody’s upset about that joke, just tweet about it on your phone that was also made by these kids,” Rock said. PriceWaterhouseCoopers had sent over some accountants to help. “They sent us their most dedicated, accurate and hard-working representatives,” he said. “Please welcome Ming Zhu, Bao Ling and David Moskowitz.”
“To parade little kids on stage w/no speaking lines merely to be the butt of a racist joke is reductive & gross,” wrote Constance Wu, star of ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat.” “Antithesis of progress.”

‘Making a Murderer’ Filmmakers Working on a New Season

New episodes of Making a Murderer may be on the way.

Directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos spoke at a Stranger Than Fiction panel in New York on Thursday and revealed that they had conversations with Kathleen Zellner, Steven Avery’s new attorney, about continuing to film the process.

They also added they are still recording phone calls and conversations they have with Steven Avery.
“From our perspective this story is obviously not over,” Ricciardi said on Thursday. “It’s real life and [Avery’s and Brendan Dassey’s] cases are both still pending. We have no idea when the magistrate will make a decision in Brendan’s case.
“We do know that two potential outcomes are that the judge could order Brendan’s release or he could order a new trial. So we are on the edge of seats about that. To the extent that there are significant developments, we would like to continue documenting this [case].”

While Ricciardi and Demos are ready to start the new season of Making a Murderer, heading back into production may be a bigger challenge than some may expect.

“There is a lot of hostility toward these two women in Wisconsin,” Stephen M. Glynn, Avery’s civil lawyer who was also on the panel said. “The theory is that [they] have played Wisconsin unfairly. But among those people who think and are a little more educated and thoughtful about these sorts of issues, there is appreciation.”

Apparently, many media outlets bashed the filmmakers for their portrayal of the crime.
“To read an article that calls our integrity into question and more or less accuses us of leaving things out [of the film] when there are 12 factual errors in the first two paragraphs of the article is frustrating,” Demos said. “So we just have to sort of disengage from that and try and have more meaningful conversations.”

21 Reality Stars Have Committed Suicide in the Past 10 Years

How come so many reality stars are committing suicide?

Reality television is everywhere. Whether it’s the Real Housewives of Atlanta or Jersey Shore, millions of people tune in every week to see what their favorite reality stars are up to. But, according to a new scathing report, a large percentage of reality stars are committing suicide. In fact, in the past 10 years over 21 reality stars have killed them.

One reality show personality is infamously known for allegedly causing people to commit suicide. Gordon Ramsay has built an empire by producing cooking-based reality shows where he’s known for belitting people appearing on the show. But it may be that Ramsay’s behavior has deeper consequences than just entertaining people. At least three people who were publicly humiliated on TV have gone on to commit suicide.

In 2007, Gordon Ramsay ripped apart struggling New Jersey chef Joseph Cerniglia on “Kitchen Nightmares,” screaming: “Your business is about to f?-?-?king swim down the Hudson.”

Three years later, Cerniglia jumped off the George Washington Bridge.

Unfortunately, Cerniglia was not alone three contestants on The Bachelor have committed suicide as well. In fact, just two weeks ago The Bachelor season 14 contestant Alexa “Lex” McCallister, 31, became the latest fatality when she overdosed on prescription pills. Gia Allemand, from the same season, hanged herself in 2013. In 2010, 35-year old Bachelorette contestant shot himself in the head.

But, it begs the question, are reality shows causing people to commit suicide or people cast to appear on reality shows already susceptible to depression?

According to reports, reality TV adds additional pressures to strained relationships and financial situations.

Even peripheral players like Russell Armstrong, husband of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Taylor Armstrong, aren’t immune. He hanged himself in 2011 after his financial woes and marital problems were aired on Bravo. Prior to his death, he told RumorFix of the pressures of being on television.

“[It] was pretty overwhelming,” he said. “It took our manageable problems and made them worse.”

Jesse Csincsak, the fourth-season winner of “The Bachelorette,” tells The Post that the pressures and struggles that come with appearing on reality television can drive some people over the edge.

So how do casting directors choose who should appear on the show. Well, it’s a long and difficult process filled with STD exams and psychological testing. One reality show contestant discussed some of the psychological questions asked before getting cast on the show.

Csincsak’s psych evaluation included 1,200 multiple-choice questions, such as “Do you feel sad?” and “Do you ever think about killing your mother?”

But, one reality show contestant says the psychological exam “were less about deducing stability and more about gathering ammo for later.”

Here’s Every TV Pilot and Their Filming Location

Pilot Season is here and here’s where every TV pilot is filming this year.

Pilot season is ramping up production across the country and Los Angeles is the #1 city for TV pilots this year.

According to a report by Deadline, Los Angeles will film the most TV pilots in the world.

