According to reports, AbeBooks, an online store that specializes in rare books, has found that early editions of the Harry Potter series are still in high demand and earning as much as $55,000 for a UK first-edition ofĀ āHarry Potter and the Philosopherās Stone.ā
Meanwhile, the American first-edition with the titleĀ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneĀ will only get you $6,500 but, that still a pretty penny.
But, other books are also valuable. An early copy ofĀ Chamber of SecretsĀ can earn up to $9,000, while aĀ Prisoner of AzkabanĀ with author J.K. Rowling’s name spelled wrong can be worth $12,000. If your book is signed by Rowling, that will increase the price as well. In fact, signed copies ofĀ Goblet of FireĀ have sold for $11,000. AbeBooks credits the books, popupularity to Rowling’s commitment to creating new books, as well as the popularity of the film franchise.
