According to Deadline, the new series Thirteen Reasons Why is the new Selena Gomez TV series for Netflix. The series was created and written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Brian Yorkey. The show follows a boy named Clay after he receives a shoe box of cassette tapes from his late classmate and crush Hannah, after she recently committed suicide. On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to 12 peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving 13 reasons explaining why she took her life.

Selena Gomez is co-producing alongside her mother Mandy. Sheopened up to Variety about the experience, saying: “She’s got incredible taste in a weird, cool way. Four or five years ago, she found this book and fell in love with it. I think I was still in high school. Now we’re here. We took our time with it.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming extras casting director reveals acting tips for aspiring background actors.

Tammy Smith Casting is probably one of the most popular casting directors in Atlanta, Georgia right now. Her casting agency has made national news, after news broke that she’s the extras casting director for the upcoming Spider-Man movie. That being said, she took to Facebook to share actor submission tips for those background actors interested in joining the cast and crew of Spider-Man: Homecoming. 

From Tammy Smith Casting:

We have been going thru all of the submissions and I have to say… I am very, very impressed with how many of you are following the directions on the website, to a “T”… and on top of that, having the smarts to include photos of you with a backpack, instruments, skateboards, and overall, very HS student looks. Thank you so much. It is going to make for a great impression to our director for selection. So many of you are going to be working on this film, especially the ones who took the time to send in the right photos, the complete right info and photos looking the part!!! wink emoticon … and SO many good faces!!

 

PS- you don’t need to submit more than once, unless you have a revised email with info you left out. That revised email should have all info and photos together, so that the newer email replaces the older incorrect one , etc.. ALSO, please refer friends!! So basically, Tammy Smith Casting revealed that if you are interested in a role in the new Spider-Man homecoming movie, dress up for the part. Currently, casting directors are looking for background extras to play high school students. So, producers are looking for actors that can actually pass for high school students.

Atlanta Film Industry Injured by TV Cancellations

Several TV shows that filmed in Atlanta, Georgia have been cancelled as TV executives pull the plug on several productions.

According to reports, Containment, and Game of Silence were canceled by The CW and NBC. Game Silence, which filmed throughout Georgia, centered around a rising attorney on the brink of success who could lose his perfectly crafted life when his long-lost childhood friends threaten to expose a dark secret from their violent past. And Containment follows an epidemic that breaks out in Atlanta, leaving the large city quarantined and those stuck on the inside fighting for their lives. The drama tells the story of loved ones torn apart, and how the society that grows inside the cordon reveals both the devolution of humanity and the birth of unlikely heroes.

Vampire Diaries Sleepy hollow Originals

But, it could have been worse. There were rumors that The CW planned on canceling The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, two TV shows that have filmed in Atlanta, Georgia for several years. However, The CW announced that they will renew the two shows for another season. But, if ratings continue to slip, expect The CW to pull the plug.

In addition, it was rumored that Fox would cancel Sleepy Hollow after only three seasons. But, Fox executives decided to give the show another season even though Season 3 ratings plummeted.

Fox’s Star filmed their TV pilot in Atlanta, Georgia. But, we will have to wait and see if Lee Daniels’ and company decided to film the series in the ATL.

Actress Blake Lively Called “Racist” For this Instagram Photo

Blake Lively posted a photo on Instagram and everyone is calling her racist.

Actress Blake Lively posted a photo onto Instagram on May 17th, featuring a split-screen photo of the actress, with one half of the Instagram photo showing her face and the other half, showing off her back. The caption references Bay Area city of Oakland, an area that has a large non-white population.

While Blake Lively’s caption is referencing Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” a song which include lyrics that match Lively’s caption, many argue that it’s still racist. According to JE Reich’s from Jezebel, Blake Lively’s Instagram photo is a “diametrical opposition” and metaphorically comparing black people and white people (emphasis my own):

While Lively’s caption is most likely a nod to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s bar-mitzvah staple “Baby Got Back,” which includes lyrics that match Lively’s caption, it’s still problematic. In the end, it touts a diametrical opposition: that Los Angeles can be equated to elegance and/or beauty (read: whiteness), and that Oakland is its foil (read: blackness). [Jezebel]

And Reich is not alone. Many people took to Twitter to bash Blake Lively’s Instagram photos.

But, not everyone feels the same way about Blake Lively. Several people went online to defend the actress.

A few minutes later you find out that it was just a prank. Hours later you find out that your reaction has been posted on YouTube to a following of nearly 700,000 people.

That is exactly what happened to a bunch of art enthusiasts in London last July when YouTube vloggers from Trollstation – a YouTube channel focused on pranks- burst into London’s National Portrait Gallery to do a fake heist. But, their attempt of becoming YouTube stars was cut short as the City of London Maigstrates’ Court handed them short-term jail sentences in connection to the fake robbery at the gallery and a similar heist at another art gallery. Police have criticised the group for carrying out such raids in the wake of recent terrorist attacks.

The men were arrested and placed in jail for 72 weeks, with all four pranksters pleading guilty to two counts of using threatening words or behavior with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence.

Trollstation describes itself as “a collective of social misfits playing mad mind games on the public,” the YouTube chnanel writes that its content is “intentionally provocative and controversial with the aim to get reactions from the general public in the name of comedic Satire.”

Following their trial, members of Trollstation told the BBC that they’d never “aimed to get away with breaking the law.” They also aruged they were “a big influence” and tried to “use that positively.”

This is really interesting considering the fact that more and more producers and casting directors are looking for actors, models, and talent on YouTube instead of drama schools. But, how far would you go to become famous?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Star Chole Bennet Bashes Marvel

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet is pissed off with Marvel.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuted last year to a massive audience that was praised by critics and fans alike. Three years later, the show’s ratings have plummeted. In fact, the most recent episode had only 2.93 million viewers, which was the lowest-rated episode ever for the Marvel TV series. Which begs the question: Where are the Avengers?

Chloe Bennet asked the same question. During an interview at Wizard World Des Moines this weekend, Bennet was asked why Tony Stark or any of the characters from the Marvel series dropped by to make a guest appearance on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. “I don’t know,” Bennet replied, “People who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? Why don’t you guys go ask them that? Because they don’t seem to care!”

Bennett added, “The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all. So, I would love to [appear in a Marvel movie], but they don’t seem too keen on that idea.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was renewed for a fourth season, but its time slot was moved to 10 p.m. ABC president Channing Dungey argued that the scheduling change will allow for the show to take more risks. However, considering all of the shows that aired on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. in the past, this is clearly the end for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

But, you can’t really blame Marvel. It’s reasonable to believe that Marvel doesn’t want to tarnish their billion dollar feature film franchise by appearing in an unwatched TV series.

Donna Grossman Casting is looking for hip and active families to go on all expenses paid cruise vacation for an upcoming commercial campaign. We are looking for a very hip and active MULTI-GENERATIONAL family to go on an all expenses paid Cruise vacation. 70,000 People Sign Petition to Bring Back ‘Agent Carter’

A petition to bring Agent Carter to Netflix has over 70,000 signatures.

The fans of Agent Carter are doing whatever it takes to bring the show back. Following the show’s cancellation by ABC, one fan launched a petition to try to get Agent Carter picked up as a Netflix series. Since launching the petition a few days ago, the petition already has over 70,000 signatures.

Despite so many people signing the petition, it will have a very little impact on the impact on the fate of the TV series. In fact, the lead actress in the series, Hayley Atwell, has already joined a new series at ABC which will take up the time previously allocated to filming the Marvel series.