California’s new $330 million-a-year tax credit, which was expanded to TV pilots, is paying dividends as the number of broadcast drama pilots filmed in Los Angeles has risen for a second consecutive year. Following the dismal all-time low of five broadcast pilots in 2014, L.A.’s tally went up to seven last year. This year, there are 10 broadcast drama pilots shot in LA, plus one in San Diego (Fox’s baseball-themedPitch, which is being produced with the cooperation of the Padres). That brings the total of California-made broadcast pilots to 11, inching closer to the 2013 level of 13.

The reason for so many productions filming in California is due to the recently overhauled film tax credits. In fact, two of the 2016 pilots have already been approved for a TV pilot.

Meanwhile, New York City’s pilot season took a major hit as the number of TV pilots drop by nearly 50% over the past two years. But, that’s not really a big issue as Netflix and Marvel are constantly filming their new streaming series.

The decline on the pilot side has been offset by the deal with Disney for the Marvel TV series on Netflix, dubbed as the largest film or television production project commitment in New York State.

Across the border, Canada’s film industry is booming. Vancouver and Toronto’s combined total of TV pilots are more than the Los Angeles’ film industsry. What’s important to point out is that Canada is setting the record for the most comedy pilots filmed there.

Louisiana’s pilot season has completely stopped. According to Deadline, due to Louisiana’s move to cap its film and TV credit, there are no TV pilots being shot in the state this year.

#OscarsSoWhite Hurt Ratings? Oscars Hit 8 Year Low

Oscars 2016 ratings hit an 8 year low

Despite all of the controversy surrounding the 2016 Oscars, Sunday night’s 88th Academy Awards broadcast had the lowest overnight ratings in eight years.

Oscars 2016, which aired on ABC, averaged a 23.1 rating, which is a 6% dip from the already low ratings the show had last year.

From Fortune:

In the markets tracked by Nielsen, the Academy Awards –which was hosted by comedian Chris Rock–earned a 37% share of households watching television during the show’s airtime last night.

The overnight ratings represent the lowest ratings for an Oscars broadcast since Jon Stewart hosted the awards ceremony eight years ago. The 2015 Oscars, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, averaged 37 million total viewers, which was lower than each of the previous six years.

Chris Rock opened the show by immediately discussing the ongoing controversy surrounding the all-white nominees in acting categories. At one point in his opening monologue, Chris Rock asked: “Is Hollywood racist?” before answering himself: “You’re damn right, Hollywood is racist.” But, Rock defended the Oscars by bashing Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith because the couple decided to boycott the Oscars this year.

But, the low ratings may illustrate that Jada Pinkett Smith will have the last laugh. Especially, since #OscarsBoycott went viral and supporters of #OscarsSoWhite refused to watch the award ceremony.

Viral video shows celebrities “refusing to clap” for Jenny Beavan at Oscars.

A viral video clip appears to show several members of the audience at the Academy Awards refusing to clap for Jenny Beavan, a designer, as she walks to the stage for her Mad Max: Fury Road win. She won best costume design for the movie.

The video was first uploaded to Vine, and it shows most of the audience members not clapping for her. Some media outlets claimed it was the men who “refused to clap” but there are several women in the audience who are seen not clapping as well. And if you look closely, one male audience member can be seen clapping.

Some of the audience members might have also just stopped clapping as she walked down the aisle but, it’s hard to tell in the video clip.

Alejandro G Inarritu, who won Best Director for “The Revenant” later that night, sat motionless with his arms crossed. Many speculated that the reaction may have been prompted because “The Revenant” was up for the same award, and he was angry it didn’t win.

According to the Daily Mail, some of the strange looks directed at Beavan might be because of what she was wearing, which was pretty casual. She faux leather jacket, with Swarovski crystals, which retails for $60.

Beavan explained her choice of outft.

“‘I don’t do frocks and absolutely don’t do heels, I have a bad back. I look ridiculous in a beautiful gown,” she told the Mail.

“This was a homage to Mad Max and I obviously didn’t get it quite right at the BAFTAs, the scarf was meant to be an oil rag.”

“I just like feeling comfortable and as far as I’m concerned I’m really dressed up.”

Fox’s new TV pilot APB will film in Chicago this March.

According to reports, 4 Star Casting will be the official extras casting director for the upcoming TV pilot.

APB centers around the New York Times Magazine article “Who Runs the Streets of New Orleans?” and written by Person of Interest‘s David Slack, the drama pilot centers around a tech billionaire who buys a troubled police precinct in the wake of a loved one’s murder, asking the question: Can this eccentric and enigmatic figure’s cutting-edge approach fix the broken ways of these blue-blooded veterans?

This is the latest Fox TV pilot scheduled to film in Chicago. It was announced last week that Fox’s Exorcist TV pilot will also film in Chicago. Stay tuned for more casting calls and job opportunities for APB.
