Jeff Olan Casting will be holding an open casting call for the new TV series BEST WORST WEEKEND EVER, next Sunday, Oct. 22nd, from 10am-3:30pm.

We are seeking adults 18 and over who are into Comic-Con, Cosplay, Larpers, Superheroes, Gaming….or, even if you can create the best original costume, COME ON DOWN! (Bring as many costumes as you like, there are changing rooms).

Casting, some members of the production team, and the costume design team will be there to check out everyone’s costume(s).

The series will be filming from November – January. So, there will be several opportunities to appear on the show (however, this will be our only open call). Those with the best costumes may even be picked for the special core groups, which will work several days throughout production!

SAG and non-union are welcome. No acting experience is necessary.

The cast discusses working about filming in Alabama and making the movie in 23 days. The cast also discusses approaching their acting style in a laid-back way and not being “actory.”

In Universal Pictures Get Out, a speculative thriller from Blumhouse (producers of The Visit, Insidious series and The Gift) and the mind of Jordan Peele, when a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate, he becomesensnared in a more sinister real reason for the invitation.

If you’re an overweight person, does it limit your opportunities as an actor?

Recently, an aspiring actor on Reddit posed this question to other working artists. But does your weight have an impact your performance? While it is common for A-list actors to transform themselves by either gaining weight or losing a few pounds, there is little known about aspiring actors who may carry a few extra pounds.

One actor explained, “What I would say is it might limit you to a certain “type” of role. As you had mentioned it is a tough industry and due to that nature you don’t see too many leads with that stature.” However, there are roles for everyone of all ages, sizes, and shapes. “Odds are you would be cast more to a supporting role character and your build may even give you an edge up on an average weight cookie cutter type person. In a way, you stand out in the norm, and by no means in a negative way.”

Another actor argued that by being overweight will limit your starring roles. “Everything about an actor limits what they are likely to be cast in. In your case, you are not going to be the typical leading lady, which is not to say you will never be the lead in a film, but not the typical leading lady they are looking for most films.” The actor added, “That being said, some people who look or have something unique about them can work a lot. Often supporting roles, but I know a couple examples of this that are always booking.”

Casting directors are now casting talent to work on feature films now filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Producers are now hiring stand-ins and photo doubles to work on the productions. About First Man:

Josh Singer, who earned an Oscar for his Spotlight screenplay, wrote First Man based on James Hansen’s biography, First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong. Gosling has reportedly been tied to the project since late last year, but only inked a deal to star in the film earlier this year.

After serving as a Navy pilot in World War II, Neil Armstrong joined the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, the precursor to NASA, as a test pilot and engineer. His first mission as an astronaut was Gemini 8 in 1962, during which he performed the first successful docking of two vehicles in space. On July 21st, 1969 he became the first person to walk on the moon as part of Apollo 11.

Here’s Why Georgia’s Film Industry is Going to Continue to Grow

Just when you thought Georgia’s film industry couldn’t get any bigger. Atlanta’s eastern suburb is looking to bring more TV shows and movies to the area.

According to Deadline, the new DeKalb Entertainment Commission launched earlier this week with the mission to further grow the county’s film, television, music, and digital entertainment industries.

Starting October 21st, DeKalb Entertainment Commission will launch an entertainment expo event with panels, workshops and other resources for producers, aspiring filmmakers, and artists.

“The new DeKalb Entertainment Commission will be about making connections, building collaboration and creating amazing content,” said Andrew Greenberg, commission chairman. “It will be the economic engine that drives growth for our county across the entertainment industry, encouraging companies to locate here while creating jobs and spurring construction, development and overall industry growth.”

He added: “The commission will be an important resource for DeKalb County as the entertainment industry continues to grow across Georgia. It has already had an enormous economic impact statewide, with $9.5 billion in film and television, $3.7 billion in music and almost $2 billion in digital entertainment.”

The county has also launched a new website, DeKalbEntertainment.com, to make it easier for permitting and finding locations.

Previous movies such as Morgan Freeman’s Driving Miss Daisy, Ice Cube’s Barbershop: The Next Cut, and Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss are among the many movies that have previously filmed in the Atlanta suburb.

About CBS Instinct:

“Instinct” — formerly titled “Killer Instinct” and “Dr. Death” — is about Dylan, a former CIA operative, played by Alan Cumming, who has since built a “normal” life as a gifted professor and writer, and is pulled back into his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer on the loose. Novakovic will play Lizzie, a top detective with the NYPD who approaches Dylan to help with a case.
