Netflix’s new hit TV series Mindhunter is one the most talked about shows this week.
If you haven’t watched it yet, you’ve no doubt heard the positive buzz surrounding the serial killer cop drama, which debuted on Netflix on Friday the 13th. The show is based on the early days of the FBI’s criminal profiling unit, with Jonathan Gruff and Holt McCallany playing a pair of FBI agents who are set out to interview imprisoned serial murderers to gain insight into the mind of a serial killer.
The series has already been renewed for a second season. We know almost nothing about the second season 2 Mindhunter at the moment, David Fincher did offer a clue in a recent interview with Billboard in which he and composer Jason Hill discussed the music on the show. That said, Fincher said that Season 2 of the show will be tackling at least one very famous case:
“Next year we’re looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we’ll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice. The music will evolve. It’s intended to support what’s happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons.”
Atlanta Child Murders
During the late 70’s and early 80’s, at least 28 African-American children, adolescents, and adults were killed in a variety of ways.The killer was later caught by FBI agent John E. Douglas, on which Jonathan Gross’s character Holden Ford is based in the show. Wayne Williams, an Atlanta native who was 23 years old at the time of the last murder, was arrested for and convicted of two of the adult murders and sentenced to two consecutive life terms. Police subsequently have attributed a number of the child murders to Williams and closed the cases, although he has not been tried or convicted in any of those cases.
When will filming take place?
That said, it is unclear when we might expect Mindhunter Season 2 and if Fincher will be as involved in the next chapter of the show as he was in the first, although he does say “next year” it is possible pre-production of the show is currently on the way.
According to Collider, Fincher directed nearly half the episodes of Season 1 and ran the writers’ room, but he’s set to helm World War Z 2, which is expected to begin production next year. That’s also when Mindhunter Season 2 would likely start filming, so it may be that Fincher takes a step back in the second season.

ABOUT THE DIRECTING PROGRAM
The two-year professional directing program, which spans two television seasons based upon ABC’s production calendar, recruits experienced directors on the cusp of making the transition into episodic directing. The primary goal of this program is to afford Program Directors access to develop relationships with DATG executives and productions. Those selected to participate in the program become part of the Disney | ABC Directing Program directing talent pool. DATG executives, executive producers and/or producing episodic directors select individuals to shadow on an episode or episodes of produced television. Shadowing assignments are not guaranteed; however, if an assignment is secured, the program director will shadow production and shooting. Observing post-production is solely at the discretion of producers. Drama assignments typically run three or more weeks, and comedy assignments usually run one to two weeks. Directors on shadowing assignments will receive a paid stipend in the amount of $950.00 per week when actively shadowing on any aspect of a production. The duration of an individual’s participation is at the discretion of DATG executives, executive producers and/or episodic directors.

Applicants must be able to legally work in the United States and be at least 21 years of age. Material must be directed by a single director. Material directed by directing teams will not be accepted. Previous professional experience working in television production is strongly preferred, but not required. According to Deadline, actor Matt Barr stars in this action series for The CW network. “In Valor, the boundaries between military discipline and human desire are tested on a U.S. Army base that houses an elite unit of helicopter pilots trained to perform clandestine international and domestic missions. Frank Underwood reportedly helped Russia interfere with the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.
Former members of a troll group, operating under the reported protection of Vladimir Putin’s closest associates, said in an interview with a Russian TV channel that Netflix’s hit political drama House of Cards was required to be seen to help train the agents on hot-button issues in American political culture.
“At first we were forced to watch the ‘House of Cards’ in English,” a former peddler of fake news identified only as Maksim told the station. “It was necessary to know all the main problems of the United States of America. Tax problems, the problem of gays, sexual minorities, weapons.”
The Netflix show was one of many parts in the Russian’s attempts to better understand how to influence Americans, according to Yahoo!
The group is called the Internet Research Agency and they reportedly posted comments on some of the biggest news outlets including New York Times and Washington Post to get people upset and influence the election. A major objective was to decrease the chances of Hillary Clinton’s win the presidential election by emphasizing her past “corruption scandals.”
“The main message is: Are not you, my American brothers, tired of the Clintons? How many have they already been?” said Maksim, adding that President Barack Obama was also targeted. “We had a goal to set up the Americans against their own government to cause unrest, cause discontent [and] lower [President] Obama’s rating.”
In addition, the trolls discussed topics including gay rights and gun control to “rock the boat.”
“When it was gays, we almost always had to bring out the religious themes,” said Maksim. “Americans are very religious, especially those [who post] on news sites and write comments. You had to write that sodomy is a sin. That could always get you a couple of dozen ‘likes.’”
